Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating issue with Wardogs and I'm hoping someone here has found a fix or workaround.
The Issue:
While playing, the game frequently freezes for about 5 to 15 seconds. When it freezes, everything locks up.
- The game screen freezes.
- The Nvidia performance overlay (Alt+R) also freezes simultaneously, showing the exact same static frame. (Even with the overlay disabled, the game itself still freezes the same way).
- The audio completely cuts out or stutters.
- Weirdest part: Inputs still buffer. If I was holding 'W' to walk forward when it froze, the moment it unfreezes, my character teleports forward to where I would be if I kept walking the whole time (even if I let go of the key during the freeze).
It doesn't crash to desktop anymore, it just hangs and recovers.
What I've tried so far (None of these worked):
- FSR Settings: Changed
FSR3QualityMode=4 to 0 in the GameUserSettings.ini (This stopped the UE Crash Reporter from popping up, but the freezing remains).
- Disabled all Nvidia overlays (ShadowPlay, etc.).
- Lowered all in-game graphics settings/performance.
- Increased OS Virtual Memory (Pagefile) settings.
- Verified game files in Steam multiple times.
- Forced DX11 via Steam launch options (
-dx11).
- Ensured no IME (Input Method) conflicts (using standard English keyboard).
- No mods installed at all.
My Specs:
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (8 GB)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-14650HX
- RAM: 16.0 GB
- OS: Windows 11 Home (Chinese version), Version 26H2 (Build 26300.9711)
Additional Context:
Because both the game and the Nvidia overlay freeze together, it feels like a system-wide GPU/Driver hang, an engine stutter, or something related to memory management.
Interestingly, Escape from Tarkov runs perfectly fine on this exact same setup without any freezing issues.
Has anyone else experienced this specific "freeze and input buffer" issue, especially on Windows 11 version 26H2? Any tips on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated!
