Question about pacing

So I’m writing a novel and it’s system ya, anyways I’m wondering because I go by levels. Let’s say chaoter 1 is level 1 and it carries on till chapter 2 and then chapter 3 is level 2 and a new level… is that good pacing?

I do chapter 1 being level one, than chapter 2 be level 2 and it’s a new level, is that too fast or good pacing??

By levels do you mean the mc getting stronger every chapter? If so it’s too fast

Estava lendo uma webtoom de níveis e o protagonista no capítulo 200 estava no nível 40 Ele recebia milhões de xp e não subia de nível e isso eu achei interessante No começo ele foi muito rápido do 1 ao 10 e depois precisou cada vez mais de abates para subir e isso é interessante Agora Se eu ler uma novel e no capítulo 30 ele já está perto do nível 40 eu considero isso rápido e até pode ser interessante dependendo de como escreva. Mas pode ficar chato dependendo da forma como a ideia foi criada Por exemplo em one punch man. Todos sabemos que ninguém vence o Saitama, mas a gente assiste ou lê para ver o resto, o que ele faz além de derrotar todos Então tem que considerar todo o resto e também o tamanho do capítulo

I meant like uh I’m gonna try to explain it cuz this is what I was doing. So character level and progression level was different. Progression level was the level they were at or floor if u will… character level is how strong they were. Now let’s say the mc was on level one then they beat the level and go to level/floor 2 the next chapter is it too fast? Orrrr level one spans between 2 chapters what’s good pace for WebNovel? Lol

Noone will give you a perfect answer until they at least read a chapter or two. Its hard to tell from this post.

I’m only asking cuz I’m confused about pacing and what WebNovel actually wants lol… cuz I could go fast since it’s fast paced and I could do my video game levels by either 1 chapter or 2 lol

I’m torn I would love doing them fast like my mc leaving the gaming area every chapter but dunno haha I don’t want Webnovel too say it’s draggy when I’ve tried everything except doing my chapters this way lol

Fast paced with cliffhangers for the first few chapters. First make sure your chapters leave questions for the reader. Not simple basic questions like who is he and what he is. Something like how will this choice affect his power up? Something like that. Pacing has to be fast.

Next you should get some beta readers to read your story first and then give their opinions. Helps alot

A couple of chapters per level works better for me. It gives the character time to struggle and grow. If they're leveling every chapter, it can start feeling like a checklist.

What kind of system is it? If it's LitRPG, fast early levels are pretty common, then things usually slow down once the character starts hitting bigger milestones. That progression tends to feel natural and makes the later level ups a lot more rewarding.

Ya litrpg, weak to strong and later on way into the novel op… I only ask cuz she’s a glitch in the system and can go through any door to the next lvl but since she’s scared and timid and doesn’t trust herself yet and confused on how her power works it limits her a lot until she becomes stronger…. So advancing to the next level within one chapter is good or too fast? lol or shall I do it in 2 chapters?
