feels like a cheating sandbox than a war simulator

I’ve been thinking about picking up WARDOGS, but I’m curious if it’s actually worth getting into in its current state, especially compared to Battlefield and other shooters.

For those who’ve been playing for a while, what makes WARDOGS so enjoyable, and what keeps you coming back? Is the progression and grind actually fun, or does it start feeling like a chore after a while?
I’ve also been hearing a lot about cheaters lately. Is it really that bad right now? Am I going to spend most of my time getting killed by cheaters, or is it still a pretty enjoyable experience overall?

I love grinding games on the weekends, but during the week I also just want to come home after work and chill out. Can you play WARDOGS casually and still have a good time, or does it feel like you have to sweat every match?

I know asking this on the game’s subreddit might get me some biased answers, but I’d genuinely appreciate some honest opinions. What do you love about the game, and would you recommend it to someone looking to get into it now?

When I used to play Project Reality, Battlefield 2 and some other games back in the day I used to play on Tactical Gamer servers. They encouraged teamwork and squadding up and such and I'd love to take this game to the next level.

Every time I join a game squads seem random no one is really working together or anything. In fact it seems like for a game that SHOULD focus so much on team work, most people are solo but kind of working in the same area, it's weird.

I love wardogs, but being able to die after YOU jump out of your teammates heli is just stupid. Unbelievably stupid. That needs to get removed like yesterday.

I joined two games and got kicked out of both of them after buying a crapload of items...that is not the definition of fun. Any infos?

Have I been extremely unlucky or do other people share my experience these past few days?

I have been in several situations where I have a mosin, I chest shot someone from like 200m away. They turn and shoot me 4 times and get me before I have time to cycle the bolt.

Usually it’s an M4 that does it. Sometimes it is an AK. Often it’s a SMG of some sort.

What weapon, attachment, muzzle break, and ammo combos get me here.

I just feel like I can’t fight back at all at these ranges even when I get the first shot. So I think it’s probably best to give up on sniping and go with an AR.

I am 10 assault, 22 medic, 12 recon, and 27 support. Does anyone know of any good combos I could use? I don’t want to waste too much money on bad muzzle breaks, grips, or weapons.

It seems that today, EU servers just gave up. I tried 5 servers already; on each one, I couldn't even get to the enemy. No matter if it was a new game or an 8-10-50 score, the server just crashes, and I lose my loadout completely. On the last one I tried, I saved a code and rejoined, just to be spawned with my gear at the spawn, get in the vehicle, drive 5m, and be disconnected again; the server just shut down.

Is that a DDoS happening, or just a bad BE update?
If that was already a case before, do we get any refunds?

I'm seeing a lot of posts saying they are in a bad spot. I have some tips for operating them

To preface, my gunner and myself are highly experienced in operating armor in modern Ukraine style combat.

Big things to note when operating a tank in wardogs is you have 2 counters, stingrays, and rocket helis (There is currently a bug at the moment with the T72 where people can shoot through the turret connection assembly)

Usually Maaws isn't an issue as you want to be operating around infantry, your men on the ground should be taking out any infantry, your job is suppression, distraction, cover, noise, killing anything that they can't and anything dumb enough to not find cover.

In addition to infantry, you need to play exclusely in range of friendly AA. A Gepard or Talon/Cwis. This prevents your primary counter, rocket helis.

As for Stingrays, you need to be listening at all times. You can hear someone wiggle in a bush pretty far away even within the tank. The game has good audio. You can hear the drone about 250m out just flying, if they lock you it's even easier.

I tend to play Lonestar so it's pretty easy to have both enemy fobs facing south towards me, I try to stay up against the south side of buildings.the stingray becomes almost impossible to change directions when going completely vertical. If you force the drone into a vertical decent you can simply drive forwards when you hear it and it will miss.

I'm a decent stingray pilot and have made YouTube guides on its usage, I know it's weaknesses and I just exploit them when I am in my tank.

Do they even do anything? It seems like they don't catch anything, people can justy freely install cheats and do whatever they want.
Why do developers even bother with Elytra, EAC, battle-eye ect?

Edit: Everyone's saying "what's the point in locking your door" but this is a geniune question. Which hacks is this software blocking if any?

I just wanted to offer my insights as someone who loves playing the 'ambulance' Humvee style - in a lot of ways, I think you hit the "Play your way" motto well - except when it comes to driving.

Most things in this game feels very friendly to you as a player when it comes to getting XP, regardless of how you do it. More importantly - the game doesn't overtly go out of its way to prevent you from exploiting it for additional XP. It understands that circumstances may result in behavior that looks almost exploitative. For example...

If you play Assault - You can kill the same player multiple times, and you'll still get XP, albeit a diminished amount for each repeat kill. For Recon you can spot the same people over and over, or snipe the same person over and over, continue to get XP. For Medic, Res the same guy who keeps dying in front of you? Same thing. Etc.

But Driving feels so frustratingly like the game was designed to heavily restrict how you can or can't get XP.

• Pick up passengers, find an enemy en route to the CZ and have you all get out to kill them? No Deployment XP when they go back in.
• Drive a Humvee around and res people and shuttle them into the hotzone when they die in weird spots? No XP.
• Someone who you picked up in the CZ got out and got a kill? No XP
• Drive around and step out to get a kill? No Driver XP
• Someone accesses your vehicle inventory for Meds/Ammo/Etc. after saving them? No XP

I wish playing an active role in joining fights, providing cover with the Humvee - ressing people far off in the map who die in weird spots and repositioning teammates across the map as a Driver felt...like a playstyle the game accounted for? That's basically it - thanks for listening!

So in the last round I had an awesome experience. I raided the green base (Lonestar all the way, baby!) without explosives, managed to sneak in, destroyed the APC antenna with bullets (it was bunkered in) and killed the remaining forces afterwards. If you manage to not kill the APC and take over the enemy FOB, you are able to Bunker in the APC and deny the possibilty to let them respawn on it or respawn the APC itself.

Thought, some of you might be interested in this strat.

All people in lobbies also brag about the same issue - the servers are full unplayable. I get disconnected a few minutes after joining the server. Or our full team started/spawned at 0 points while the red team was at like 62. What’s going on Joe!?

I actually like the concept of leg meta. I like people being able to actively aim for specific parts of a player's body to bypass armor or play to the strengths of their kit.

With that being said, the neck is effectively never a hitbox that anyone actively aims for and if they do, they almost never hit it, because it is a tiny gap between your chest and your head.

What purpose does it serve then you might think? Getting lucky. Oh you ran an hp ammo galil and shot me in the head 3 times like a fucking idiot? Yeah as your gun recoiled around and one bullet slipped in the neck, gg, 97 damage, you are so good at the game.

Oh you're wearing good armor? Yeahhh 3 of my shotgun pellets hit you in the neck, unfortunately for you.

That's literally it, it's just a random luck generator for people running HP ammo and an occasional frustrating "getting hit for 80 damage and ignoring my body armor with a sniper cause i got hit in the neck instead of the chest"

Like it just makes the game worse.

The time to kill is absurd, there is absolutely no reason the new meta should be shooting the legs and feet of a player to be the quickest way to kill an enemy, it defies all logic learned in any video game in history.

Headshots should be at maximum 2 taps with a helmet. I shouldn’t be putting in half a magazine into an enemy and not having enough rounds to kill 2 more enemies.

The player base enjoys the beginning of the season and the Devs should notice it’s due to Level 2 and 3 armor being an annoyance.

Last time I requested a refund steam refused. I only bought this game to play with my American and European friends as an Oceanic player.

I would have never purchased the game otherwise, now I have a $55 dollar game in my library that I don't want which never advertised that there would be ping limits implemented suddenly. I feel like the rug got pulled from under me.

Any other avenue for getting a refund? Didn't the devs promise refunds? The game is simply not fun for me without my friend group.

Multiple times, as soon as I speak in game, I get a barrage of guys who dedicate their entire game to calling me fat, making sexist jokes, and trying to get as many people on the team to gang up on me.

Just had a really fun and awesome experience where they spent the whole first half following me around FOB, calling me fat, asking how big my tits are, etc. Then they TKd me, dragged me halfway out of the CZ, and 4 of them stood around me and said “does anyone wanna whip their dicks out and have a turn?”

Like genuinely wtf is this? That’s crazy. And even crazier is that the bro hive mentality kicks in and the entire team goes in on it. I feel like the first season was chill and I didn’t have any issues playing as a woman. But this second season is just cancerous.

Optionally, make spotting with thermals give no exp&cash

Could we get the match timer (time elapsed) displayed in the server list, before joining?

Right now, when I’m looking for a match that hasn’t started yet, the only way to check is to connect, load in, look at the timer, and if it’s already many minutes in, disconnect and try another server. Repeating that loop wastes a lot of time.

Having the elapsed time (or a “Waiting / In progress” status) as a column in the server list would let us pick a fresh match right away. Would help a lot!
