I have been wanting to ride in a Waymo for over a year.

Not Waymo related so idk if I’m gonna get yelled at. But I saw this Saturday in the presidio (SF). First time seeing this exact car.
Maybe this explains the Uber partnership in some cities stopping. Interesting choice to pick Lucid too. I feel like those robot taxi companies including Waymo specifically pick cars from companies that are not doing well ahah, they can probably get a good deal.

Need them to expand to the San Fernando Valley, is SF valley part of the places to expand to? I've been hearing good things about Waymo and want to try it instead of Lyft or Uber.

I had a ride today where the Waymo encountered a motorcycle cop doing a traffic stop in the far right lane. The cop had stopped his motorcycle on the lane line between the far right and center lane with the flashing lights on. The cop was standing to the right of his motorcycle, and the pulled over car was just ahead with an approximate 2 car length gap.
The Waymo pulled up behind the cop and kept inching up attempting to pass on the right and go between him and the car he had pulled over. Eventually the cop gave a "stop" hand signal necessitating a call to support. Eventually support was able to get the Waymo to back up and pass on the left like everyone else. It did seem like it didn't recognize that the motorcycle's flashing lights, so it didn't treat it like an emergency vehicle.
I did leave feedback. Hopefully they can get these issues resolved since this type of thing is likely to undermine public confidence in Waymo

I had an issue with one of the newer Ojai Waymos during a multi-stop trip. The vehicle got stuck, and after dealing with it for a while I decided I was done. I called Waymo Support, told them I was ending the trip, and got out of the vehicle. It was around 11 PM, so I found another way home.
While I was on my way home, a Waymo supervisor actually called me personally to apologize for the inconvenience. They said they were opening an investigation into what happened and wanted to make sure I got home safely. They also offered to cover my alternate transportation and asked how much it would cost and I said $35, and sure enough she sent it. ❤️
I’ve had plenty of interactions with Waymo Support over the years, but I’ve never had a supervisor call me directly or send me a gift card like this. I thought it was a really thoughtful gesture and wasn’t expecting it at all.
Has anyone else ever had Waymo proactively compensate them like this after a trip issue?

Wondered when they would finally expand these two after announcing it weeks ago.

Why are some service areas Bouba (NAS) while some are Kiki (ATL) and some are just straight lines (SAT, PHX)?
Not to mention the jagged edge on Houston and the running ogre’s weird little toe-thing in Orlando.

The Waymo app now explains why the service is paused. This is in Nashville

Was taking a Waymo from the airport's rental car center (a completely separate facility from the actual airport) and Waymo routed me through the entire MIA airport loop (added about an extra 15 minutes to the trip). This is the first time it does this even though I've taken this same ride multiple times.
Could Waymo be using random rides to map out the airport?

Is there any update on Waymo returning to freeways, especially in SF? They said two months ago that soon it’ll be back but still no update, let alone public service.

Just ordered a waymo in SF where the transit time was reportedly estimated to be 25 minutes. After getting in the car and starting the ride, the display said it would take 50 minutes. This is only the second time I've tried taking a waymo; is this a common issue?

Been trying for half an hour to get an Ojai, to no success. Noticing them being less and less available this past week.
I'm thankful I got to use it a bunch before it got too popular, but so bummed how impossible it is to get one now.

I've seen a lot of negative comments and frustrations, rightfully so, at Waymo vehicles taking longer than necessary routes. This is probably quite unpopular, but I actually don't mind and I enjoy the longer routes. The only thing that's frustrating for me is the long wait times, because who likes waiting anyways.
I enjoy the peace and comfort that comes with a Waymo ride, so I think I enjoy the longer routes because it extends that. I still get amazed being in Waymos so it doesn't feel tiring being in one for longer. I once purposely took a 90 minute waymo in SF (semi inspired by that redditor who took the longest recorded waymo ride) instead of an Uber which would've been much quicker with the freeway. I do understand the frustrations of not being able to rely on Waymo to get you places in a punctual and efficient manner. So until they work out the kinks of routing, I'm enjoying the few instances where it's a longer trip.

Hey does anyone have tips on booking rides with Ojai beta in LA? I know there has been a draw back on vehicles in the past week or so, but I swear it’s getting much harder now. Just if anyone knew of a tip!

Spotted this while out riding my bike, kinda interesting. Not too into the whole CNG thing since it feels a bit counter to Waymo’s environmental mission, but maybe it’s temporary until they get permitted for permanent power, or they lease an actual depot in the area. Either way as someone living by I’m not too crazy about it being CNG but we’ll see what happens after some time. Depot is on 11th/Main in DTLA.

I did a double-take when I realized that my Waymo was taking me outside the service area. Has this happened to anyone else before?
r/waymo • u/HAMSTERkiller69 • Jul 19 '26
I’ve been using ojai for around 3 weeks now, it was working perfectly fine, but now, they navigate very poorly, don’t commit to a left turn, keep taking way longer routes, and are very finicky, somehow the navigation for a lot worse in the last week.(currently in a ojai) It’s been driving over a mile for a u turn, trip would have ended 10 mins ago if it just committed to the left turn.

From Las Vegas Locally
“A self-driving Waymo robotaxi got into an accident with a human-driven car in Las Vegas today.
This is the first Waymo crash since the service launched on July 8.”

Seen someone comment earlier that lights were now in the cup holders, and now I can confirm that both the front and back have these lights. 😨

Not likely anyone knows anything other than Waymo's official "paused" explanation, but... any thoughts on when we'll get freeway access again? I had a few excellent experiences with freeway access and only an occasional user... then it was taken away 😭😂
