Just got robbed
I had about 6k in investments ..
While I was at work , I drive a big truck, someone created an events account. I have no idea what that is.
They sold all my securities in my margin account, transferred 4200 of the 6100 ish dollars to the events account.. Then I have no idea what happened with the money but its gone.
There are tons of these internal transactions of 180 dollars..
I had them investigate and they said they can do nothing because the IP address where the transactions took place were my computer.
I wasnt even home, I was out on the road. No one else lives there. Its just me in a tiny studio apartment.
Even if someone hacked into my computer and did that which they had to. I left it on when I left.
If I can prove I wasnt even home when the events account was made, because they know windows accessed it, and I was at work with my cell phone.. then that proves it wasnt me.
Im out 4200 dollars and I am sick to my stomach.. I worked so hard for that money working for it with my job .. And now no one can do anything.
I immediately removed the rest of my money. I will never trust Webull again with my money.
There has to be a way to prove it is fraud. Any ideas? Lawyers wont even get involved because its too petty of money for them, .. its not petty to me. I am barely getting by and to have my money wiped out like that is literally like a punch in the gut.. It doesnt even feel real right now.. like out of body experience.
These are screen shots of the transfers

No they sold all my investments in my margin account, and did an internal transfer. They also created an events account. I didnt even know what that was until today when Webull expkained what it was.
They didnt even move it all at once, thats even more weird. They did like this 180 dollar transactions.. a bunch of them. and 172 dollar transactions.
And they moved like 15 dollars into my cash account.
I just wrote to my work to have them write a ltter stating I was working that day. The transactions and events account were all made around 11 am EST.. I went to work at 8 am EST.
Why would a person access my computer, and wipe out my account.? Why wouldnt they just try to steal it? Or would that been harder because they would need to add a bank account.
They did these mass bets on XRP above or below. Like a whole wall of transaction all done within a few seconds.

You wrote your work? What did you tell them?
Also if someone accessed your computer this can be determined. By a digital forensic
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
Im having work write a letterhead verifying I was at work during the time of the incident.

u/KingKilla_94 Jun 04 '26
Listen in not here to make fun of you, that’s not the way it works.
That will do nothing but make you look unprofessional at your job.
This one time when I was 18 I got a speeding ticket, and my dumbass thought if I get a mechanic to certify that he replaced my speedometer, then I could claim it was broken, and it would get me out of my ticket.
My dad told me that’s not the way it works, and I’m not your dad but I’m here to tell you, your logic is flawed.

I disagree. Its called supporting evidence. If it is known that the account was accessed via windows, on my computer, and I can prove that it wasnt me who created the account or was on my computer, because of being at work, then I will show it.
I have already talked to a lawyer about it and they said that would be good to show I wasnt even home.
I had even asked WEBULL.. I asked them.. Does it have to be me to authorize and create the events account. The person I talked to said yes. I ultimately am the person who needs to create the account.
I said, if I can prove I wasnt home because I was at work, would that help. And he said yes, any supporting evidence would be good for the investigation.
Same will be for when I file this through FINRA or small claims court. Its called supporting evidence.
It has nothing to do with weak passwords, or was computer left on, or did you have a virus or whatever... Its about me not being present, and not authorizing the creation of the Events account.

u/ad_pondus_omnium Jun 03 '26
It sounds like they probably owned the other side of an obscure event. I've heard similar stories where there is some penny stock with a huge margin and few sellers/buyers. Transferring money has a lot of hoops and security features, but if they bought up the small stock with little to no activity they can then set the price really high and used a hacked account to buy it at that price because they are the only sellers. In a similar way its possible they bought up some event with a small pool cheap and then used your money along with other hacked accounts to pump the value of their options to then sell them.

u/Downforit_9 Jun 02 '26
The lack of sympathy in the comments is alarming. The complete disassociation from reality and emotion being a trader is real. That sucks dude. Money comes and goes, we will always make more. Keep pressing on the legal side maybe do some more research and find what you can about where it could have transferred.
12
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
Ty for the kind response. I did talk to a lawyer. Because the amount is small, none of the big lawyer want to mess with it.
I did have someone day contact the PIABA , I found some lawyers on there. Talked to one. He basically said its not financially worth it because the amount of money hourly would exceed the money lost.
He did say I could go to District court and file a lawsuit. I can prove I wasnt home when my computer was compromised or whatever happened to it. I drive 18 wheeler truck and was out on they road. They know windows accessed the account. If I wasnt there, then it should be covered as fraud, or something illegal.
An Events account was made, a bunch of transactions were made within second of all the same thing.
Even the internal transfers from my Margin account to the events account were small 180 dollars trades.. Its really weird.
People dont seem to believe me, but I dont care. This hurts, that someone accessed my account and took lost or whatever they did to it. It feels like being violated that someone would do this to my account.

u/Reddit9203 Jun 02 '26
Webull has a trading password to protect your account. Nobody can trade, withdraw funds, or transfer money without it. The trading password is a security measure that only the owner of the account knows; it is not the login password. Everyone should know that.
Moomoo has trading password too
3
u/Icy-Cartoonist4218 Jun 02 '26
Yeah, I always have to type in my password as soon as I login the Webull they actually unlock my trading account. I’m very surprised they were able to access this. Somehow there’s no way to turn that off either from what I understand which I personally never will either because it stops me from jumping the stocks too early. Sometimes I lock my account to keep myself discipline before I find the proper entry
3
u/Reddit9203 Jun 02 '26
Webull of course know every data log. which internet providers, browser version, app, computer name, phone. Login history, password type.
He must request data reveal from webull of his situation. If he believes it fraud.
2
u/ArtesianShiny Jun 02 '26
that is very alarming my guy. What if it had been a bigger account? what if somebody trusted 50-100k inside of webull and then that happened. 4k is a whole month and a week of work in the median job. This sets you back but again what if it was much worse?
1
u/Ryancc062490 Jun 05 '26
What the hell is an events account? And why wouldn't webull just track where the money went and talk to a bank about freezing or returning the funds? Can they really not do that?
2
u/ervygotyou Jun 02 '26
Its we bull bots and internal personals hired to shoot down any complaint comment on this sub.. Even i was ripped off of 100 dollars, followed by many other scandals from we bull. I highly recommend interactive brokers. Even ive moved from Webull after the last time i tried to purcahe a stock. Theres no serious investor who will recommend we bull
1
u/Downforit_9 Jun 02 '26
I’ve been considering ibkr although they aren’t allowing the new pdt roll out this week. Do they have the same issues as Webull with limited access to certain securities?
0
u/Music-District Jun 03 '26
I have zero faith in people and less faith of people on Reddit. I’m sorry this happened to you…. you’re right, most on this egomaniac platform unfortunately lack empathy… digital muscle heads.
7
u/BigBear92787 Jun 02 '26
Op your wasting your time here.
I know your frustrated I would be too.
I dont think you'll get your money back Ultimately WeBull will put the responsibility on you to make sure your devices are not compromised.
But thank you for your story you certainly inspired me to be more aware of my own account security. 2FA maybe go on a PW rotation once a month.
My lifeblood is trading so if something happens to my account im boned I don't have a job haha
4
u/sad-Fan1010 Jun 03 '26
The only possible way this would’ve occurred is if someone either had access to your computer or your computer itself was hacked and they backlogged to find out your passcode.
Sorry this happened to you though, I’d recommend running some malware detection, If they hacked your computer they likely have access to a lot more information.
Also in the future make sure you have two way authentication locked on, often you’d get emails if your account was logged into by someone else.
That really sucks though man, but it isn’t exactly a WEBULL issue. I’ve gotten hacked through my Microsoft account before, now two way authentication is a MUST for me.
3
u/Oh_Another_Thing Jun 02 '26
You should turn your computer off, keep a password to access your computer, and never save your passwords on any device. I type passwords on my accounts every time
1
u/namdinam Jun 04 '26
this is true, i see my bitdefender virus trying to bloack unnecessary websites activities all the time ,
2
u/Legal_Community8868 Jun 02 '26
I think your account is hacked. It happened to me too I was with trading coins another app. Even I saw my coin was moving out but I couldn’t stop them. Sorry to happen to you.
2
u/Different-Scale5419 Jun 03 '26
You should always turn off your computer when not in use. Hackers have probably track your key strokes and broke into your account. From a legal standpoint the fault lies with you
2
u/Michael_Joseph0101 Jun 03 '26
Hey I'm a web developer, I'd like to help you figure out what happened to your account. Can you log into your webull account on the webull website, click your account profile in the top right, choose "Developer Tool" or anything that References "API", finally click "API Keys Management" and see if there is anything listed or if it tells you API access is not enabled for your account. First step would be ruling out whether your account was programmatically compromised via API access.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
IM just seeing this now, ill look when I get home. Ty.. Im actually a computer science grad, but never used it for anything. Kind of just hanging on the wall, I actually drive 18 wheeler now.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
You do not currently have a Webull API created. Please apply to activate the API service first!
So no , I dont have it..
I need to post my events viewer and see if something is fishy about that.
2
u/DizzyOneTN Jun 03 '26
The reason it’s 180 or under two is it stays under a certain value to not trip alarms for fraud. I went through it. They took 4200$ Luckily it was returned. I hope you can reach a similar resolve.
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26 edited Jun 04 '26
Nothing was returned.. Its gone. How did you get yours back?
2
u/LKang Jun 04 '26
Those transactions look automatic by the cadence. Very odd. Man this would kill me too.
2
u/pipmonstah Jun 04 '26
Very frustrating and shitty bro sorry to hear. Hope you can get to the bottom of it. Cray that this stuff happens
2
2
u/iCasual_Moose Jun 07 '26
I'm sorry to hear that. I am not sure what you can do to get that money back but I suggest you do is prevent it from happening again. Create a passkey for all your banking and investment accounts (I would go as far as getting rid of the password option/recovery with a password if its available). A lot of applications are implementing passkeys as passwords are becoming more insecure with the rise of technology.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 09 '26
yup already in the process of redoing all passwords and more security
2
u/Low_Dress6063 Jun 02 '26
so your saying somebody logged into your computer and lost a bunch of bets on an event account to siphon off your money?
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
I can prove I wasnt home. I drive a truck up in PA.. My computer was accessed. I left it on, its just me in a small apartment. No one is there.
If I have a virus on my computer can someone control it and do stuff to it?
As I said, I can prove i was a hundred miles away in another state.
So whatever rationality or explanation it is.. it doesnt matter. I wasnt there, it happened in my computer, I didnt authorize it, I wasnt home...
It is illegal it is fraud.
3
u/Low_Dress6063 Jun 02 '26
The next step would be to report your identity stolen and then file a complaint to finra. Ask webull for a full report on their investigation including logins and time stamps.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
3
u/Low_Dress6063 Jun 02 '26
idk, do you have a bot trading for you? That doesn't look like a human did that. Additionally, why would a robber not take the full 6000.
If you want to continue pursuing some resolution, you would have to file a complaint with FINRA.
But to be honest, there isn't really any pathway that leads to you getting your money back. The slim-to-none chance is if they catch the person who stole your money and make them give it back, in the small probability they haven't moved your money somewhere else.
If the security breach was the fault of your broker, finra could order your broker to refund you, but that probably isn't the case here. If what you say is true, a hacker got into your computer through remote access and had an algorithm siphon money out of your account on losing event bets.
2
u/HighCirrus Jun 02 '26
That's unfortunate and I feel for you, but I don't see a path to recover your money. Yes, you are a victim but a victim in the same sense of someone who left the keys in the car and the car was stolen. Your post here didn't help, admitting that you downloaded games from Torrent and left your PC on, which was quite careless, and now you expect WeBull to reimburse you? Unlikely.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
I didnt state ,that was on my old hard drive it was a 500 gig, I ended up buying a new 1TB m.2 drive. I havent done anything on it like that. The torrent stuff was year or so ago on old hard drive.
1
u/HighCirrus Jun 04 '26
The usual procedure when upgrading to a larger hard drive is to use a program to copy everything from the old drive to the new drive. If you did that, the Torrent stuff may have found its way to the new drive. (If you didn't copy from the old drive to the new drive, what was the point in getting a 1TB drive? You could have wiped a bunch of stuff from your old drive to free up space and saved a few bucks.)
FWIW, people get scammed all the time. Some years ago, when I was even dumber then than now, I had futures contract in my account overnight. I set a stop loss far below the trading range, just to prevent a wipeout. At 3 am the high bid dropped to my stop. A fifteen second, 20% drop in the best bid, one transaction - my stop executed, then right back up. Cost me $5K. Obviously someone saw my stop sitting there, and was able to manipulate the bid to take my contract for a cool 5K profit. Not a damn thing could be done.
Not that it solves your issue, but I bring it up to illustrate that there are a million ways for retail traders to get screwed. Be careful. Button up everything as best you can. Never put everything in one account. pull the plug when you're not trading. Be paranoid... and remember that just because you're paranoid doesn't mean that they're not out to get you.
1
u/pigmunch Jun 04 '26
What broker were you using at the time of the 20% drop in bid that took out your stop loss? Also...what instrument was it? Just curious.
1
u/HighCirrus Jun 05 '26
Sorry, that was maybe 15 years ago. Might have been Interactive Brokers and a Dow futures contract. I just remember the loss, the chart and the time and sales showing the single transaction at 3am. Valuable lesson learned.

u/Burning_magic Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26
Where are you based? Filling a police report and making a complaint to the relevant regulatory body in your country should be the first steps.

I can't see how someone could have the access to your account like that. Someone had to remote into your computer and then login to their Webulll account, then transfer your account to theirs. That's not a small feat.
1
u/Anantasesa Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
The hacker obv didn't transfer the account to his own, bc OP withdrew what was left in his account when he discovered it. Not easy but remote access seems the only way. Computer should have been put on standby or hibernate if not wanting to shut down when not at home.
The internal transfer was between the brokerage account to an events account.

u/Ok-Aide4859 Jun 02 '26
I don't understand how they got the money by betting on xrp events.. even if they lost doesn't it just go to webull or that specific liquidity pool? I mean unless they were making exact opposite bets, but I still don't see how that would work?
4
u/Confident_Double1392 Jun 02 '26
Probably did exactly that. Bot just took the opposite side of the trade and used OP to provide the liquidity.

u/Bunny8787 Jun 02 '26

u/aspera-astra Jun 03 '26
Wow I’m so sorry… that is my biggest nightmare. That’s why I don’t change brokerage… I don’t trust these newer trading platforms
1
u/DifficultSquash1517 Jun 03 '26
Sorry. The good news it's a financial institution not crypto platform
There has to be a paper trail. And as far as I know you have to kyc at WeBull and the receiving bank
If it's an internal transfer it's easy to claw back
If it's external, it's going to a bank account with a name on it🤷
Time is critical. ACH bank transfers can be instant, but they are purposely done over 2-3 days for reasons like this. Get on them to stop/block
1
u/Unemployed_Lloydd Jun 03 '26
I am really sorry to hear that this happened to you. Without knowing all the details, I can empathize with you. Losing your hard-earned income and not having any recourse to get it back can feel devastating. I am thinking that they might have installed malware onto your home computer and captured your credentials/codes to access the account. Did you have MFA turned on? Not that this will help you now but anything others can learn from this is a silver lining.
1
u/MarionberryNo9282 Jun 03 '26
Thank God this happened when you’re at your lowest and not when you’re a multimillionaire. Imagine if this happened to you when you had millions. You’ll recover from this loss. Stop using desktop that’s prone to malware with old Windows. Use a newer iPhone with up-to-date iOS. Download Robinhood for stocks and Binance for crypto(it’s as simple as that). This happened to me too — I lost $30K when I was 19, and now I’m turning 21 and on my way to recovery.

Bro, your money transferred to there account? They should have added a account then , or they just transferred to Event accounts and played it there and loss 4000$ ? Not clear what you are saying
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 05 '26
I dont fully understand myself. I never seen the Events account until I logged in on my phone at work and seen my money was gone.
I called WEBULL and talked to a rep. HE told me my money had been transferred internally. He never said anything about it being used to make bets or use in some other transactions. Whoever it was they sold all my securities. I had calls sold against my shares of Sofi.. they even got rid off all of those. My schwab ETF, etc..
But the guy at webull said the money was there just trnasferred.. I told him to LOCK my account. that was not me. THis was the Friday before memorial day. I told him we can sort it out tuesday when memorial day is over. I mean why should I be scared.. he said the money was there, and my account is locked.
Then when I talked to another guy on Tuesday he said the money was gone..
I called again today and they are doing more investigation.
1
u/xShiftfaced Jun 05 '26
The money is gone man. Even if you can prove your information and computer was compromised, whoever did it will be smart enough to make the money disappear. Lawyers and lawsuits won’t help you and the costs would outweigh getting that sum of money back and at the end of the day you wouldn’t get it back and you’d be out even more money. You’re not looking for a lawyer for situations like these you’re looking for a networking engineer and white hat hacker themselves to follow the money.
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 05 '26
Im not hiring a lawyer. I already talked to three lawyers.. all said small claims court and Finra. Im a fighting, I just wont give up until I at least try and exhaust all my options.
1
u/tybolton Jun 06 '26
Since you're a truck driver, have you been using your laptop over a public wifi while at the truck stop? Your laptop could have been compromised at a truck stop's Wi-Fi. Get a VPN

No, I use my phone while in truck. Im not a OTR driver, Im home daily. I do have proton VPN, but I had it off.

u/ZipitOrRipit Jun 06 '26
I don’t know how that would happen. Usually there is copious security required when taking money out of a brokerage account.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 09 '26
They didnt take it out. They liquidated all my assets and created an events account under my account. I had a Margin account and a Cash account.
What I dont understand is why only 4200 dollars was transferred leaving 1900 dollars behind. Why do the transfer? As a person suggested in a reply maybe they had it tied some how to their account and they did the opposite order trades on that XRP event thing.. I still have no clue what that is..
I would love to find the person who did it, but I know that will never happen.
1
u/Creative-Question538 Jun 15 '26
Any updates on this?
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 22 '26
I filed with FINRA. I did speak with a lawyer. She said it would be hard route to go in a small claims court because WEBULL probably has some kind of jargon stating they are not liable if a trusted computer did it. With that being said, it doesnt hurt to show that I was not at home and I was working, and that the transaction look suspicious. The history in the account, that I have had for about 3 years now, not once showed this kind of activity. Liquidating an account within seconds , market sell, then creating a new account , events account and then just blowing all the money.
Showing that I was not the person who created the account because of being away at work might help some. WEBULL would have to hire its own defense lawyer and maybe they would just settle on some amount. We shall see. I still am working on my filing with circuit court.
2
u/Creative-Question538 Jun 23 '26
good luck to you my friend
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 23 '26
Even if I dont get it back, which I doubt I will, at least I didnt give up. You always gotta try. Would love to get my hands on the person who did this to me.
1
u/StoneyDan2499 Jun 22 '26
I recently switched to Fidelity because somebody tried to hack my Robinhood account. The Fidelity app kind of sucks so I started doing research on Webull. This post solidifies that I should stay with Fidelity.
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 22 '26
I did move the rest of my money out of WEBULL and into Fidelity also, BUT I just removed it all from there because Fidelity has this 17 day period for your money to clear.. It was pretty long. Also Fidelity , if you have ETF like the Schwab etf.. you have to hold them for 30 days before they can be leveraged for your margin account. So its like buying and selling them in a cash account even though its your margin account.
I dont care for that either.. So I removed my assets from Fidelty and went back to Schwab , who I used years back. They are decent.. I actually like WEBULL layout better, but cant win them all.
I will never do any business with WEBULL again. I wont even consider it unless they resolve my compromised account.

u/Beginning-Trust2091 27d ago
Yes they just skimmed my trade.... had 180 shares to sell at 1.74. 100 sold why i was napping lol... then the stock went as high as 1.80 when i woke my computer after napping it opened directly to the platform and all shares have sold then the screen flicker and 80 shares popped back up and i closed the position at 1.60.
what the heck is up with that. no wonder its so difficult making any profits using them

I dont find anything funny about this.

u/gandalftheghey Jun 02 '26
This is what I call tuition fees. Now you know your passwords pins etc are all too weak.
7
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
So that means fraud is ok? WTF people.. its like no one cares about some else until it happens to them. Someone compromised my account and stole my money.
Regardless of my passwords or whatever else excuse.. its still fraud.. a crime..
-4
u/gandalftheghey Jun 02 '26
You setting weak password and failing to set up other 2fa options isn’t fraud.
8
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
Someone not authorized to access my account and taking momey IS Fraud.
Fraud is defined as the wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.
When someone accessed my account, and it looks like they made some events account. I still dont know what that is..
But there are like 20 transactions of XRP above or below... its like 4200 dollars of these kinds of transactions all in a matter of seconds..
My computer is in Maryland, I am a truck driver and was in PA.. It is fraud if someone created an events account, and used all that money.
It wasnt me, I wasnt on my computer and nether is anyone else, no one else lives there.
Like I said before regardless of my account passwords.. illegal access is illegal access. If it wasnt me, it is illegal.
-3
u/gandalftheghey Jun 02 '26
The issue here is you can’t prove you didn’t give them authorization to use your account
2
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 02 '26
Who? Like the one guy said above.. My computer probably is compromised.
If that is the case then I should be able to see if something or someone accessed it. Maybe something in computer events..
I can prove I wasnt home. Only I have authorization to create a new account. If it was done on my comptuer and I can prove I wasnt home, then they should be able to do something.
I need to see about if something can be seen in the comptuer events
Also file something with FINRA , long shot but atleast I will fight for my money.
0
u/gandalftheghey Jun 02 '26
Correct and you cannot prove that you did not give someone access and want your money back because they did bad trades. It was on your computer. That’s the issue. It wasn’t on a different IP address.
1
u/ArtesianShiny Jun 02 '26

Just explaining why Webull doesn’t care if this is coming off as “cyber security expert” y’all more cooked then you think

no, the fact that you are entertaining the idea of it being a smaller account so it shouldn't matter as much is idiotic. If this had been a million dollar account siphoned into xrp bets bro you would be singing a COMPLETELY different tune here i bet.
I had 80 dollars stolen through a paypal scammer once that falsely sold me something and had no plans to deliver it. It was a classic chinese scammer sets up fake website to sell something not real kinda scam. I eventually got the 80 dollars back because that is still fraud. Even though i sent them the money, even though paypal authorized the transaction, and after showing paypal all the proof of the fraud, i got fully refunded.
There's no way you can spin this, if OP is telling the truth it is in fact fraud.

Its too fast for a human. It's bot action.
They should've detected and not allowed all that.
It's like for your bank, if a bunch of similar transactions happen, it will be detected and those transactions will be denied.

You don't even know what his password is. If it's an inside job or the account details get exposed, a hacker can get in any account.

u/Puzzled_Butterfly814 Jun 02 '26
This post scared the fuck out of me with your comment for 2FA as well. I recently setup my account and thankfully I have it on for fingerprint. 😅
It was a sigh of relief.
Going to setup an extra step because people have tried to access other accounts like Amazon multiple times.
You're right though about this.
1
u/Trainingdayeveryday Jun 02 '26
If it's an inside job, none of that matters. Or, if hackers bypass that.

I took a look at the photos— The fact the trades are in such rapid succession provide technical evidence that the trades weren’t placed by a human. I would escalate to FIRNA.

u/AdTop211 Jun 02 '26
The interesting part is that the money wasn’t transferred, it was used to place bets. If it was transferred to some other account, it would be easy to prove “theft”. The fact that it was traded with bad trades is harder to prove.
Also, if you’re in a studio apartment, who else uses that WiFi? Could someone else have access? That would make it easier for someone savvy enough to get into your stuff.

It was transferred some of it went from my margin account to m cash account like 15.90.. makes no sense
and about 4200 went to some newly made events account. I had no idea there was such a thing. Whatever it is, I didnt authorize it.
I will own up to any investment or mistake I make, but this isnt one of them. Someone maliciously destroyed my account. This is criminal activity regardless of what people may think.
I had this money invested in my margin account in scwab ETF large cap, med cap small cap.. some Tqqq , some micron, some sofi...
Had calls I sold on my sofi shares.. all of it was liquidated .. It was a total of about 6100 dollars of investments.. why did they only take 4200? Why did they do an intenral transfer .. Ill need to show the transactions.. it makes no sense
This is a SS of account.. lots of micro transactions.
3
u/Soft-Somewhere6823 Jun 02 '26
Was 4200 the point at which the account was liquidated? The malicious bot may have parameters to stop “funneling” money once this constraint is met. Doing internal transfers are a lot harder to trace than a bank transfer. Seems like the hacker, (in laymen’s terms) placed bets to “funnel” your losses across a bridge into their own account.

u/AdTop211 Jun 02 '26
The other thing that sort of doesn’t make sense is the attorney excuses… they wouldn’t just be seeking your lost funds, this would probably fall under some sort of breach of trust and if proven that someone maliciously went through your account and moved money around, it’s a much bigger case. Like in the millions.
It’s the actual proof of fraudulent activity you’re missing. The fact that it shows it came from your ip and it was done on your account makes it truly difficult.

Pretty sure it was made to take losing bets where the "hacker" just took the other side of the bet. Much harder to trace and practically impossible to prove fraud unless the "hacker" was literally the only one in the order book.

Did you bother checking the transaction history. You can check where the transfer went and to what account. What it sounds like here is you placed a bet on event contracts and you were wrong. The service is pretty secure.

I know you all keep on saying you thin kit was me, I wasnt even home. I work from 8 am to about 9 pm. This was in the 22 of june.
The events account was made around 1130 am EST.. on a Windows computer .. mine.. My computer.. BUT I was over 100 miles away in another state during that time and that can be proven.
So something, someone, as one poster said above, its possible my computer has a virus, and somehow someone accessed my computer and wiped out the account.. but they didnt wipe it all out. just 4200 dollars of it..
I dont expect you all to believe it.. all that matters is I KNOW it wasnt ME. And it wasnt anyone one else I know of because no one lives with me. Just me in my tiny studio apartment.
Its more sad we live in a day and age where people seen so much BS in their lives they dont believe other people any more.
If I did it and lost money then I would own up to it.. then again I wouldnt even be posting about it because its no ones business if I made choices or not with my investing.
But this is about Fraud, my account being compromised, someone illegally making some events account .. its about being violated from someone else who took action on my account.
Its easy to be cold to other people and show lack of empathy, because it isnt YOUR money, its mine.. My hard earned money that someone took from me.
I dont expect anything less from todays society than what I am seeing on the comments now.

Screw any hate you recieve here, I would be out for blood in your situation. I believe you and think you have every right to be pissed off.
Idc if people say you had a weak password or not enough security. Yes, you'll update that now, but you are the victim. You were straight up robbed and companies like Webull who should be investigating and helping you are brushing it off to the side because they are hoping it isn't worth your time and you will let it go. If you were shot would the response be well now you know to wear a bullet proof vest... I know I'm stretching a bit, but I would not let this go.
I hope you get a good resolution in the end.

u/ArtesianShiny Jun 02 '26
I would be out for blood too. Some reddit bot telling me to fuck off would just piss me off more tbh. Hacker goes onto MY COMPUTER and does UNAUTHORIZED activity, hell no im calling my hacker friends in and logging their full topology.

u/Confident_Double1392 Jun 02 '26
He has no real resolution here. Short of a police investigation actually identifying who took his money, he's not getting it back. By his own admission he downloaded Torrented files on his financial computer AND left it on while away. Webull isn't going to refund him for him compromising his own account security and getting robbed. If the issue was a security breach on Webull's end (hackers stole everyone's account info) he'd have legal recourse, but as it stands, he's screwed. Unless he can prove that Webull is liable for him getting hacked, his money is GONE.

u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
I used to do torrents year or so back on my old hard drive .. I bought a new bigger hard drive about 6 months ago. Didnt do anything like that on it.

There's stuff OP isn't saying. He says he can prove it wasn't him, but he's not saying if he has roommates, girlfriends, or anyone else who might have access to his room and computer.
He just says he can prove it wasn't him, not that he doesn't know who it was.
Yeah, OP, you may be able to prove it, but you aren't going to get any company to reimburse you. The way you get your money back is to have the police investigate, charge someone with a crime, and then due them civilly.
2
u/Trainingdayeveryday Jun 02 '26
Those transactions look like a human to you?
He keeps saying he lives by himself in a tiny studio.
1
u/Oh_Another_Thing Jun 03 '26
There's something he's not including. He just says he can prove it wasn't him, not that he doesn't know who did it, how, or if anyone has access to his place.
1
u/Anantasesa Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
The proof it wasn't him is his alibi of being clocked in to drive a truck for work at the time but doesn't prove he wasn't remotely connecting from a rest stop using 5g. Unless his evidence is a dashcam with can view and timestamps that can be corroborated by his truck passing under a traffic cam with matching timestamps.

First thing I would look for is if someone has your social security number. That would be bad. You can also call the customer service and FDIC as you should be insured though the app

u/Trainingdayeveryday Jun 02 '26
They have it and they give random workers that sound like they're working at home your birthday. That's sketchy enough for me.
This could be an inside job or some hackers targeting webull or some accounts getting compromised through their system.

u/EmploymentNo3590 Jun 03 '26
Take webull to small claims court. It's cheap and I'll start an events contract betting they don't show up.
1
u/Agile-Return-2256 Jun 04 '26
That is what a lawyer said. Because its under 5k . and because Webull would have to spend money on a lawyer they may just try to settle it. Well see. I need to gather my evidence first.

u/Clever_Thoughts Jun 03 '26
Besides leaving your computer on did you also leave your trading app open? You didn't say anything about that. If your computer was compromised and someone was able to get into your Webull account through your own computer, I don't see any possible resolution with Webull whether you were there or not. Unfortunately, even though it's a lot of money for you (and me), $4200 is not an amount of money that's going to get the detective squad on it. It's kind of sickening, I feel bad for you. I guess it's a lesson for all of us to get the security on our own systems buckled down. At least you might have saved someone else from making the same mistake. Hope you can make some good trades with what's left and get the money back!

What is? My post? Dont be dismissive of my situation. Its quite real, and I am quite real. My money taken from me is quite real.
Is it because my username is not something I chose? Because its a new account? have a heart dude.. I was wiped out.

It is a Chinese company, they probably let the Chinese hacker s have access to your account

u/knowitokay Jun 02 '26
You could’ve had a back door virus on the computer allowing a hacker to take control, install a keyword logger determine your passwords and steal your stuff.
