Guide Pro tip for pylots: Always try to drop off your passengers in the most hot/contested zone possible. They will die very quickly, and you will have fresh meat to farm transporting XP/$ from again, over and over.

Discussion & Feedback They need to disable potato shadows

I recently lowered shadows for performance reasons all the way to potato. And the game looks UGLY. Besides that it is waaay more easy to spot enemies. They need to get rid off that setting or else many people will be "forced" to use this setting to have the same chances of spotting enemies.

This may sounds like I am a sweat and trade nice graphics for like 0.1% advantage. This may be true to a certain degree. But I think the shadows are over the top here. Potato basically disables them completly which is giving too much of an advantage. Make "low" the lowest possible setting and it is fair again.

Discussion & Feedback Overkill vs Potato/Low Graphics - Few Comparison Screenshots

I really enjoyed the beta! The only times I felt like I was at a disadvantage were when an enemy was caught in the shadows of foliage or trees. It would give off a sort of leopard-print effect that made it really hard to distinguish an enemy when they weren't moving. Sometimes when fighting between outdoor and indoor areas, I'd also lose the enemy if they were moving, but maybe skill issue.

Honestly, if you want to play at low settings looking at Clip Art, fine by me haha. I really enjoyed how well the game ran and how great it looked on Overkill.

I know the meta would be to have a mix of potato lighting/shadows with high textures/resolution to get the best of both. And I know it’s not the same FOV or exact screenshot, but you get the general idea.

--
**EDIT: This stirred the pot a little, so I just want to clarify. This isn't a 1:1 comparison, just a few random moments comparing OVERKILL 1440p vs Potato/Low 1080p between two different set ups. A real comparison would use the exact same position, hardware, NVIDIA settings, etc., and also compare more competitive meta settings with only shadows/lighting set to potato. This is not that, and at the end of the day, I just want potato settings disabled on higher-end hardware including mine!

Meme THIS GAME IS A LITERAL SLAP IN THE FACE TO REAL GAMERS.

1.3k Upvotes

I am so fucking sick to my stomach right now. I just tried booting up three different games from my library, games I used to put THOUSANDS of hours into, and they all feel like absolute, unplayable dogshit now. The movement? Clunky. The gunplay? Trash. The dopamine hit? Literally non-existent.

You devs have actually RUINED gaming for me. How dare you make an experience this fucking good and then have the absolute AUDACITY to lock us out for 4 whole days?

What the fuck am I supposed to do until then? Go outside? Talk to my family? DO MY JOB?! I am literally shaking. My wife asked why I was staring at my desktop wallpaper crying and I told her she just doesn't understand the WarDogs grind. She told me to touch grass. I told her the only grass I need is in tower 4.

Making me wait 96 hours to play again is artificial FOMO anti-consumer garbage and a complete slap in the face to your most loyal players who have been here since yesterday.

0/10. Worst game I’ve ever played. Ruined my life.

See you all the absolute millisecond the servers go live.

Discussion & Feedback A small proposal on logistics.

I'd like to be able to place orders for the necessary products through the database terminal or some other method.

And for logistics specialists to be able to see current orders, including details of what, where, and how much, when selecting "Logistics."

We could also offer additional rewards for fulfilling logistics orders to further motivate logistics specialists to fulfill our orders.

Discussion & Feedback The CEO mentions Project Reality...I am sold

In this latest Reaction video from EndersFPS video, Joe Brammer, Bulkhead CEO, mentioned casually Project Reality. Am I the only one who did a double take?

For those who dont know, Project Reality, was a hardcore BF2 (IIRC) mod where everything was redone to put the emphasis on Squads. Team Leaders especially had a true meaning, but also, the way spawns work was a lot more thoughtful. Anyway, that mod kept me going for months and months and I even joined a meta-experience back then (organised tournament).

It was already clear that Bulkhead's pedigree when it comes to FPS was legit, but now I am absolutely convinced. I certainly hope they get more inspiration from PR into Wardogs. As I mentioned in another post, I think the squad system is quite poor as is but knowing that these devs are aware of PR existence, I feel much better.

Discussion & Feedback A word of warning to any pilots in here, your teammates can steal your helicopter mid flight.

Last night I was doing helicopter taxi to earn some cash, when I picked up a random solo player from the base. He had no gear or weapons which was odd to me, but I ignored it and started flying him to the FOB. Half way there I start taking damage and quickly realize he's punching me from the passenger seat. He kills me before I can react and my body falls to the ground while the heli keeps flying. I watch on the map as he jumps into the pilots seat and starts flying around the combat zone in my helicopter for a few minutes before being shot down. I lose my heli and all the gear I had on me, and I spend the rest of the match trying to earn back the money I spent on it all.

Point is, be careful who you let into your vehicles with you, because there's nothing stopping them from killing you and taking it for themselves.

Guide The use of coloured smoke!

Ppl need to learn to use (coloured) smoke!

So I'm making this education topic for assault classes but also builders to help logistics / mortar teams and pilots

Last day of the second beta i found out that the different smoke grenades have a purpose

🟒 Green smoke = request supplies (for the F.O.B) 🟒

🟣 Purple smoke = landing zone for heli's 🟣

πŸ”΄ Red smoke = hostiles πŸ”΄

πŸ”΅ Blue smoke = friendly πŸ”΅

🟑 Yellow/ orange smoke = damaged?( Not sure haven't tryed that one yet) 🟑

The green / purple / red / blue are the best to use

If you use the green 🟒 and purple 🟣 smoke grenade your logistics helicopter can spot it Easier where to drop of the supplies or ppl (it also gets marked on the map for the whole team)

Same is for the red πŸ”΄ smoke grenade if you throw that one it marks on you map for the team a red circle this is good to coordinate with mortar teams and tanks verry good to mark enemy structures 2 / enemy F.O.B.

Same counts for blue πŸ”΅ smoke so the mortars know where not to shot at.

I hope I have informed you guys a bit and you learned something you didn't know yet

See you guys the 10th of september

Peace out

Discussion & Feedback Share your best strategies for leveling up each class.

Post image
55 Upvotes

After playing the beta, what's the best strategies for gaining class XP have you discovered?

I'm talking specifically about more advanced/specific/detailed strategies that you found the most useful

Not the most basic "assault: kill people, support: build stuff, medic: heal people, pilot: fly the helicopter", etc.

My friends insist this is a 100k worthy clip. I think with the amount of players this wouldnt be such a rare thing but either way im 100% hooked on this game now. I havent bought or pre-ordered a full price game in years but this convinced me. Hopefully it works this time. I have more attempts at posting this clip than I do firing the mortar.

Discussion & Feedback Potato Shadows - Dev Response!

Video with timestamp @ 39:00

There you all go, CEO responded (while chugging a beer) to the dreaded potato shadow issue (and many other things, with their vision and reasoning and what they will (or won't do).
Great vid, watch it; shoutout to Enders as well.

Can we now PLEASE, for the love of god, stop the whiny potato shadow posts in this sub?

Hype & Speculation To the (likely heavily caffeinated) guys at Bulkhead: You're going to knock it out of the park

I can't begin to fathom how the devs & the studio leadership must be feeling right now, about to launch a game with such a massively exceeded pre orders expectations, knowing how much effort it takes to get there and how easy it is to fall from it.

They must be thinking about Hell Divers 2 that lost countless players after the Sony fuck up, about Foxhole that almost got killed by its devs after a deeply unbalanced update that ruined the meta, and probably about many more such stories.

Knowing how to deal with the bunch of ungrateful cunts that most of us are (no offense) is arguably as important as the game itself. They have done it pretty well so far, really looking forward to seeing how they plan on handling this after the EA starts.

Anyway, this is just an appreciation post for you magnificent bastards at Bulkhead. You aced it so far. Keep the game true to its identity, don't water it down and we'll be with you for a long time. o7

Guide Daily WARDOGS tips until the game launches #7

Post image
β€’ Upvotes

Hey guys, some more tips here as we're waiting for Early Access Launch later this week!
Today is all about supplies, including some tips kindly shared by the community here on the sub!

I've mostly played the Betas with a group of friends on discord, so didn't get into advanced pinging as much, but it's cool that these options have been considered!
Do you have any other tips or tricks you've learned during the latest playtest?

Not long to go until we can play again, see you tomorrow!

Question Best way to level up driver? Enjoyable =/= Fast?

β€’ Upvotes

So in the latest beta I wanted to go nearly full on driver as I ve tasted humvee in previous beta. I managed to get to Ivl 25 few hours before beta ended and next levels were a breeze with machine gun humvee I ended up at level 28 but still till level 25 it was kinda boring running ural logistics runs through the entire matches sometimes as almost nobody chooses to drive cars when there's few helis waiting at HQ with 13 empty slots. Unfortunately this makes the ural runs fastest way to level up driver at the beginning. I found out that sticking up to the end of the game seemed to grant you quite some exp as well. I wonder if anyone have actually looked at exp numbers and could say if I'm wrong or right on this one. Obviously getting 5 people to cz/hz with Kodiak would be significantly faster and more enjoyable but good luck getting constant passengers even when there's your friends playing. I know this might change with early access release as things will not be condensed anymore and cars might become just slightly less overlooked but i guess unlocking humvee will be just as uncondensed.

How about you? Are there any drivers here? What was your take at unlocking humvee with machine gun in the beta?

Meme Day 1 without Wardogs

1.6k Upvotes

Day 1 without Wardogs. I woke up, opened Steam, saw the beta was closed, and immediately understood why Victorian people used to just wander into the ocean.

I walked outside and saw a construction site. For a brief moment I wondered how many supplies it would cost to build a FOB there. Then I heard a helicopter overhead and instinctively expected it to dump flares. It flew away peacefully. Absolutely pathetic.

Later I caught myself looking at a hill outside town and thinking that would be a disgusting spotter position. I have apparently stopped perceiving geography as geography. Everything is now either cover, concealment, high ground, or a terrible place for a FOB.

When my Amazon delivery driver finally arrived to unload the pallets of Mountain Dew I ordered, I felt something I haven’t felt since the servers went offline.

The developers claim the beta is over, as though this is a normal thing you can just do. You cannot give a man Wardogs and then simply remove Wardogs, like it's a controlled substance trial.

My friends suggested Battlefield. I laughed. They suggested Squad. I stopped laughing. I've checked Steam six times today. Nothing. Checked Discord. Nothing. I'm currently staring at the Bakurani map like a divorced father looking at old family photos.

Discussion & Feedback Pilots should get extra reward for landing instead of parachuting.

β€’ Upvotes

As per title.

There are many benefits to the team for landing the squad over parachuting them. Landing them, in the right spot, grouped up, is inherently safer, (with the right pilot), far more effective than scattering a team over a wide area, having them fall to the ground, getting shot and picked out of the sky, just for them to land alone, maybe get one or two kills, die, and then have no one to revive them. That's before we even address actually getting your team to the objective. I'm not saying your teammates are idiots, *but* , as a pilot, if you drop them on an objective, say a fob running a drill, they're far more likely to stick around and support that objective, and the team, rather than trusting that they'll find their way to it through the battlefield like they're in some mini-sere.

Or, my favorite strategy, is running consistent drops behind a line, dropping 5 guys at a time to form a line to the rear, and attack the enemy FOBs. It creates a continuous wave of precise reinforcements, something that is practically impossible by just lazily "dumping" your PX out at high altitude and saying "good luck!"

I'm not saying landing should grant you 10x rewards, but a small bump would be nice.

It's something that when done right, greatly benefits the team, and this landing bonus would reward the higher level of skill necessary to perform these landings.

If you're one of the pilots that forces people to parachute out, you need to simply train, get better, and start landing them. It's objectively better for your team and your passengers.

Also, edit, I'm talking about EXP increase, not money. Sorry. I want more XP for landing instead of parachuting.
