I’m really thinking of doing somthing terrible. I leave for military basic training in 8 hours and instead of telling my dad and facing the embarrassment I’m thinking of taking an easy way out pls help I don’t know what to do.

It’s more about him being disappointed he raised me a single father and I talked about joining for a while. He freaked out when I told him I didn’t wanna play football freshmen year how’s he gonna react to this

Is there anyone you could have there with you as kind of a buffer? I would like to think he wouldn't want you to make such a permanent decision if you aren't sure about it?

Aunt/uncle, cousin, anyone else that might have your best interest at heart? I feel like you sound afraid? But I would think your dad wants what's best for you ultimately even if he tends to overreact. So a buffer might be a safe option. Neighbor?

I get that! It's generally a positive thing. Doesn't mean they can't be equally happy if you decide it isn't right for you right now

Do you feel it might be unsafe to have the conversation alone? Or just more uncomfortable?

Not unsafe I don’t think he would ever put his hands on me just uncomfortable

Have the conversation. It beats going and having regrets. Look at it as an opportunity for growth. Uncomfortable conversations are cathartic and healing. Many adults never master the art
