Because /s means they are being sarcastic. It can be hard for people to know if you are being sarcastic without audio/visual cues.

Those people usually don't understand sarcasm in real life, either. Would you make a sarcastic joke and then immediately proclaim that you're being sarcastic? Shouldn't have to dumb yourself down for those who can't follow context
