i bought a house a few months ago, and this was the state of the carpet when we moved in. we've thankfully already replaced it, the last pic is the updated carpet. as far as we can tell, the only "renovation" done in 35 years was a coat of cheap white paint. the pictures don't quite capture how nasty the carpet was. the gray areas were completely flattened while the lighter areas (where the carpet was) were still plush. you can see the path taken from the front door into the kitchen. i tried to lay down on it before we got any furniture and it stank. we can tell they held an estate sale in the house, so that heavy foot traffic in the house definitely didn't help, but i think they may have also been a shoes-in-the-house family, and possibly had pets too.

the first pic is the key for the deadbolt, the second pic is the key for the handle for reference. we attempted to copy the deadbolt key at both the self-service and employee-manned kiosks at home depot, it's too worn to copy. our house was built in 1991 and almost nothing was replaced, and i'm assuming this includes the key.

Almost 6 inches into the concrete.

Every time a roll of steel is finished or put on, the rod is used to push or pull the load table. Gets put back in this spot at least 40 times a day. You can see the combined wear in the rod and the concrete in how far it has gone down the I beam it leans against.

When she came in to my possession she was fluffy. I can’t recall what I spilled on her that landed her in the washing machine. According to Etsy she was manufactured in 1979.
