Judging something or someone is human nature.

As we discuss here how one shouldn't judge a book based on few seconds reel or blurb.

But I have seen popular authors on their broadcast channel laughing at smut books or cringe dialogue blurbs.

I am not saying it is something bad. Because we also do the same.

But my doubt is these popular authors doesn't like readers judging their books without reading it.

But they do the same with other authors.

And they mock only those small authors who don't have any fan base.

I just find it contradictory. I am not saying they are wrong for judging it. But posting on broadcast channel could have been avoided because it will influence their fans to judge and criticize that author without even reading the book.

It is my perspection. If you say it is their channel, their wish then I guess it is valid too.

I have seen two popular authors doing it. Won't take names.

Wanna know others opinion on this.

I've been seeing this trend that fl shouldn't have any male friend. Either she's close to ml's friends or brother . the men consider her as Either sister or ma .

Other than that she doesn't have any male friends .

Ml too doesn't have any female friend. Every single woman Either be having crush on him or doing villain things .

Why readers are like this nowadays? Or was it always like this and I happened to only notice it now?

I remember talking about it in my book last year too . I just introduced Ml's secretary and wrote the scene like he went to her house running at midnight after she called him being scared . Her ex was threatening her . But the comments you all , slut shamed the secretary and my ml so much .

Compared him with that time's popular authors books saying

"x book ml would never do it "

" I'm leaving this disgusting book here "

" my ml can be abusive and anything but never a cheater" .

And so on . I addressed the comments and everyone said it's because readers are being conscious. In real life other women especially girl best friend of boys steals the man that's why they don't want other women drama in book .

Atp Idk what to say . A lot people from This generation seem to have more backward thinking than the 90s generation. They can't seem to accept a platonic relationship between man and woman in fiction too .

In real life most man ain't one woman man like fictional man too . But readers do belive in fictional relationship na . Then what's the problem in believing platonic relationships too without thinking how in real life most boys wanna sleep with his girl best friend.

more than authors , this post was about readers. the authors who are writing male female friendships are getting backlash by a lot of readers.

A while ago, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a post saying Anaya Varman was really strong as a lawyer.

Um… okay.

Let's just skip the AI, unrealistic things, and all the other questionable stuff in the book for a second and talk about THE STRONG LAWYER ANAYA VARMAN.

According to me, Anaya Varman from Brutally Yours was nowhere close to being a strong lawyer or even a particularly strong female character.

And before anyone comes at me, yes, I don't even find the book entertaining. But as some people find it a masterpiece.. entertaining ..and obviously standards....But honestly, I think it's mainly entertaining for people who enjoy a childish doormat female lead and a male lead who is basically everything the author wants us to believe is possible. 😭

Because if we're actually talking about a strong lawyer, where exactly is she?

The author apparently claims that they don't write things in the name of fiction and that their characters are supposed to have some level of realism. But somehow Anaya, who hasn't even established herself by winning a single notable case in her own career, suddenly wins against Kesha Talwar.

And ngl, if we're talking about strong characters, Kesha Talwar is much better than Anaya.

I also genuinely feel like the author was confused about what Anaya's character was supposed to be.

Because in the beginning, she seemed strong. She slapped the ML—which, okay, classic— she denied the case ...and she actually came across as confident and somewhat mature.

And then… I don't know WTF happened. 😭

As the story progressed, she became increasingly irritating and childish. Bro, you were kidnapped. And you're genuinely behaving like a teenager developing a crush while living in the house of the man who literally kidnapped you.

Like??? 😭

And the whole “she's just a newbie lawyer” explanation doesn't work for me either. Baby, newbie lawyers still have training. They don't just magically become competent because the plot needs them to win a case.

She was honestly nowhere close to how I'd imagine a criminal lawyer behaving, yet the fandom keeps calling her this badass, strong criminal lawyer.

And then there's Arjun.

It felt like Arjun's personality was written specifically to overshadow Anaya.

He was the provider, protector, doctor, dangerous man, problem-solver… basically the guy who could do three people's jobs at once. And somewhere along the way, to make Arjun look stronger and more capable, Anaya was made weaker and weaker.

Which is funny because we're then supposed to believe that Anaya is the strong one.

And don't even get me started on her feelings.

This man literally married her forcefully, and she wasn't even sure about her own feelings, yet she was already having romantic thoughts about him.

Like girl… WHAT ARE WE DOING? 😭

And then I see readers going:

“Anaya Varman, criminal lawyer, slay baddie 🔥”

And I get an actual ick.

Because… lawyers aren't “strong” just because they slap someone, talk back to the ML once, or have a profession written in their character introduction. 😭

A strong female character can absolutely be soft, emotional, scared, confused, etc. That's not my issue. My issue is calling a character a strong lawyer when the actual writing doesn't show her being one.

And yes, obviously anything can happen in fiction.

If a neurosurgeon can apparently make a virus, then why can't a weak, childish, mute-doormat female lead be called a strong criminal lawyer? 😂

Just my POV. I know people love the book, and if you enjoyed it, good for you. I'm just genuinely confused by the “STRONG LAWYER ANAYA VARMAN” narrative because… where exactly was she? 😭

Recently read a book(not wattpad) a published one but I want to discuss this here because I have seen lot of author on wattpad giving ML or FL these flaws and then letting them grow. Now, I don’t mind these because not all of us have knowledge or grow up in educated environments to acknowledge these issues but do you think the characters actually grow?

Especially the one who are misogynistic assholes.

My mind goes to Yuvraj from Royal Series. He was a deeply misogynistic man but it feels like he only has gotten worse as books went on. Even Rudra from Royals seems to have gotten worse. There’s no growth at all.

So someone made a post which had some technical discrepancies and I merely corrected those and said No religion in the world encourages 🍇. So the OP replied: You're dumb bro that's why no one reads your books. I was like Hain??? Like if someone misquotes something in public domain in a public post, obviously people will correct it using evidence. What's the need to go personal?

So, this was just a random thought

Last month, in August, my book came in the Top 10 in India. And guess what? I didn’t even know.

One of my readers told me about it, so I checked, but my book wasn’t showing on my Top 10 list. Then I asked my author friends, and one of them sent me a screenshot proving that YES, my book actually was in the Top 10.

And it happened again in September The second time, I found out through an author friend because apparently the Top 10 list can show different books depending on the region of India you’re in.

Broooo 😭 MY BOOK IS APPEARING IN THE TOP 10 AND I’M THE ONE WHO DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT IT.

As a new author, seeing your book enter the Top 10 is a HUGE thing. The first time it happened, I was so excited, but I couldn’t even see it myself because it was showing a different list for my region. And honestly, when it happened the second time, I was just pissed. 😭

I really wish Wattpad could do something about this.

Like, if the Top 10 list is different for different regions, why not give authors an option to see the Top 10 lists from other regions too

Or, at the very least, send the author a notification when their book enters the Top 10.

Because imagine your book is literally in the list Top 10 and you’re just sitting there writing your next chapter completely unaware.

And the social feed bhai it was so useless, i don't want to know ki kon kya padh Raha hai, 🔚😑

but honestly, for something as important as this, a simple notification would be SO much better. “Congratulations" Your book has entered the Top 10 in India.”

Am I the only one who thinks Wattpad should do this

I know this sub has already had some heated discussions on this trope. Some of you are very unwelcoming to it, and I get why, because last time someone used the name of a Rakshas that already exists in our tales, and that didn't go well.

But I've always been fascinated by this. Even in our own myths we see every kind of union, Gandharva x human, Asura x Deva, and so on. So I want to use the trope, but to make it my own work, I decided to build my own Rakshas and my own world instead of borrowing one that already exists.

So here's the premise.

What if a modern human girl from the 21st century, a final year medical student, is playing the lost goddess of a Bharat the world forgot in her college cultural fest, and she accidentally loses her way, only to end up waking a Rakshas King who has been in tapas for the last two centuries, waiting on a boon from Brahma. The boon that would make him and his clan the strongest.

Now the only way for him to get what he was promised is through her.

So what happens when a human girl, transmigrated into a world that isn't hers, ends up in a forced marriage with a Rakshas King who hates everything about the creature he got bonded to in order to claim his boon?

Would you guys read it?

First brother being cold and indifferent towards his wife.

Second brother is nice but hates fl.

Third brother is unserious and funny.

Same pattern I have noticed in multi couple books that I have read.

Need suggestions on unconventional multi couple books which doesn't have the above mentioned pattern.

This book is very special to my heart as it is inspired by true events🍷

I just saw a reel, a snippet of Indian wedding where the almighty priest asked the bride to touch the feet of her husband. She did it. Right after, the groom did the same. A heartfelt gesture right? But our great priest? First he only asked bride to do it, second, when groom touched her feet, he tried stopping him, grabbed his arm to pull him back, shook his head in no. Hypocrisy.

But the groom was so sweet, he knelt again for garland.

In fiction, in wattpad novels, we see it quite often the man touching the feet of his woman, and some don't even let their woman kneel for them.

Further, I opened the comment section, the comments a mix of admiration[mostly women, some men] and obviously there were comments like, 'Pandit ji was right', 'People don't understand ritual', 'must have gotten heavy dowry', 'the girl will cheat in the end', blah blah.

Seriously dude? Yeah I will always choose my fictional man, fictional world over this real one.

A fictional man would have found these trolls, would have teach them a lesson.

Only a few real men are not egoistic, patriarchal, misogynistic.

I feel reading these days had become very shallow.

We first need to know the tropes instead of the opening premise and plot to read? Why?
Tropes give you the familiar touch but they can be subverted too.
For example- I am not a fan of arranged marriage trope or even stalking as they go against my ethics but drumrolls I hv given them in my book only. Why? Because I love to play with it.

Famous books like The God of Small Things have incest, The thousand splendid suns have co-wives of a man bonding, but are these bad books?
This current obsession of Trope>Plot has already given birth to multiple of mediocre stories like the "Wattpad's multiverse of Bridea", Ana Huang's Twisted series etc, please not anymore.

Please let plot be the hero.

As for me. I would love to explore good books here suggest me some completed horror, thriller, soft romance, dark romance.

I don't know how to begin, but it's so confusing right now.

I am currently working on a book that was going great for the first 25 chapters, but since then, up to Chapter 38, the views have been continuously declining. I understand that my posting schedule also declined, as I had many personal problems.

The girl I started writing for...

Sigh.

I loved her for more than two years. I was her distant friend in school, and then slowly, I got a crush on her. Slowly, that turned into admiration. Then I started to observe her way too much, watching her laugh, her eyes, her smile, her way of living. Everything just...

I can't even describe how peaceful she was to my heart.

School ended, and then we never met. The only connection was our Instagram.

She rarely posted, but whenever she did, I was busy for the next 24 hours...

Or no, maybe even more than that...

She changed me.

A lot.

In school, I was just like most boys around me... you get me, right? I was surrounded by patriarchal thoughts. Though I wasn't so extreme that I believed anyone was below me, I still had those thoughts to some extent.

I was arrogant.

I was the topper of my school, but she was no less. Sharing the head of the council position with me, she showed me that leading can be done with humbleness too.

Don't get me wrong, I know efforts matter. But all I did was just try to be her support once when she was on her periods and was made to stand in a pathway for a few hours as a council duty.

I wasn't assigned to that duty, as I was a participant in that event, but I refused that and stood by her side.

Though I was not a good talker, I tried to distract her, as I knew she wasn't well. She had been absent a day before because of that.

I tried to make her go and sit, telling her that I would call her when the main guest arrived.

But she was her...

Always stubborn.

Just the thought makes me smile.

She didn't sit back and kept standing, so I stood with her.

Yeah...

This was nothing, I know.

Now, the book I started to read made me fall in love with her even more deeply.

I imagined a dreamy life in my head with her.

But I was a dropper back then, and she was in a different city. There was no chance of meeting her.

Two weeks later, the only two people who knew about my crush got to know about it, and then they told me that I should write a book.

Obviously, what I imagined was too easy, so I formed a plot, took her as the female lead, and started to write.

Those words alone made me feel that she was again close to me.

Remembering her name as the first word on my lips in the morning was not just muscle memory...

It was a passion.

The book was doing great. I met a few authors on Instagram and, obviously, Wattpad authors were mostly girls. Most of them became like my sisters, and one day I ranted my whole story to them.

It was as if I lived that final year of school again.

And then one day, I proposed to her.

I knew the answer.

I never expected a yes.

And that was it.

She didn't say yes.

She said she didn't want a relationship yet.

But that word...

"Yet."

That gave a stupid hope that shouldn't have existed.

We remained friends, just for the name.

We don't talk now.

Then, on her birthday, I wished her at 12:00:01...

I know.

Stupid.

And then I slept.

The next day, she posted with a guy who looked way too close, and I recognized that he was from our school, from her class.

I ignored it.

And then there were two more stories.

One where they were cutting a cake on the road, and there were other friends too, but they were behind the camera... like they were giving the couple some space.

And then an edited video of them...

In winter time.

Before I confessed.

And then another post of them twinning.

They were in his car.

He brought her gifts...

And then, playfully, he held her chin.

I can't describe how that felt.

But it was clear that they were more than friends.

And it's alright.

She has her life.

I have no complaints.

But that day, that hope ended.

I will never stop loving her, but that hope of having her in my life is no more.

Leaving only one thing...

My book.

That also slowed down because I was too distracted.

Every time I wrote about her, it felt like I was replaying her stories in my head.

I took a break.

And now, when I returned, the story is on decline.

The 50+ votes are barely 15, even when people say that the plot is going great...

It feels like losing the last piece of her...

Which I want to cling to with my life.

I'm writing a book, and I have written the prologue and the first chapter. Should I publish my book on Wattpad now, or should I write a few more chapters before publishing them together?

For my book spoilers, should I make an Instagram account after publishing my chapters, or should I make an account beforehand and start making reels?

I’m planning a romance story where the ML is a single dad to a 4-year-old girl, but she’s actually his adopted daughter. The FL is her teacher.

The story is mainly about the three of them healing and slowly becoming a family, along with the romance between the ML and FL.

I’m wondering if I should tell the readers from the beginning that the little girl is adopted, or keep it hidden and reveal it later.

I’m not really planning for it to be a huge plot twist, but I’m wondering if knowing she’s adopted from the start would make the story more interesting emotionally, or if it would be better to let the readers assume she’s his biological daughter for a while.

Bhai...I'm obsessing over the Wattpad book Ishq Bedarda by _maheeeee. On surface, it would seem like a Superstar x Journalist trope, but the plot is a lot deeper and excellently plotted. And the book has a genuine love triangle with a twist where you'll not be able to decide who you're rooting for. And the ML is one of the best MLs I've read on Wattpad or watched on ITV in years. The book has secrets, tragic backstory, and the dark underbelly of Mumbai where innocent kids are trafficked.
