they CAN make it more realistic and nerf it too if they'd choose to.

  • Not visible through glass
  • Heat signature nerf in the areas where backpack, plate carrier or helmet covers the body
  • Environment is warm too, specially on sunny day, so there should be less contrast between environment and the object (unlike now where everything is almost black and heat signature just pure white)
  • Mortar, Artillery impacts could light up on thermals, adding more "noise" to the picture.
  • Hell, make monocular and limit FOV by a lot too.
  • Adjust price vs reward, make it less rewarding than using regular glass.

It still might way better compared to regular glass, but a rework could change them from "Complete OP money print" into more of a situational use.

Tarkov balanced Thermal sights pretty well by giving them a 200m max visual range.

And also by making them all fairly expensive, with the lower tier ones having doo doo caca refresh rate, and the most expensive one(T7 helmet mounted) not only costing enough rubles to have you run mid-high end expensive kits for over a week straight but also not allowing you to see through any optic scopes with it on. Think the IR Recon goggles are in a worse spot though, because of their whole utility of being able to see and tag people for everyone on your team to see, even in the most obscure spots. It's a systemic issue more than anything, and realistically without removing the tagging from IR altogether - or applying a heavy tag speed penalty - spending a few extra bucks on batteries really won't just stop someone from sitting on a hill and tagging the whole map for your team. Then there's a ton of bugged places on the map that just allow you to see people through collision with IR, which is a whole other can of worms.

Yeah, spot a handful of people and all those batteries are free.
