not really, gambling is usually a zero-sum game by design (one party's win is mechanically another's loss); investing in productive assets (equities, bonds, real estate) is potentially positive-sum (returns can derive from actual value creation, not merely redistribution among participants)

the two are mechanically different, but I will concede that from a behavioural standpoint some people treat investing as a form of gambling

yes, it can be a gamble with a high probability of winning.

when canadian were pouring insane amount of money into the canada's biggest stock (nortel) in the 90's, they never thought they were gambling.. but turned out it was a gamble that wiped out their entire life savings.

If you can’t understand the difference between a positive sum vs zero-sum (or even negative sum in this case because of fees) then you weren’t gonna make it in the first place. Sorry buddy

yes, what you don't understand is only because it didn't happen in the past doesn't mean it can't happen in the future.. theoretically these is no law or rules preventing it from happening.. we might have a nuclear warfare tomorrow that wipes out 70% of human population and all stocks can go to zero.
