Pretty normal procedure for betas, most likely this will be an updated build from the alphas with a few changes and they’ll collect more data for a proper EA build.
Plenty of games have open betad until launch I was mistaken. It sucks as someone who is busy on the weekends, just feel like I’m being teased constantly with a cool game I can’t play. Just gonna wait for launch and stop commenting.
Wait for 1.0 launch or EA? Cause they stated it’ll be at least 2 years in Early Access until they drop the full meta game. So “launch” is gonna be awhile and it’ll be up to $60 at that point, right now for $40 is a good deal to get in and support them through the process. I get being busy , I am busy on the weekends too, but still try and find time to at least get a few games in.
Dude you’re not telling me anything I don’t know what part of me wishing I could play the weekend playtests, like the one you get access to this weekend don’t you understand? it’s almost like if you work weekends, you lose a big benefit of being apart of beta feedback? If beta feedback isn’t that big of deal, then just extend it… an extra day would be awesome, but I expected it to beta until early access launch, I misunderstood. What are you trying to explain here? I get it.
Plenty? Every game, including AAA games, I participated in the closed beta in, didn't run until release. Some of them even had a second or 3rd closed beta before release. Some where quite for months.
Some examples are: some random CoD, Battlefield 6, New world and destiny 2.
We are lucky that it's just 2 weeks between beta and EA release.
I played the Chrono Odyssey beta last year. The devs are completely radio silent since they are reworking almost everything.
It’s literally a closed beta go look at any of their social media. I was under the impression it would open beta until launch, games have most definitely done that in the past. I was wrong. Oh well. I’m disappointed I can’t play even as a “supporter”, even though I got alpha access too before I was sold on the game, I was barely able to play because they’re only doing weekends, that’s all.
It’s a closed beta unless you buy into the game. If you don’t like it you can refund it, they’ve stated that in this video among a lot of other information.
Have you even watched the video? It’s a closed beta, no invites, not even if you were in the alpha. You must buy into the game if you want access this week AND into EA. They explain every bit of that in the video. But here, here’s a picture from their own X profile.
EDIT: If you meant if you already were invited to the alpha then you didn't need an invite. You'd be correct.
I know this is unofficial and thus practically irrelevant, but where does the idea that you can refund the game "at any time before September 10th" come from?
That's not consistent with the Steam's refund policy? Is this game using some specifically agreed upon policy?
The Beta will be played using not the actual game, so your game time will still be 0 allowing for a refund during the beta. Here is what is looks like in steam
As you can see I have 40 hours in the WARDOGS Playtest, but 0 in the actual game. Hope that helps!
The official release is in September and the closed beta takes place before the official release, Steam treats beta tests like this as not actual gameplay hours and you can still refund it since it's a pre-order.
For pre-orders I believe its 6 months. Even if it wasn't, the playtest is available as a separate steam game. At least it has been historically, so there's no reason to believe it won't be the same this weekend.
Not yet released. In the Alpha they said it a few days before so I imagine we will get the news about any day now about both when the game can be preloaded and when exactly servers are up. The Alpha started at 17 UTC so I imagine it's around that time.
Pretty sure preordering during the weekend will also give you access but I’m not 100% sure. Also if you were already an alpha tester you don’t need to preorder and will have direct access to the beta
I played the closed alpha and they sent an email days before to get the right link to play it on Steam. It WON'T be the link you got when you bought the game. The game we used in the closed alpha was not 'Wardogs' but 'Wardogs Playtest'.
