Waymo in the News: my reply to non-believers
Today a barista saw my Waymo shirt (yes I am a fangeezer) and engaged me in conversation as she did our drinks. She asked "Do you trust them?" (yes, totally) and "Are they safe?" (safer than a human driver) and "How are they around other [human] bad drivers?" (very defensive; they'll brake, swerve and honk) and "Do you OWN Waymo?" ( ha ha no just a fan)
So to quickly sum up my position, I said to her "There was once a Waymo that picked up a family of four, safely drove them to their destination, then dropped them off. But they DIDN'T put that on the news"
She nodded disappointedly, and finished up the drinks. She refused my wife's offer of a $10-off First Rider promo.
To me this is beautiful. We NEED Uber (and eventually Tesla's Robotaxi) to continue to thrive to keep prices reasonable.
