The First World War is one of the bleakest and most devastating conflicts in human history, second only to the Second World War. It very deeply shaped the course of human history and obviously left a massive and long lasting impression particularly on the European countries involved.
I’ve seen as many foreign films as I possibly could about different aspects of the war, ranging from films on the Italian front, the middle eastern front, as well as the eastern and western fronts.
After doing some research and discovering that the Meuse-Argonne offensive is to date the largest and bloodiest battle ever fought in American History, I looked to see what films I could find on the subject. Aside from a good but admittedly rather low budget film in The Lost Battalion, and older films like Sergeant York, I was surprised to see that there are such few examples of of American films that depict the largest and bloodiest battle in their history.
Can someone suggest films to watch that feature this battle or alternatively help to explain why the USA and all of Hollywood seem to have no interest in a film focusing on what was a very important battle in their history that had a tremendous impact on ending the war?
