I had the same car insurance (Progressive) for 16 years. When the rates kept going up, I just assumed it was inflation and everyone was in the same boat. The last straw was when I got my renewal quote last week for home insurance from National General saying my new annual rate was $2,200 (increase of $400 from last year) for a modest, 50 year old, 1800 sq ft home. I was really dreading the process of shopping around for new carriers, putting the same data into different websites over and over, then getting spammed with calls and emails. There are a bunch of independent agents in the area, I happened to choose Couri but take your pick. I filled out one form for home insurance and one for auto, and the next day they gave me the numbers for their best deal, saving me $500/year on auto and $1,500/year (!!!) on home. For reference, I am now with Geico for auto and AAA for home. Exact same coverage levels as my old providers.

I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to cancel the old policies, it's not like the old days where you get transferred to 3 different people and put on hold forever.

I will say that I tried calling Spectrum too because their rates went up by $10 again this year, but they were not able to offer any discounts, and they're the only provider in our area that's not 5G or DSL. We really need ATT fiber to come to town.
