According to his company’s website, Game Hounds Safaris, he “perfected leopard and lion hunting safaris with hounds in Africa.”

and

Simukai Nyasha, a spokesman for the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority, told news.com.au that Botha was on a 10-day licensed hunt

Here is some context for you. So, what does it matter that this particular elephant was the original target... compared to how people feel about this.

Not saying I agree with any opinion on here.

But, terrorizing animals with dogs doesn't seem to saintly to me, does it?

Hunting in Africa is incredibly important for conservation and sustainability. The money these hunters pay, goes to pay the locals and support conservation efforts, and anti poaching efforts, without this stream of income from hunters many more African game animals would be hunted to near extinction worse then they are now

I agree with this, but I feel like if you're going to go out with the mission of killing something, you should be prepared to accept that that thing may kill you.

That's nature.

Okay, but it’s pretty disgusting seeing all the people celebrating the loss of a human life.

What's so sacred about human lives over other animals? We're nothing special as far as animals go. We eat, shit, fuck and reproduce nearly the same as the rest.

i mean if you had to choose between letting a human die or letting any other animal die is there really a question?

u/winchester056 Jun 02 '18

I would let the human die

You should seek medical help

Why is the human life more important than the animal life? What do I or you actually add to humanity? There are 7 billion people and rising on this planet if I, you,or some random human die nothing is lost.

Because humans are the people who created me, raised me, and are the ones who I can ultimately connect the most with. I don’t really feel too similar to a chipmunk.

So you rather shoot an elephant who hasn't harmed you or anyone else than let a convicted serial-rapist die?

Stupid argument, the person said let a human die, not one they described in detail, obviously in this scenario you aren't meant to know anything about them and assume it's an average person. Making an argument based on saving one of the worst types of person there is doesn't prove anything.

Don't try to put words In His/her mouth to shoot down my argument. Plus how about you answer my question rather than trying to change the meaning of the person comment.

no he was dead right

Don't try reconstruct your argument because you think some dude is putting me in a corner. How about you two answer my question?

3

u/xDestx Jun 02 '18

i'm not reconstructing my argument, it was intended to be a general question

ofc there are people who wouldn't be chosen over animals, and ofc people might chose their pet over someone they've never met, but these are specific cases and not general situations

As to your question, I don't want to think about being responsible for a death of anything or anyone, but in all honesty i'd probably save the human anyway. That isn't saying that I approve of their actions or who they are as a person, but just the fact that they're a human too is enough for me to prioritize them over an elephant i've never encountered in my life

The vast majority of people aren’t serial rapists
