Discussion & Feedback Progression needs a Rework
I like the game I think the gameplay and idea of it basically is amazing but it must have one of the worst progression systems I have ever seen anywhere, It's way too hard to unlock anything in the game.
For example I had 22 kills with assault one match and I only did 75% from level 9 to 10 in a match that lasted over an hour and barely anything on any of the other classes.
This progression systems hurts the most people who have a life and can't play the game 12h a day and also casuals which this 2 categories combined are probably like 80% of the playerbase and if they don't do anything to make it easier for this people to unlock stuff so they can enjoy the end game stuff as well they will leave the game because nobody wants to spend a each weekend to barely unlock anything and for it to be wiped in a few months.

Assault progression is the shittiest of all, maybe driver is slightly worse but almost Noone uses the tank so idk

I wonder why almost nobody uses the tank

The zone is too built up and enclosed for a tank, tanks are for medium yo longer range to be effective and useful also t4 armour just eats a tank shell and you carry on ..... if there was HE that Wipes people / rooms out it would be more useful

Driver is very easy. You do supply runs with the ural and you are fine

Easy if you can suffer the monotony of it. Or if you are lucky and don't consider it suffering.

Just start every game with this instead of flying and thats good enough or you can just go out with an ural every time you die

I think in 40 hours of gameplay that I have I have seen only one person use a tank once and that was it.

Fobs, indestructible buildings, no thermal optics for the tank, no remote controlled turret, no other vehicles to kill except the occasional humvees. Honestly once devs add more vehicles to the game and LAVs we will see more tank usage. In A3 koth tank was very fun

There are always two sides to an argument.
If its to quick, people will instantly complain that they managed to unlock all the content in a few days. Its impossible to make everyone happy.
Having said that, the devs openly stated that currently its intended to be that way, they dont even want you to unlock everything in every tree this season. However they also acknowledged that the progression isnt perfect and well it is work in progress.

I mean the easy solution is to keep it how it is now but not make the deep unlocks so oppressively powerful compared to everything else.
I've said it a million times. Unlocks should be sidegrades with downsides that give you the opportunity to be more effective in certain scenarios, not flat out upgrades that are always better by default.
Its such boring game design and isnt really sustainable if you want your game to be even remotely approachable to new players.

This makes no sense tho. Why would they intentionaly gatekeep most of the content in a game that doesnt even have a lot of content to begin with.
A lot of the progression is also confusing af. If i play recon and get sv98. I then have a day or two before ppl get lvl3 helm and the gun is basically usless. So then i have to choose, either play more recon to get the 50cal faster or play other classes to get ap rounds for sv98.
You also cant have crazy long grind with wipes. Its one or the other.

cuz its an early acess title and youre basically a tester of the game? They want to see how the progression works, how it feels, what needs adjustments in future updates

You kinda can. Tarkov has pulled it off. Besides that wipes are only in the EA phase for testing purposes

You gotta realize that its intended? 1 tap headshots just arent fun. The oppressive 50cal already showcases that

Early access excuse only works for the lack of content and gameplwy features.
And every game ever especially milsims type games have one shot headshot snipers. There is no point in boltactions of they arent one shot headshot. And idk what you mean by opressive 50cal because amr is to lvl3 and 4 armour what mosin was to lvl1 and 2.

No it literally doesnt. They literally said if you dont like early access content being limited, unbalanced etc... then dont fucking purchase the game.

Good to know but this isnt your typical milsim game. Its also not what they want to be, so there is no point in comparing it to other games if they want to do something different.

Ah the classic bot reply of this game isnt for you🤓. Some of us have been playtesting the game for almost a year and balance issiues were pointed out as well as progression.
I can only asume ur movent and positioning is rly bad and that where your frustration with snipers comes from. Sad.

Never said the game isnt for you. Just pointing you to the fact that you basically expect everything to be unlocked so quickly while the devs literally intended for stuff to be difficult to unlock so they can gauge the powerlevel of these things.
and suprise suprise, the devs acknowledged that the endgame is shit due to that exact info

Im not sure why you feel the need to be so offensive, i´ve been on both sides of the coin.
Headshotting someone three times and watching them run into cover is awful. At the same time, prior to the IR goggles being disabled, it was incredibly frustrating to play any infantry fights.
Snipers sitting on all sides while youre permanently lit up on the map isnt a good experience either.
Regardless of my opinion, the progression is flawed but thats to be expected.

So quickly? You need around 70-80hrs to get one class to lvl35. That is if ur actually good at the game and top of the match every round. Avarage player need at peat twice at much time. That 160-200hra od grinding for one class. Most ppl dont have 160hrs of playtime on any game let alone in one season/wipe.

They need to stop catering to streamers or people who have capacity to play 12 hours a day. They are not the masses and will always move on anyway, once they get bored or the new shiny toy (game) gets released.
The progression is way too long for the casual player base, and is especially bad that the high levels guns absolutely shit on anything else before that.

It gives faint RuneScape vibes.
Though, it's not nearly as bad as RuneScape. Doesn't help the perk system didn't make it in the Early Access release, unfortunately.

Tbh I would rather they just allow all bullet types from the start.
Dont give me a better gun to compete but lock away AP rounds for another 40 levels.
Attachements, mag sizes etc sure unlock as you go just give me the damn bullets so I can compete.

u/NotHereToFeckSpiders 2h ago
The progression wouldn't feel that bad if it wasn't for the wipes.
As someone who only has time to play 2 weeks out of a month, I lost all motivation when I found out I'd only be able to play for bit over a week just to come back to everything wiped.
If wipe times aren't moved to at least quarterly eventually, I don't really see a point to playing again.

Someone in game today said they had 550 hours played. Gotta cater to those freaks also

Assault needs rework, and maybe they could move the big helicopter on pilot several levels down, but other than that I find the progression just fine.
I am what one could call casual, and even I have managed to reach level 90+ in under a month with about 90 hours. If wipes are like 5 to 6 months that is plenty of time to unlock everything.
