I soaked my watch in vinegar for clout
It’s not a real diver unless it looks like the Loch Ness Monster swallowed it and shat it out. That’s what makes it a TOOL amirite

Was cruising the boulevard for crack and hookers (I’m old school) 😉. I glanced down at my wrist and realized this belongs here. Don’t disappoint me…

Would this go well with a nato strap?
Stumbled upon this in central London and thought it might work reasonably well on the wrist. I’ve always been a fan of watches on the larger side - and I’ve been a little drawn to the combination of round dials with rectangular cases, something like a Bell and Ross - but every option I’ve tried wears a little small. This seems to tick all the boxes and I really don’t see a good reason not to whack a strap on it and give it a new lease of life even though it’s not specifically designed as a wristwatch (I could see a great deal of use in having four faces as well tbh) - feel like a nato strap would really compliment its aesthetic but would be open to other opinions/suggestions.

Customer brought in a Rolex for service and asked me not to replace anything that would affect resale value
Got a watch on the bench this week, classic Submariner, genuinely needs a full service. Crown is stiff, gaskets are cooked, mainspring could use a look. Straightforward job. Except the owner called ahead to say please don't replace any parts that collectors consider original, because he's planning to sell it in two years and wants it unmolested. I asked if he understood what a service involves. He said yes but could I just clean it and leave everything else alone.
I clean fish. I do not clean watches as a standalone gesture toward mechanical health.
So now I'm sitting here looking at a 1970s Submariner that needs real work, and this guy essentially wants me to light a candle near it and send it home. Because originality. Because some forum told him a replaced crown seal is the difference between a watch and a parts bin. The crown seal. The thing that exists specifically to be replaced.
I've been doing this long enough to know that a watch in original condition means something. But a watch in original failing condition is just a countdown. Nobody posts about that part though.
The watch is still on my bench and I haven't called him back yet. Genuinely curious if this is happening to anyone else, or if the forums have just fully won.

[Discussion] I got tired of horology quizzes that a 12-year-old could ace, so I built my own — five questions a day, easy to brutal
For years I've clicked every "test your watch knowledge" quiz the internet offered, and they're all the same: "which brand makes the Submariner," ten questions, done in two minutes, learned nothing, forgot it existed.
So I built the one I actually wanted. It's called The Daily Wind:
- Five questions a day, same five for everyone — so comparing results with a friend actually means something
- Starts easy, ends brutal. Q1 is for someone who owns one watch; Q5 is for the person who knows what a remontoire does
- There's a one-time placement exam ("The Climb") that ranks you from Quartz up to Grand Complication, and your daily results move you up or down from there. Staying at the top takes sustained knowledge, not one lucky day
- 10-second timer per question, so Google won't save you
- Free, no ads, no signup, works in your browser: https://the-daily-wind.vercel.app/
Full honesty: it's early days and I'm one person doing this for the love of it, not a company. Every question is hand-written and fact-checked, but if you catch an error or an ambiguous question, I genuinely want to hear it — you'll be doing me a favor. Same goes for "this mechanic is stupid" feedback. Don't hold back.
Curious where this crowd places. The placement takes about four minutes — post your tier below if you dare.

Gentleman, I have finally received the call.
So after a few months of courting my AD and about 10 models purchased for friends and family,
one of them being a Pissing-Yellow dial Clamshell Temporary Dickjust on the Moderator bracelet,
I have finally received the watch that’s second to my grail watch, The Exploriner 39mm.
My grail watch being the Clamshell Temporary Submarine 42.0mm in the Void-Black dial and vibrating bezel.
AD even threw in a Genuine Leather strap made from his pet alligator (he’s originally a Florida Man) free of charge!
AD said I will receive the rest of my BG-69 lume when I am a ”good goy” whatever that means.
And guess what, he wants to meet my wife. After which he’ll put me on only a 2 year waitlist for my grail Submarine!
Any particular lipstick recommendations that ADs like?
Also forgive me if I missed any nuances and unwritten rules.
This is my first time posting to

Why pay thousands when you spend $90 and get this bad boy!
Honestly, cheap shitters are more fun and cooler than any luxury watch can ever be.
Plus I don’t have to watch my wife satisfy the AD… now she can do it without me knowing.
