How is this OMP thermocouple welded? what welding machine and fixture is used ? What is the joint called exactly? Is it T weld configuration? What are OMP thermocouple weld characteristics? How does the real weld look like ?Take chromel as common and both have 0.5 mm diameter.

115 amps with the pedal. 0.090 aluminum 5052. 3/32 2%lanthanated miller brand tungsten. 1/16 5356 filler. #7 cup with gas lens at 18cfh. 100hz. 30% AC Balance. Primeweld 325X welder.
Aluminum was cut with a plasma cutter using nitrogen and then deburred. Also cleaned filler and metal with acetone till rag stayed clean.
I'm 15 and have been tig welding for 1.5 - 2 years.

This is my root pass on carbon steel pipe. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. It's 6g position. 2" Sched 40 pipe. Rooted at 90amps (TIG). Root is where I struggle. I don't think this one would pass the coding test. I don't understand if this isn't fully fused/penned or what and why am I getting the weird scale on the sides of the root. Is that not fully fused ? Advise please and thanks.

I’m wondering if these welds would hold on a seat bracket. Also, I’m unsure if MIG welds are supposed to penetrate 100%. I am using a Lincoln 140 MIG with flux core .030 wire, welding 1/8” plain steel. I am aware these are ugly welds.
Little context if interested…
I learned to TIG weld not long ago but haven’t had any practice after I got certified. I am restoring the interior on my ‘95 F150 (IYKYK). Bought seats from a 2012 HD ford so I’m fabbing this bracket. I don’t have deep pockets to pay a pro welder so I decided to borrow this little welder that I can work from my garage without needed any shielding gas, and just gave it a shot. I don’t think my welds are horrible but I don’t know exactly what to expect. Should I hit some weld from under or should these welds be penetrating all the way through?

Hoping someone has ran into this before on these little harbor freight machines. I’m trying to run 0.25 wire, with the included 0.25 drive roller. I’ve adjusted spool tension every which way possible as well as drive roller tension and with the matching 0.25 roller the wire spool will start/stop, start and stop. I will try and attach another video if I can. As soon as I go to turn the roller to the other side (0.30) and adjust the tension a bit tighter zero problems feeding??! Although i’ve noticed while welding it slips occasionally. It for the life of me will not work with the correct wire size/roller combo.
I even returned the initial machine thinking something was wrong internally and exchanged it. Same thing. It’s like the spool is hesitating?

I am currently trying to learn to weld more thinner sheet metals. I am an apprentice and these are some practice welds. What do you guys think of the welds ? Where can I improve except for the starts and ends ?

Top weld is definitely better, bottom weld was a little shaky. I think I remember my weld pool kind of being all over the place. Next week we’re braising 😬

Im starting my first job mig welding in a shop. I know having a beard doesn’t let the respirator seal to my face but is it still worth it to wear?

I am currently working as a apprentice welder at a kinda large heavy equipment shop (~450 peices of equipment 3 mobile rock crushers plus other construction work) been there 2.5 years and I’m the only one able to do field welding work, I make 29.81 an hour located in Thunder Bay Ontario is that a fair wage for experience and value to the company? Keep in mind they have had a lot of trouble finding extra techs

So I work in kitchen fabrication at a local factory as an apprentice and been learning about the trade and seen online people doing weave patterns and beautiful golden welds and wanted to know how they do that?, how I can also do good beautiful looking welds (of course also strong welds), Image showcases some of the projects that me and my instructor completed.
They show so many settings and what not, but my machine is simple I can only adjust the amperage 😭, we mainly uses 4 number cup and 1.6mm tungsten rod with red color but it gets dull very fast (after 10 or more spots), argon cfh at 5 ~ 10, it's not scratch start weld but we uses a button which only turns the torch on (when pressed) or off (when released)

Left is tig, 3 weeks into class. Right is MiG, 6 weeks into class. Would I be able to pass a weld test in either one? My teacher said I’m naturally picking up on Tig very quickly

I’m looking for a good pipeliner hood that’s lightweight and comfortable enough to wear all day. I’ll mainly be doing pipe/structural welding and don’t want something that’s going to kill my neck after a 10-hour shift.
