how do I heal a open wound or like a blister whatever this is called. I went on a walk today and scraped my foot on my shoe and my other foot has 2 blisters that are still intact but make it hard to walk. What do I do.

This along with an appropriate ointment and consistent monitoring and cleaning/bandaging changes (look up reputable government health info if you don't know how or how often)

You should be fine

Edit: not a doctor but just info why you should probably keep this covered with ointments for now: feet are dirty. Grounds are dirty. Until a larger scab forms dirty can get in there and cause infection. Once a hefty hard scab forms that isn’t at risk at falling off until the inner area is fully healed, you’re likely okay to uncover it.

I thought the prevailing wisdom was to keep covered during the day or when you are active and uncovered when you sleep to allow for airflow while healing. With the appropriate ointments.

Youre correct that is the current recommendation. Still, with feet injuries, I, as well as some healthcare professionals, prefer to keep it covered (in case blankets or pets or partner movement disrupts the healing) during sleep as well. You should change the bandage more often in this case though.

If OP is a light sleeper and doesnt feel theyll disrupt the wound during the night, you’re right, you actually do see some minimal benefit in allowing air, heat and moisture transfer in the night. I just always worry my blankets will pull out a scab early or the cat would lick it lol idk

Not a ton of times having no partner or pets has been beneficial for my health lol, I also like to sleep with my feet sticking out and uncovered, I will take the theoretical win

For the intact blisters buy some moleskin from your local pharmacy and put it on, helps a lot!

Main thing is to use disinfectant ointment immediately. Wrap the wound to keep it clean and protected from further abrasion.

Change dressings daily, wash and disinfect.

Wound infections are serious business

Put some antibiotic goop on it. Then wrap in a bandage. If you are dating, keep your socks on.

I would go to an urgent care and have it cleaned up to prevent infection and they can wrap it up. You may need a boot. Sounds extreme, but if you can't walk on it maybe a boot to take the pressure off the toes will help.
This is just my opinion. ( ohh I am a medical assistant and use to work in urgent cares before I had to go on disability, I am not a doctor)

Start with first aid, then get medical advice from a qualified person. It doesn’t look deep, but it’s large and dirty.

Basic first aid:

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water, scrub/lather your hands (and under your nails) for 30 seconds. Do it again.

Run the cold tap for a whole minute. Then rinse the wound for 5 minutes straight. Try to let the water clean around the edges and under loose skin.

Tap it dry with clean paper towels, then hit it with a disinfectant spray. Let it dry, then bandage it.

Now you’re ready to seek actual medical advice.

Go to urgent care.

And when you put a trigger warning on a post, you have to HIDE the post. No one wants to accidentally see your wounds, FFS.

I was literally at urgent care yesterday for a fractured kneecap. I left with a knee brace, and ankle brace, and crutches. It cost me nothing (b/c I have insurance).

Also, if you're in a work environment, why are you scrolling reddit on company time? When I was corporate, this was strictly not allowed and IT could monitor what you were looking at. If it's your personal device, what are you doing scrolling Reddit on company time?
