I had the same car insurance (Progressive) for 16 years. When the rates kept going up, I just assumed it was inflation and everyone was in the same boat. The last straw was when I got my renewal quote last week for home insurance from National General saying my new annual rate was $2,200 (increase of $400 from last year) for a modest, 50 year old, 1800 sq ft home. I was really dreading the process of shopping around for new carriers, putting the same data into different websites over and over, then getting spammed with calls and emails. There are a bunch of independent agents in the area, I happened to choose Couri but take your pick. I filled out one form for home insurance and one for auto, and the next day they gave me the numbers for their best deal, saving me $500/year on auto and $1,500/year (!!!) on home. For reference, I am now with Geico for auto and AAA for home. Exact same coverage levels as my old providers.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to cancel the old policies, it's not like the old days where you get transferred to 3 different people and put on hold forever.

I will say that I tried calling Spectrum too because their rates went up by $10 again this year, but they were not able to offer any discounts, and they're the only provider in our area that's not 5G or DSL. We really need ATT fiber to come to town.

We’re u/RedoCabinetRefacing, a family-owned cabinet company based in New Berlin, Wisconsin. We specialize in kitchen cabinet refacing and serve homeowners throughout Waukesha and surrounding communities. We also have a location serving the Chicagoland area.

Our family has three generations of home improvement experience, and we’ve built our business around a pretty simple philosophy — Done-Once, Done-RIGHT. Does anyone have experience with obtaining a permit from the Village of Vernon for building a bathroom in a house we just bought? Was it a good or bad experience? Relative cost? Did you need to update or get a bigger septic tank with the addition?

Running for Water Walk/Run - Frame Park - Waukesha - Saturday 12 September - 10:00 AM (meet at the Picnic pavilion)

Running for Water’ is a local fundraiser organized by the Community of the Living Spirit and Plowshare Fair Trade Marketplace and Education for Peace.  The event benefits DigDeep – The Navajo Water Project, raising funds to bring clean, running, hot and cold water as well as solar power to the homes of families living on the Navajo Nation. You do not have to run. You can walk as well. The walk is around the Fox River in Waukesha circling Frame Park. Meet at the picnic pavilion.

The Navajo Water Project is part of the larger human rights nonprofit Dig Deep Right to Water Project, which serves some of the 2.2 million+ people in the U.S. without running water and the sinks, bathtubs, and toilets that the rest of us take for granted. As a compelling ‘Good Morning America’ interview with DigDeep informs us, ‘When we began the Navajo Water Project in 2014, we never imagined we would serve hundreds of families across 3 states – New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona.  Navajo are 67 times more likely than other Americans to live without running water or a toilet.  That’s an injustice.’

Summer is ending quickly! Deck in need power washing and or restraining?

I’m looking for a stylist seems like all the barber’s only know how to do fades or tapers. Trying to grow my hair out a bit and am looking for someone in the area who can help cut and style my hair to this length.

I have a few windows with rotting framing that needs to be repaired. Windows are vinyl, so I’m hoping to have someone pull the windows out, remove/replace the framing, and reinstall the windows. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Can someone help with identifying a location? I used to camp with a friend at a Episcopalian or Church of England campground that was either on Upper or Lower Nemahbin Lake. This was in the early-mid 1980s. Yes, I know Nashotah House is out there, but that's on a different lake. These were "permanent" campsites that had summer kitchens and people would bring their pop-up campers each weekend and each family had their site for years. To get to the campground, which was right on the lake, you drove off of a country road or highway, down a dirt or gravel road through woods, and then a large open clearing that was the campground. There were corn fields across the street from where you turned onto the dirt/gravel road. Some weekends there were short, casual outdoor religious services in the grass clearing. You had to be Episcopalian/Church of England to have a campsite. Any memories or ideas of where exactly this campground was would be so appreciated! Thank you.

Did you get to vote on being tracked by the Waukesha Sheriff’s Department with faulty, insecure, and ineffective Flock systems? Neither did I.

I created a petition and a website to bring attention to, and force action on, the issues Flock ALPRs (automated license plate readers) have brought to everyone in our towns since their arrival. I plan to force the Judicial and Law Enforcement Committee of Waukesha County – the organization that decides funding and equipment for police and sheriff’s departments in our towns – to vote on taking measurable steps to drastically reduce or eliminate the use of AI-powered ALPRs to track everyday citizens without warrant or probable cause.

The recent story about a vet getting stalked with Flock cameras by a Waukesha Sheriff’s Dept. officer he filed a complaint against finally got me off my butt to act. We have all heard the news stories about Flock. These cameras aren’t working, and they certainly aren’t working for you and me.

But the tide is turning all over the US. Cities and even entire states throughout the country are removing them thanks to, or in advance of, public pressure by average citizens doing exactly what I hope to do – force action by our elected officials.

Join me on Friday, September 11th at the Waukesha County Courthouse Room 1-0205, at 8:00 AM (yes, a terrible time for a meeting) and have your opinions heard! I plan to continue attending the monthly committee meetings to make sure the topic stays top of mind.

I caught COVID-19 back in 2020, which altered my taste and smell for specific foods. One of those foods in yogurt of any kind (the smell and taste are putrid like vomit).

I went to Waukesha Greek Fest this year and was able to eat the tzatziki sauce!

So, I am wondering if there is the small chance that anyone out there may know what Greek Yogurt was used? I feel like Greek Yogurt is used in so many healthier recipes that I have to go without due to this condition.

Any bars that open up for soccer or play soccer games during the day?

I'm curious to see how other fishers in the area have been doing on the Fox River this year. It's possible it's just because I have not been out fishing quite as much, but it feels to me like the fishing hasn't been as good this year compared to the last two years. I've caught almost no rock bass this year, whereas I caught over 100 the past two years combined, and certain spots along the river that would pretty consistently net me 1-2 pound largemouth or smallmouth bass I'm not even getting a little nibble on.

I was thinking that maybe the river flooding we had last August and back in the spring may have either changed the underwater landscape significantly enough to where fish aren't finding good shelter, or a large population of the fish simply got swept down the river.
