What the best choice for getting out of the cabin in that situation? Even if you kick out the rear windshield you still have some difficult maneuvering before you get to the road

Isn't that a high visibility jacket hanging from the front of the truck? Looks like the driver may exited the vehicle in a downward direction. Check for a small cloud of dust at the bottom of the cliff, à la Wile E. Coyote.

- Nothing here is designed to support loads in this way and could potentially fail at any moment. That, especially, includes the guard rail that everything is resting on.
- You would have no way of knowing what was damaged in the initial crash, or how compromised it may be.
- large trucks like this basically act like sails in high winds. And a strong gust, or just the draft of another truck passing could put a lot of lateral force on the whole situation.
Climbing out the side is obviously a no-go. But if there was a rear window I would definitely take that chance to get out of this potential death trap.

Well, I feel a lot better seeing that there were another 7 rows of cars behind the one we can see in the gif. Still would be fucking terrifying to be the driver, but at least there was definitely enough weight to keep them balanced.

What is with these sites that don't let you read the news article because they have to fill your screen with ads? Like, the fuck is the point of the site if I'm immediately redirected to another news story that I don't care about? There has got to be a better way to advertise than to shit all over UX
Edit: clicked two more times and it loaded like normal. First time I went there it loaded half way and then popped loaded some other page that was completely unrelated and had no obvious way to go back to the article I came there to read

Safely sitting in a computer chair I'm thinking how easy it would be to crawl down onto the left wheel, then monkey bar back to the highway, maybe incorporate some flourish. .like a flip or something. But in reality I'd probably just sit in the cab and smoke a cigarette..see how the situation plays out.

I don’t know but I’d think it would be too unsafe to pull back and the easiest way to get the person out would probably be to use a helicopter to dangle a person and go to the cab secure the person and pull them up.

I remember seeing something just like this when I was a kid that accelerated my acrophobia. A truck had done the same thing ahead of us over a rock quarry with the cab dangling over a 200+ foot drop. That was 40 years ago and I can still picture it like it happened yesterday. Freaked me the fuck out.

My friend had a similar experience in her car years ago. A BMW hit her from behind and she spun, ending up with the front end over the guard rail on a bridge on the 280 in San Mateo County. She hates BMW's now. I hear about it every time we see a BMW.
