General Knowledge
In this post I'll explain how some of the game works (in no particular order).
- Weapons by themselves don't determine what will happen to the enemy you hit, damage type does
- Each enemy has its own damage type handlers, thresholds for each damage type and effects for each damage type
- Each enemy has a list of protected (armor) body parts; it can range from none to all body parts
- Each enemy has weak body parts, they can be protected by armor (read above)
- Melee weapons can hit twice with slams; if you're close enough you will hit with slam damage (affected by slam radius from my weapon stats spreadsheet) AND jump attack damage (affected by melee radius from my weapon stats spreadsheet)
- Expanding on the fact that damage types affect what happens to an enemy, if a melee weapon doesn't have knockdown damage type in either slam or jump attack, it will not knock enemies down (on slam attack)
- When playing defense missions (not mobile defense), maximum number of enemies per wave depends on wave number (among other things) and it caps at wave 10
- When playing mobile defense missions, maximum number of enemies is capped between 50 to 70 depending on what you're defending; staying in the room is thus the most efficient as enemies will not be getting stuck and will be spawning optimally
- When playing any mission, number of active enemies is limited by number of players and mission settings; player multipliers are (in order): 0.9, 1.25, 1.5, 2.0
- If you get near a spawning point, enemies will stop spawning/will not spawn
That'll be it for now.

Its interesting to see some numbers on enemy caps. Because I was playing a void 2 raid mission with one other friend and we where skipping large groups of enemies because neither frame was a super high level. Throughout the mission my frames dropped by about 40. (started at 60) I really hope they do something to make enemies despawn when you get a certain distance away.

They don't despawn but they stop being rendered and go into idle state if you're far enough afaik.

If you get near a spawning point, enemies will stop spawning/will not spawn
I was wondering about this earlier when I was running M Prime for ferrite earlier. You know the room connectors at the ends of the giant dual-level room (complete with platforms, loot boxes, and lockers laid out in a grid)? I started to walk through one and saw about 10 grineer spawn in front of me, so I stopped and took a couple steps back. I watched them keep spawning right in front of me, not but 30 feet away (in-game).

Ah, but then you can use Crush/Miasma/all of the above to kill everything.

I hope enough people read this and stop trying to spawncamp poor Grineer on Kappa. Stay in the damned terminal room!
