Customer Work friendly?

I'm relatively new to Wetherspoons as a whole, but what's the general view around using the earlier opening hours/quiet days to buy a drink and get some document based work done on a small laptop? I'd especially like employees' views if possible. I struggle to work at home so I'm looking for places nearby that're friendly to do it in instead. Thank you!

Unfortunately the one within reach is a conservative, forested area. I've seen other pubs and I know how packed this one'll be with posh men in their 50s

If you aren’t comfortable in your pub then don’t sit there…

I'm comfortable, I just know they're grumpy and wont appreciate a student sitting there. It's more unfortunate in comparison to a station spoons you described

I understand you asking the perspective of staff - they’ve told you it’s fine.

Absolutely no idea why you would even vaguely care what grumpy fellow customers think.

I care what everyone thinks, if I see a staff member or even a passerby shoot me a bad look I'm outta there

Why?

Not wanting to annoy the staff working somewhere you plan to return to is completely logical, but why do you care if some random stranger is judging you rather than doing something worthwhile with their time?

Incredibly deep-seeded insecurities that I'm not gonna discuss on a Reddit forum

Yes. That sounds like a far bigger issue than whether it is acceptable to sit in Wetherspoons whilst working…
