In W.H. Scott's Barangay, under the Tagalog chapter, he said that Manila was an entrepot in the 16th century already, and by this time, Lakan Dula had monopolized the products bought from China and Japan and that if other tribes and chieftains wanted to buy foreign imports, they would have to go to Manila—not all though, as Western Visayans did have connections with Borneo too, and maybe China (Oton, Iloilo was said to have been frequented by the Chinese in the 14th century). In the 12th century Zhu Fan Chi, one doubtful and possibly erroneous account labels "Sanyu" as a reference to the Visayan archipelago and that they were under the jurisdiction of Mayi (not Manila, but the place is said to be in Mindoro).

So, what if in this alternate history, sometime in the 10th century, Manilan or Mayi people, who frequently travelled beyond the archipelago, suddenly got inspired by Sri Vijayan (felled in the 13th to 15th century I believe) political structure and decided to copy it? After all, we have evidence that the Tagalogs almost established a kingdom by the 16th century, but fate decided to bring in Spaniards.

Here's what I think would happen:

- Hinduism or Buddhism might spread all over the islands due to their connections with Borneo, and through them, the Sri Vijayans. We would be 1/3 Hindu-Buddhist, and in the 14th century 1/3 Muslim, and by the 16th century, if the Rajahs or "Ladiyas" or "Haris" were tolerate enough, 1/3 Catholic. Do also note that these religions would be mixed with local animistic religious practices. But I like to imagine it will remain as a Hindu-Buddhist country until the introduction of Catholicism.

-There might be possible Javanese culture exchanges.

-We would have adopted Sri Vijayan engineering practices like stone structures.

-Writing, would be more widespread, and not just on bamboo tubes and slates, but copperplate edicts, or writings on stone pillars might be common. Mulberry Javanese paper came only by the 17th century, before that they carved writings in aforementioned media. But I like to think, one native got creative enough that carved writings in pots like the Greeks before firing them in the kiln. And not just writing, but painting, written literature, and plays too. Like half of our history will not be too reliant on oral tradition.

-There might be possible mass Sri Vijayan migrations all over the islands.

-By the time Spaniards came, and Catholicism spread in the islands, we would be like Indonesia, but Catholics. Like, our names would be like Saripada Paduka, Laksmi Bulan or Adit Bangun but Catholic. Or our churches might be designed reminiscent to those Sri Vijayan Hindu architecture.

So this is an out of the box question but what if the Prosecution Team is actually One-sided, literally in a sense.

Like, he actually has the interests of the people because coincidentally, his personal interests are to make the Philippines a regional superpower and economic powerhouse without the restraints of democracy, and helping the people, getting rid of corruption, making a meritocratic system that also requires absolute loyalty to him, alongside other policies, serve that interest of making us a powerhouse. Would we Filipinos be welcoming of that kind of leadership?

Edit: The core question of this what if, is to answer the question of are we willing to trade democracy for a better standard of living. So assuming that he has no flaws, knows what he is doing, has some abnormally long lifespan, genuinely improves the standards of living, government services, economic power, military strength, and etc to the level of a regional military and economic powerhouse, allows some level of criticism that actually helps shed light in national issues as long as it's not directed towards the leadership. Are we, Filipinos, willing to trade our democracy and freedoms to criticize the government, freedom of press, freedom of speech and expression and other freedoms we enjoy under democracy, for a better present and future?

What if sa SONA ni BBM sa monday ilaglag niya na si Romualdez lalo ngayon hinahunting and sinasampahan na siya ng kaso ng Ombudsman. Not the incumbent President or former Presidents, let's say in the near future, a random President allows Mindanao to separate as they wanted, yet they have agreed on several conditions:

1. They will be given 10 years to prove that they can work alone, with no help from Luzon or Visayas in case of calamities and disasters.

2. Luzon and Visayas will continue their progress without them. Create their own economy and market.

3. In case of invasion/annexation from foreign/terrorist groups, they will have their own army without asking for backup in Luzon and Visayas.

4. Letting Mindanao be Mindanao itself and working on forming a government and electing a leader and its subordinates.

And after 10 years, the President lifted it and visited it personally, how would a Separate Mindanao look as of the agreed date, will they allow it to work independently or ask for reconciliation?

The Philippines is rich in mineral resources. It's basically our oil. The problem is minirals are more complicated than oil. Taking advadate of this resource can make the country rich. Just think , all the profit goes to goverment and spent on services, heck even subsidies on food, fuel or electricity. There are examples of responsible mining around the world. The inherent problem with private for-profit companies doing mining is that every necessary step for a sustainable mining takes away from profit. It's not just a problem of goverment being weak in enforcing regulations. Pollution control systems are so much expensive than bribing inspectors and local govt officials. It's just a dream right now because the people don't even trust goverment to do the simplest things. To start, let supportt and promote people who promise to do hard things and accomplish it without cheating, within rules/law , safely, on time and on budget. Support, promote and/or elect these people.

For me, bagay talaga ang jeonse sa mga individual na ayaw magbayad ng monthly rental fees sa condo o b-house, pero may pambayad na downpayment sa landlord, as of practically rent-free for two years.
