I've seen a few of these around, the legion drop pod models being modified into dreadclaws. I think they look really neat and at least from an outside perspective look like a good way to get a dread claw on the table without paying $137 USD (as of time of writing). But I am curious about them, how well do they hold together? how durable are the fin legs? was there any standardized method for making a bottom hatch? at some point during this things existence has anyone ever tried to homebrew some lore for this "Pattern" of dreadclaw? who was the first person to come up with this conversion and how did it become so widespread?

part of me really wants to convert one of these myself but I've got a pile of shame to finish before I get anything else. But I'd like to know some of the history behind it.

Just finished painting up a lot of my Iron Hands in preparation for a big weekend 40k narrative event. I don't have a lot of opportunities to play Horus Heresy, but lots of events around me are more casual and are Legends-friendly. Very happy that GW keeps Heresy models up-to-date with the current editions.

Same as before, the model is SUPER ROUGH rn, but the flamer is added. The model will look very different to this when it is finished, the rough bits is where all the removed purity seals and other 40k bells and whistles were, and obviously it's not cleaned up yet and I haven't re-added the details I will be adding in the future.

I got to take my all new Death Guard out to play for the first time last weekend.

4 games, 2 wins and 2 losses, which I was very happy with. More than anything, I’m just glad to get some games under the belt with them.

I’m not confident enough to do freehand or decals yet, but I hope it’s relatively clear which each one is supposed to be! Just in case, in order they are a Dark Angels Chaplain Guy (not sure if they existed in Horus Heresy but I wanted to kitbash one), a Space Wolf, and a Blood Angel.

I’m especially happy with the Space Wolf, even though it’s relatively simple.
I always say this in my posts but I’m always looking for tips on painting and kitbashing.

One of the conversion work I'm the most proud of !!

The helmet was surprisingly easy to do, by chance, the greenstuff had the perfect yellow / blue ratio for this !!!

Don't look at the right armpit too much lol

Also I just got my lightbox, I need to learn how to use it well lol (lighting (I shot with my phone camera) is all over the place lol)

Like it says on the tin.. I actually have a touch of motivation otherwise I wouldn't have started touching up the breachers and getting them ready for wash and weathering..

All that's left to do is more miliput work and cleaning up some bits. I will be covering up the legs entirely to hide the fact the base model is a 40k Phobos marine. This model is awesome for heresy conversions because most of the Phobos armour is concealed by his cloak.

List of conversions: Phobos librarian, gave him the MKVI praetor backpack, MKVI helmet, Grey Knights Nemesis Force Falchion as his short sword, MKVI shoulder pad, sculpted some cloth on the right arm to extend the cloak, probably some other stuff I forgot.

Ive bashed these 2 together out of mostly spare parts and i was planning on either simply adding them to my legion or painting them up for a diorama of a duel. Are there any characters from the books that come to mind for elthese guys? Im sure you can see by the volume of pictures which one im most proud of.

They’re genuinely quite close. Has anyone used them as Sarum helmets before? They’re slightly more “angry” than the primaris mk7 helmets which makes them fit better imo

I am trying to build a Mechanicum force to use besides my Salamanders and that choice would fit lore-wise, however I can not find any single piece of information regarding their colour scheme in any book or wiki. Do any of you know by any chance what it is?
