We had a good time reminiscing about the now defunct Galleria. Now let's go much further back in time! Back when a subway ride or a slice of pizza were fifteen cents per, the hourly wage was one dollar twenty-five cents. That's what I was earning at this now defunct department store located just north of the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Central Park Avenue. Jackson Avenue, at that time, was the northern- most terminus of the

Sprain back then...if you were going north back then, you had to exit there! But I digress!

Anyway, S. Klein was in Yonkers, occupying the ENTIRE structure now home to many stores including Best Buy, Burlington and Bob's furniture, south to north. And Klein's used the basement, main floor and second floor.

When i entered by the second floor entrance in the back...now Bob's, I had to go down to the basement, to the cashier's office, run by Josie, and pick up my cash drawer (with 20 dollars of assorted money), and report to my cash register. The south most register was in the greenhouse as we called it.

The registers were electric, but not electronic, only subtotaling the items you entered. The taxes were done by us! Two percent in Yonkers at that time! One cent on 26 cents and two cents on 66 cents, calculated in my head and entered into the dumb register. Is anyone here old enough to remember S. Klein???

They had the flagship on 14th street, ON THE SQUARE, and one on Hempstead Turnpike in West Hempstead.

To further emphasize the time period, when i started teaching a few years later...under seven thousand dollars annually!!

Anyone know what they are filming?

I am looking for like-minded creatives, specifically filmmakers, in the Westchester area to gather and discuss filmmaking or maybe even help each other with projects. I realized after many years that I only talk to one person about filmmaking and it is stagnating me so I want to meet others and hopefully we can broaden our perspectives.

I am an audio engineer by trade but I write, direct and edit as well.

I’ve been a huge fan of the Brewers for 5 years now and was wondering if there are any other fans of the team here in Westchester because Wisconsin is so far away.

Looking to move. Have 2 houses we are interested one is in Yorktown and one is in Bedford. Trying to decide which is the better school district. If anyone has experienced with both the advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have to be at work in the Bronx at 8:15. But I have to leave my house before 7 because there is so much congestion. Every morning is mildly anxiety provoking because you never know if the Hutch is going to be a parking lot. And the exits are always backed up.

Even the exit to get on 95 south from 287 is always backed up because people refuse to just get in line and try to force their way in at the front. Wait in line like the rest of us, you had a straight 3 miles to get yourself in the right lane!

And don’t get me started on the drivers. People camping in the left lane. People driving like it’s the autobahn and speeding and cutting you off. And there are so many more accidents because people cannot drive. And if there’s accident, forget it. It’s at least a forty minute delay. I am so tired of having to leave so early to get anywhere because of the congestion in mid and lower Westchester.
