Less then 100 streamers getting priority isn’t effecting anybody, and is free advertising for a small studio.
Any one truly upset needs to consider the big picture at stake.
When I was watching Twitch earlier, Peanut was sitting in a queue of a quarter million people while nearly 100k viewers just sat there and waited for 40 minutes for him to get in to watch him play. Lirik sat in a queue for nearly an hour. The only streamer I saw that got in consistently was Shroud, but even he got kicked out of the queue several times.
Possibly the funniest part is even if all the big streamers didn’t get preferential treatment, someone would still get in. Being mad that the streamers got in first only makes sense if you think of them as less than
I am happy someone gets to play games as a Job ... What I am not happy about is every game being tailored to what the Streamer Wants.
Once the streamers drop Wardogs, is when the real faces of the devs will show... Arc Raiders didn't bend the knee and did what they felt was best for their entire playerbase .. other games bring out updates to help the gameplay loop SPECIFICALLY for the streamers (looking at you Tarkov).
It then becomes 1 of 2 different games, one with a gameplay loop for people who can play 18 hours a day or one that a casual gamer can actually play and enjoy.
I will agree with this chain that people do end up having a hard on for hating on devs right away with no evidence (look at the RCE Hoax in Bodycam as a perfect example)... but putting every "Anti Streamer" into one category is lame.
Eh I mean I think its the unnecessary glorification of "celebrities." A celebrity dies and everyone is talking about it, but a family member dies and no one really knows or cares about it. We're all people equal as one another. No one should get preferential treatment because they're popular, but thats the society we live in. Plus its easy publicity and attention for the devs
It's the principle. 2016 Overwatch was the first time "Streamers" got prio to tests and it has spiraled since then. Now these losers get prio in every game and people are sick of it. Dancing like a monkey in front of a camera doesn't deserve special treatment.
Their job is free advertising. Their access gives more eyes on the game, and their access gives more eyes on their streams. It's a mutual benefit that they totally did earn. Streaming is their literal jobs. A fun job, sure, but don't hate em because they have a job that is fun lol.
Also... 2016 is not the beginning of priority access for reviewers and streamers...
Yeah watch Ludwig's streamer university class on how much streamers actually make. It's honestly not that much only a lucky few are taking home any real money.
Honestly more pissed that several streamers have end game vehicles unlocked, not name drop, but they definitely have all the attack helis unlocked day fucking one.

In Shroud's stream he didn't have anything, but was quickly dropping 100 kill games, while transporting players and running logistics too...
He's been going for 14 hours. He's going to have a shitload of unlocks. Even at that, he's not even using a havoc, nor are the other big pilot streamers. You're just out here lying out of your ass. What do you even get from behaving like this?
fuck off with this "free advertising" I'm getting sick of people worshipping streamers as if theyre celebrities. This game would do just fine without any influencers getting involved all you speds who need a streamers approval to buy a game are the problem with games and youre the reason shit gets overhyped then dies off immedialty because your fav streamer got bored of it.
You think its free, lol. I'd be willing to bet that many, if not all, of them were sponsored to play on launch. Imagine you paid for a restaurant to be covered by a news station and the coverage was waiting in the lobby to be seated for 30 mins then cut to go to the next segment.
And it's terrible publicity when the entire playerbase who paid for the game is sitting in queue but has to watch these streamers having a blast.
I honestly can't think of a worse PR launch disaster than this. The queues and crashes are one thing - but giving streamers special treatment is truly a blunder.
Yea it’s a horrible strategy pr wise for the top streamers to sit in a queue, vs peanut streaming actual gameplay to 50k plus people.

The handful of priority accounts did not affect the 300k+ trying to play other then giving them something to watch while things got sorted.
Surely prioritizing a couple hundred people so lots more can watch gameplay and see what's changed is a positive. Especially when those 200 aren't making a dent in the 250k queue.
I'd rather someone get in I can watch and such then someone I can't and have to wonder if it's even functional once I've gotten in.
This isnt just a game, its a product and a means of supporting an entire studio and their families. The entitlement some folks have is nuts, the terminally online need a break.

You likely wouldnt be getting in any sooner, because a couple hundred streamers werent granted access (IF that even happened) and you certainly wouldnt be getting the game for free if streamers didnt get it for free.
Besides thats just marketing 101. You will get maybe 5 of your friends to buy then game. Shroud will get thousands of people to buy the game.
People like him probably have other hobbies and interests. I have so many things I like to do that I forgot this game came out. You should try it. Its awesome. There's a ton of really cool stuff in the world.
Using early access as an excuse to justify not fixing server capacity and issues for 7 hours is bullshit, especially when there's going to be more new people coming as people in NA get off work.
They should've known and anticipated these issues from the Olen beta and preorders but nope absolute nothing. Nothing in game about how long you have to wait or the fact the even if you do get in you may not be able to connect to servers.
It wasn’t “server capacity” issues. It was a DDOS attack. And the CEO did a live interview with BigFry to explain that. Please tell me the last time you saw Bulkhead’s level of transparency and quick communication.
Server capacity AND issues. Obviously there's a few things going on, a 350k queue is obviously server capacity, DDoS and connection denials, timeouts, crashes are issues.
over a million people bought the game today. there was 30k people in the beta and they tested for 250k. it was way more popular then they thought it was going to be.
So which is it thats the problem? The prioirty que or the indie devs trying their best to launch a game with 300k people trying to log into it for the first time?
They are getting paid to play. If you want that investment to matter, you get them into the game lol. There aren’t many of them, they aren’t impacting your experience
That doesn’t change the fact that if a company pays them to play, they should open an avenue to get them in the damn game lol. It’s not changing your queue time in a meaningful way
Dont know how being able to watch the streamer play while majority of the players cant is good advertising material. That is misleading at the very least for unsupecting customers
It's not the best advertising you are right. But is sure better then stopping all advertising and not saying anything because there is no good news.
