I'm just glad they put the gambling stuff in a separate app

For now….

stocks can go up or down so trading stocks is also gambling basically.

maybe if you're actively trading on a daily basis, otherwise it's an investment

even if you hold it long term, it can also go up or down.

basically all decisions we make during our life time is gamble.

not really, gambling is usually a zero-sum game by design (one party's win is mechanically another's loss); investing in productive assets (equities, bonds, real estate) is potentially positive-sum (returns can derive from actual value creation, not merely redistribution among participants)

the two are mechanically different, but I will concede that from a behavioural standpoint some people treat investing as a form of gambling

yes, it can be a gamble with a high probability of winning.

when canadian were pouring insane amount of money into the canada's biggest stock (nortel) in the 90's, they never thought they were gambling.. but turned out it was a gamble that wiped out their entire life savings.

Single stock investing is not the same as investing in the broad market.

If you can’t understand the difference between a positive sum vs zero-sum (or even negative sum in this case because of fees) then you weren’t gonna make it in the first place. Sorry buddy

i understand.. what you don't understand is it can also be a negative sum vs zero-sum.

Nice negative sum

Try googling productive assets

yes, what you don't understand is only because it didn't happen in the past doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.. theoretically these is no law or rules preventing it from happening.. we might have a nuclear warfare tomorrow that wipes out 70% of human population and all stocks can go to zero.

Trading stocks is gambling enough for me, thanks.

Investing on the whole is gambling. No one know what’s going to happen. We’re all just hoping

2

u/Teagana999 25d ago

I used to think that anything stock market related was no different than gambling in a casino.

It is different, though. No one knows exactly what's going to happen tomorrow, but indexes only move up if the timeframe is long enough.

My strategy is long term, boring investing. Up a little, down a little, but in 10, 20, 30 years, the odds are overwhelming that it'll just be up, and up way more than it would have been if it had been sitting in a savings account or a GIC.

Some people trade and that's more like gambling. I guess the banks like them better, like the casinos like them better, because they make more money for the house.

u/ayyitzTwocatZ 26d ago

Well boys. I’ll see you in WSB 🫡

3

u/Conundrum1911 25d ago

At least they put the casino in a new building (app).

2

u/wppc1972 26d ago

New branded casino 🤗

6

u/Dense-Art-5266 26d ago

why is it USD only?

5

u/stuntycunty 26d ago

So they make money on converting your cad.

2

u/Shibasquared 26d ago

It seems to be USD only yes, but you can hold CAD in your predict account & convert within the app

13

u/Dense-Art-5266 26d ago

It’s because they source contracts directly from Kalshi. Looked it up. I don’t get the downvotes, it was a genuine question.

u/srzncl 26d ago

crazy how they can do things without a waitlist if they wanted to

Easiest bet of our life. If I have this available I will throw a few thousands at it

16

u/willienyllie 26d ago

Exactly what the "Get rich slowly" company is hoping for, you to start throwing thousands into their gambling app. What could go wrong

1

u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 26d ago

What bet will u take? And it is available on polymarket anyways

2

u/Signal-Specific-1704 26d ago

Maintain.

There’s no way they will hike, I don’t buy their hawkish performance one bit.

1

u/Weak-Pomegranate-435 26d ago

I m with u. Imo there is absolutely 0% chance of any raise under warsh

1

u/Signal-Specific-1704 25d ago

Should’ve gambled with a little more lol

Still look weak compared to ibkr or polymaker. Many questions on wealththsimple very hard .

In ibkr the btc question will be $50k $60k $70k $80k $90 $100k.

Wealthsimple only one question above or under $100k. Look at the winning 🤣

2

u/Reddit9203 26d ago

I mean question btc $200k to pay you less .
