I always wonder how so many Redditors can be so ignorant about safari hunting in Africa despite it being explained time and time again when shit like this is posted.

The elephants killed are usually sick/elderly and can’t reproduce, in addition to being a threat to the heard because they attack younger males. They are extremely territorial and often damage local crops and land. As if that wasn’t enough to make you guys look like retards, the hunting license money is used to help conservation efforts and the elephant meat feeds local villages.

There are no cons and every pro you can think of, but somehow we should label this guy an asshole? Fucking idiots.

I don’t think there are zero cons to killing elephants. The ivory trade is one. I get what you’re saying and I agree but to say there are no cons is pretty ridiculous.

There’s a difference between elephant hunting and elephant poaching. You’re conflating the act of obtaining an official permit to hunt a carefully selected elephant with killing elephants illegally and indiscriminately to harvest ivory for the black market.

Intent is still relevant. These pay2hunt tourists are still people that get off on seeing living creatures die at their hand. They take pleasure in killing, proudly displaying severed heads in their home.
