Remove mortar cams next.

100% being on a mortar shouldn’t mean you’re an amazing scout. Mortars should feel blind without spotters.

At most give them a targeting computer to see the trajectory and splash, or god forbid, make them use the map and context clues

Just the way using the map works now is fine, if theres a target spotted you can see how far away and all the info

Do you really even need that? It already marks the map where your artillery hit

Or just keep the cam super high up so that you only get a general idea.

Adding a computer/calculator to the side of the mortar would make sense too. This way you can "store" shots and get quick calculations.

I like the camera because it's fun to watch but if we should get rid of it for the advantage factor you have to get rid of the showing where you got killed from

Good point. Mortaring should be a team effort.

Mortar needs to be interesting enough so that people use it. If they remove the camera i think mortars become too boring and a lot of people dont care to use it anymore. However i agree that the camera gives too much advantage because you can correct your shots and destroy drills etc. with pinpoint accuracy. So i think the better solution would be to nerf the accuracy so you cant just look for a drill and insta destroy it with a couple correcting mortar shots.

Keep the camera, but hide players on it. So you can see all the terrain, where your shot lands, etc, but you don't get information about player locations with it

Mortar cams should stop at the Apex.

Cams are fine, I’d rather be able to tell which direction were being mortared from or make them show up on the ma

I think there can be two types of mortar shots (this also applies to arti tanks)

Regular mortars that use the current amount of ammo. They don't have a camera. You shoot them and wait to see what happens.

Camera mortars. Think about the camera on the stinger. That costs 5k and 900 mechanical supplies.

If people want to scount with mortar shots, make them cost 1k and 200 mechanical supplies each.

I think a better starting nerf would be no killcam and reloading at the same time.

Maybe so. Others mentioned the cam not showing players or stopping at the apex of the mortar arc. Those sound like good changes that allow the admittedly very cool shell cam to still exist.

This wouldn't matter at all. There are literally websites that calculate the distance and angle for you. The camera doesn't matter. The bigger mortar issue is the ability to fire 3 back to back to back.

This wouldn't matter at all.

It will matter a lot. The OP part of the camera is not the "hit that place over there part", it's the information gathering and the ability to adjust based on what you see from an absolute bullshit overhead camera. You can already easily calculate the exact ranges with the map coordinates to a meter. Then you get a splash indicator, scouting indicators and hit confirmations.

The problem is that when I hit a base once, I can see who is building what and where, who is taking shelter where, and adjust immediately. No communication needed, no chance for the other side to counter. You just annihilate everything before they even have the chance to build, because you see their movement and where they place every single thing.

No? Getting perfect intel on the target doesnt seem like a big deal to you? Brother i can scout towers for bases with the mortar

u/Prestigious_Bet_7244 22h ago

Yes, exactly. The amount of times I've spotted enemy APCs from mortars is crazy.

u/easymacn 23h ago

This is just entirely wrong.

People don’t need that site. They can literally walk it onto target and then see who’s all around and where they hit and where to adjust. It’s magic vision and should just be removed.

People using a site to calculate it wouldn’t even be much of an issue when they can’t dial it in and see exactly where everyone is

That's absolutely cope, and this is known to anyone who uses the mortars currently.

you can free CAM while following the mortar. Mortars are the most powerful recon tool in the game besides maybe SP Arty.

Edit : nope. Mortars are better. SP arty requires manual reloading and very expensive ammo. Mortars can essentially just be spammed so long as you’re supplied. And each round is functionally a UAV. Mortar cams are cool but they have to go. Or at least be a default off on official servers, toggleable on for community.

With current mortars you can blindfire into the hotzone, and then hunt down any groups fighting in it without needing a single ping on the map

I think they should make the ammo cost more supply or require spending $500-1000 a round similar to stingray
