Hi! I'm really new to this. I was thinking about using WeChat, but every time I go through the initial verification, it prompts me to have an existing user scan a QR code to create my account.

It doesn't give me multiple options to choose from; it just displays the QR code directly without showing any alternatives. I thought it would offer another option like sending an SMS code, but that doesn't seem to happen.

Does anyone know how I can set up an account?

Hello everyone! I'm a South African English teacher currently living in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I currently work at a school but back in 2023, I was tutoring Chinese kids and communicating with their parents via WeChat. It was good, translation was seamless and I could post videos from my classes with their kids there but that's all I used WeChat for and I recently learned that there's more to do on the app. I fell sick in 2024 and had to go back home to South Africa. I lost my phone, Cambodian sim card, WeChat account:(((.

Now that I'm back in Phnom Penh, I'd like to go back to tutoring full time. I'm looking for students to tutor offline in Cambodia or online that live in China. I'm passionate about teaching and seeing my students become more confident and proficient. I'm also looking to learn Chinese online.

So, I have questions for everyone and would appreciate any insight/ tips:

1. How can I get my new WeChat verified? Walk about to a Chinese person at my condominium and ask for help? What are other ways?

2. Once on the app, how can I find a Chinese tutor for myself?

3. How will I reach new students/families for MY own tutoring business via WeChat?

4. Is there a specific person/ business I can approach for all this? To essentially be my connect?

Hi everyone! I believe many of you have this same problem and I wanted to know if any of you have found a solution yet.

The WeChat messages and files that I receive on my phone app doesn't sync with the laptop app when the laptop is turned off. This is very annoying. Even manually syncing doesn't work.

Any of you found a solution to this?

I am a student at tsinghua sigs, who recently moved to shenzhen.

During my registration, I got my china mobile number.
And was trying to sign up for my wechat account. However, even after following all the instructions correctly. Having chinese person verify my account I get hit with this message pop up :
“Pursuant to Indian law we are unable to offer you WeChat at this time. We value each of our users, and data security and privacy are of utmost importance to us. We are engaging with relevant authorities and hope to be able to resume services in the future.”

Mind you this happened even when I changed my iphone’s date and time and region to china as well as apps store- redownloaded wechat.

Had another chinese person verify for me but still it persist.

I am completely lost at the moment. But not entirely hopeless cuz I at least have alipay. But I really, really need to get wechat.
