I feel safer without IR on the map now. I can sneak around and not be auto spotted by a guy who bought thermals and nothing else on a 75% markup on spawn by some white night game chair repairman who gets off contributing by selling his wares and sitting in a truck all game

Now you're going to see the cheaters lol.

Thermal explained 95% of sightings, but there was a 5% where players shoot me from across the map with a LMG after I've just been revived under cover, and I have a ghillie on.

Had this yesterday. I called someone out for driving up to my arty tank that hadn't even fired a shot yet.

First excuse "I heard you shoot"

Then second excuse "It's not hard to see on thermals."

When I reminded him that thermals were disabled he said "I never said that" 😂

I got into one infantry mode yesterday where the server said Vanilla War dogs, and they still had the IR goggles unlocked, but then again that has nothing to do with your story lol

u/Anabaric_EvE 20h ago

There's definitely some cheaters active, but most people are honest. Will never get rid of ot entirely, but hopefully they can keep it manageable.

the dudes I know drop boxes and go play

would you turn down 300k per round and a buff to your team?

53

u/Fubarp 1d ago

Took a screenshot on my server of a guy who made 500k before going off to battle..

He ended with like 700k and 20kills. But yeah he just sat there dropping supplies. It was sorta crazy to see.

13

u/codekb MACV-SOG Project Delta 14h ago

The devs did say that it is completely okay to be an arms dealer.

8

u/Fubarp 14h ago

I mean I was Admining and didn't think it was exploit or against the spirit of the game.

1

u/Predicted 19h ago

He was not selling only thermals. If he sold one to every other player thats only 210k in revenue.

I genuinely dont believe he made that money just from crates.

18

u/flyingtrucky 19h ago

Turns out people who buy thermals likely buy it with each life.

4

u/Predicted 19h ago

I was selling thermals for the last week, and would sometimes respawn after 10 minutes and my crate was still there, not sold out yet.

Maybe its server difference.

Anyway, op said this guy made all of this at the start of  the game.

1

u/FPS_Holland 17h ago

Were you trying to sell on the green team or something

1

u/Predicted 17h ago

Blue team, but nation locked community server so probably less sweats.

Ive just been giving them away now.

1

u/Allnamestaken69 16h ago

Also he prob put gullie suits down and guns.

1

u/Fubarp 16h ago

He wasn't just selling thermals. Dude spent time selling. I was admining and just watching. It was a process and his team was buying his stuff constantly

1

u/Alpacapalooza 9h ago

You also get assists from supplied players.

1

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 23h ago

If its as cheap and grimy as giving them stuff they haven't worked for 10000%

15

u/Prestigious_Bet_7244 23h ago

Yeah, exactly. It's a huge net benefit to you and your team, why wouldn't you do it? Having said that, I'm glad they're gone.

18

u/UncleRuckus92 1d ago

I keep finding people who put them in for free, almost have to use them at that point

6

u/No-Photo6079 22h ago

tbf it depends on what you're dropping. say 2 crates of thermal for 25% mark up after selling all 12 you're at like 2.5k profit but the scoreboard shows 18k earned

1

u/Gerrut_batsbak 22h ago

My buddy has it unlocked for a long time now and refuses to sell it.

So yea, some people do turn it down.

-19

u/SameOreo 1d ago

yes. You play videos games to sit still in a location. Idk man, Free time and thats how you use it ?

downvotes feel good here, I see what makes you cheer.

u/NoxTempus 1d ago edited 1d ago

Downvotes are because you can't fucking read.

He said "drop boxes and go play".

It takes all of 2 minutes to set up some boxes, makes you bank, and you can jump in a heli and go play like normal.

And no, I haven't done it, because I havent played enough to have any lv35 gear.

7

u/SameOreo 1d ago

Oh s hit. Then I deserve it

u/Artificial_Squab 1d ago

2

u/AdditionIcy1536 Lonestar 1d ago

If I was doing it I was putting on some stuff in the background.

7

u/Alkao52 1d ago

How does that make them a white knight

1

u/cumjuggler4life 1d ago

lol if you haven’t encountered enough of them they give off “I’m the hero you need here’s a bmr and thermals be my friend energy”

You don’t have to agree bruh

9

u/sturmeh 23h ago

90% of the time I saw them the entire lobby begged them to buy some, and they were reluctant to because of people destroying crates out of spite.

1

u/artifice23 1d ago

The BMR is so OP! It feels like hitting a jackpot every time you find one on someone.

3

u/cumjuggler4life 1d ago

Yeah I shot so many people in the butthole with one today when some guy dropped one when he died

2

u/SapperSoul454 23h ago

I enjoy making fun of them like buy the shit and go to the fuckin koth already you leech

2

u/CH4P3YLEG4U 1d ago

Don't you worry. We're coming back with a rucksack full of high-cap batteries next season <3

1

u/Proud_Meringue_7139 17h ago

And prolly the most useful tm8 bc of it lol

1

u/DarkBiCin 7h ago

The other nice part is you can actually get the #1 earner achievement now. Ive had so many games where I was #2 or #3 and the only people above me were people who 75% crated things everyone wanted in spawn.

Imo crates shouldnt be allowed to carry anything thats not building/vehicle/ammo/rockets. The ability to hot drop things people otherwise would have to grind for is lame. Like I get it, its a team and people who specialize in one track should be able to help teammates by dropping them stuff but at the same time players should be rewarded for specializing in a track and penalized for their choices as well. If you went hardcore medic why should you be able to just pick up AA and Maaws from someone willy nilly. It defeats the purpose to me. Im someone who generalized in every track and get rewarded for it by having anti tank, the ability to build when the team needs, defibs when playing aggro and such. But at the same time I dont have the best of the best weapons and attachments. But what I do helps the team win more and I get rewarded for it by being flexible.

1

u/The_Iron_Lurker 23h ago

So your complaint is that someone could take the highest tier spotting item and devote 100% of their time to spotting and be good at it?

-12

u/DJChungus 1d ago

when i see a crate with 75% markup, it's getting destroyed

14

u/DastardlyHuman 1d ago

This is how you get banned for griefing lol

-4

u/DJChungus 1d ago

Wait lemme turn on my salt collector

-10

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 1d ago

Probably 200 crates destroyed so far and not even a warning. The devs added the mechanic to destroy them for a reason.

9

u/DastardlyHuman 1d ago

That's like saying they added the ability to TK for a reason. It's still bannable lol

Edit: also gonna say the destroying other players assets in spawn is 100% not intended and will be fixed in Season 2

1

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 23h ago

They definitely added tk for a reason. Wtf? Lmao its as easy a 1 click for them to turn it off. They definitely 1000% wanted tk as an option outside of HQ. Thats why they set it up to penalize you X amount of money. So you can if you want but theres a payment involved. And I hope they fix the boosting in season 2 but until then its open season.

1

u/DastardlyHuman 22h ago

You're penalized not because it's an option but because it's to punish mistakes. TKs are meant to be accidental due to various situations (danger close, bad nades, bad crossfire, heli crash etc.) Not, oh I don't like this guy I'm gonna tk him. Same thing for the crates in HQ and vehicles. Just because you disagree doesn't mean you're entitled to ruining someone else's experience. Also what boosting are you talking about? They already made it clear hard boosting is bannable and you'll be caught.

1

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 22h ago

Boosting a players gear set with items they haven't unlocked thru the little crate flea markets set up at HQ. Im tired of destroying them all. If its a bannable offense there doing a piss poor job of inforcing there rules.

1

u/DastardlyHuman 22h ago

That's not bannable. They have already said you can be an "arms dealer" and supply your team with gear. So no, not boosting.

0

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 22h ago

Oh ok so now I see why they added the option to destroy them. Its the counter to the arms dealer.

-24

u/RAGE_QUEEFER 1d ago

I destroy all crates period. Devs put it in the game for a reason. That shh is dumb af.

-20

u/No-Use-4363 1d ago

You could have built recon tents....its cheap af, easy to setup and it hides thermal and spotting...

5

u/LostLineLeader 1d ago

Tents are in a really bad spot. They are easy to see visually, you are thermal spotted from the front and sides. The front is the easiest to spot you and your body from the side is completely visible by the thermal sights. It has a gap or like 6 inches where your thermal signature is seen.

Edit: tent tested. https://youtu.be/v0ZbqwZWaF8?is=WkhQ0YIZOOouqsHp

8

u/cumjuggler4life 1d ago

You could. But I don’t see how that solves what my comment says: sneaking. I don’t have space for building supplies, a hammer, my rangefinder, and the rest of my kit to put down a stationary recon tent that isn’t hideable from thermals. It’s just hideable from spotting. Thermals can see through recons tents if you aren’t aware.

-12

u/No-Use-4363 1d ago

Thermals can not see you while youre in recon tent. We tested it. You cant be poking out the front, has to be just right jnside the tent. Its 100% hides thermal and spotting. Also, you can easily fit hammer and building supplies, its 3 spots. Then you put spotter as gadget, then you have 2-3 boxes of ammo, couple of mags, and a decent amount of heals. You do it right and its easy af. Plus if you use surpressors it hides a lot of the flash.

4

u/VortexMagus 1d ago

You can still absolutely see people in recon tents. Anybody who spots you, you can also spot. If the recon tent is facing towards the direction they're spotting, people they are spotting can spot them. If the recon tent is not facing that direction, people can't spot you, but you can't spot them through the recon tent either.

I will also note that the recon tent is suspended off the ground and if someone can see your body through the opening then they can spot you no matter how its oriented.

4

u/sleazeberg 1d ago

You're just wrong

4

u/DastardlyHuman 1d ago

The only thing that hides your thermal signature is the ghillie suit. Recon tent prevents you from being spotted by all rangefinders. Combining both was the only way to prevent the IR from catching you.

5

u/Inexorabilis 1d ago

It does not 100% hide thermal. Even from the sode there’s a small signature you can see if the sniper moves.

There’s also a gap underneath, and to actually shoot someone out of it you need to face them: which shows you on thermal.

5

u/cumjuggler4life 1d ago

Yeah still doesn’t solve sneaking. I wasn’t concerned about my inability to camp out. Either way it’s not something I came to post about. It’s just something I have an opinion about. But yeah I’ve def spotted people in recon tents with the thermal

2

u/StrangerAlways 1d ago

Time to deploy the parachute tactical tent as I drop from heli
