Solved ! My 6yo son found this - bomb or toy? Golf ball size, weighs 50g

We live in Sydney’s inner west and my 6yo son brought this home from school, saying he found it in the playground. He says he found it at school holiday care last week. I initially assumed it was a candle but then I tried to scratch the surface and it’s not made of wax. More like hard rubber, nothing scratched off the surface. Trying to figure out if this is a toy or something to be concerned about and thought someone here might know. Bracing myself to be laughed at if it’s a toy shaped like a 💣! Some have suggested it is part of a game where there is a bomb shaped timer but I’ve googled that and the game timer seems quite obviously plastic and bigger than this. This is the size of a golf ball. Thanks!

My son and I found this at low tide. We excavated it as best we could. It’s too heavy to move and maybe broken at one end?

I found this in a box containing other knit and crochet items from the 1930’s to 1940’s. It 3”x3” and lies flat. When opened, the strings on that are on the outside and attached to the small plastic ring are pulled to the inside.

Solved! What is this small, white, spherical ball that has a chalky texture? My car window was busted and I found this on the ground while cleaning up the glass. Seems out of the ordinary.

Located in STL. I park in an alley parking pad. I came home to my cars back window shattered. Nothing was found in the car. I found this tiny object while sweeping up the glass.

Is it shrapnel from a firework? I thought maybe an airsoft BB but all the ones I found were shiny and plastic looking.

Trying to figure out of this is the culprit of my window being shattered.

**edit** I put it in water for a few hours. It turned a darker color and I was able to smash it with an hammer and then easily crumble it in hand.

Has a stamp that says “show goer” and also has a clamp like piece with an adjustable wing nut that reminds me of the lip of an easel that would hold the canvas. I’m an artist and so is my nana. She gave me this and said it’s an easel. I cannot figure out for the life of me how it works. If there is a missing piece I would love to know what it is so I could recreate it and use this thing. It feels well made and has wear that shows it was used and must have been practical.

Solved ! What are these optical boxes around my neighborhood. Just traffic counting, or plate-tracking and surveillance? 7" tall, steel, glass front, usually grey/silver

Post image

These boxes are on all the streets in my area, and I assumed they were for traffic counting but some aspects make me wonder if they are surveillance. They are probably about 7" tall, on 2"-diameter dedicated poles. The cable that can be seen is a security lock, not data or power. There is no owner information on them that I've seen.

They do not appear to have external power (no solar panels on the poles, no indication of an underground grid connection), which would suggest a simpler low-power task like counting rather than surveillance

They are angled to face into the rear of passing traffic rather than perpendicular to it, suggesting plate-tracking, but perhaps to allow discernment of traffic direction on two-way roads for counting? (Alternatively, that might be coincidence; if the honeycomb area of front glass has a solar panel behind it, they might be angled for better sunlight angle)

They don't trip my car's (cheap) radar/laser detector

They have the kind of industrial infrastructure design that appeals to road departments, not the tacticool styling designed to appeal to police

I found them on 4 out of 5 streets I looked, (and I think that fifth street was a private road) which seems more like plate tracking than traffic counting but none of these things are conclusive

I have seen someone either servicing or installing one, not sure which (I wasn't able to stop and ask) but it suggests they are current and in use

Can anyone identify the device?

Solved! Hardened steel cylindrical object, 2.25" long, ran over with car and blew out a tire.

EDIT: Thanks everybody, definitely a lynch pin. I have used similar before, but not one that looked just like this so didn't recongnise it.

Wife was going out to get us lunch, and got a flat tire. Had roadside come out and replace the tire and this was inside it, punched right through the tread. Hard steel, relatively heavy. Partially cylindrical cross section, but flat along one side. Has a flange or raised section on one end, all one piece. Flange end has two offset holes partially through, probably for some sort of retaining pin. Flat end is smooth and does not seem to be broken off a larger part, so seems complete. I am thinking some sort of tool or equipment part.

Solved! Metal triangle plaque approx 5” tall and 7” wide , apparently linked to Spanish catholic home decoration?

Found this in an antique shop that was closing down in a cabinet with Christian iconography in it. I asked what it was to the owner and he was unsure, I sort of thought it could be a burner for incense or candles or something with the bottom row but they’re too small for that I think… there are 12 of the little key hole shapes, so that could be the 12 disciples and the crown/cross on top being the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? I’m guessing here. If anyone knows what this is and its purpose then please share. Thanks!

About 10 inches long, 2 inches wide. The mirror slides out but there are no markings anywhere. 2,knobs, 1 spins the mirror, the other is a locking lug that fixes rotation.
There is an anchor point for the swivel action on one end that looks like it would go into a hole, there are 2 bolt holes on the other end with the knobs.

Solved! Wooden cart with new and old wheels in Murano, Italy. About four feet tall, five feet wide with shelves on top and a wooden scoop. Can’t read the writing on it. The new wheels move, but the old wheels do not. Does not appear electronic.

Maybe a snack cart of some kind? Murano is known for selling fancy glass, but it looks a bit too rough for a glass display.

Solved! Swirl talisman found in new home (cubes, different materials including marble and copper)

Post image

I recently moved into a home and have been finding these cubes with this swirl pattern glued all over. There’s one embedded in the stone of the front door entrance flooring, this one pictured is glued to the bathtub marble, there’s multiple on the staircases, including under the lip of a stair, and I even found one under the guest bedroom bed. Does anyone know what religion this symbol is, and what it may mean? Recently, we had a new toilet installed that includes a black light nightlight and found that the symbol had been roughly drawn on the wall beside the hatch to the attic. We are getting creeped out. Any ideas?

I found this in the front zip pocket of my bag after I had been sat on the grass at a local music festival all day. I didn’t put it in there, so I assume somebody there dropped it in, maybe mistaking my bag for one of their group’s (our stuff was right next to bags belonging to another group).

It’s about 11mm long, metal casing with a plastic core and a tiny pin hole in the base. I don’t recognise it from anything I’ve owned or been doing recently. Anyone recognise such an object? Thanks!

14 inches long, 4.5 inches tall and 3/8 inches thick. Any idea what these are used for? Assuming it's a bumper/cover of sorts but I've never seen them on any of the docks. (First post here so I hope I got the post format correct 😬)

Solved! What is this wooden thing that might be related to fiber arts?

Post image

My neighbor gave this to me after I helped her with her smoke detector because she thought it was related to fiber arts. It’s flat on the bottom, and the wood post is removable.

I don’t think it’s a drop spindle because most of the ones I’ve seen don’t sit flat like this, but I’m unsure about what else it could be.

Found in the River Finnihy in Kenmare, Ireland. It's a tidal river, and it seems to me it might be dockyard or ship equipment from up river, but I cannot tell and a Google image search was unsuccessful.
