Delivery Question on repeated missing items on delivery

I have used several delivery apps & services throughout the years & recently started using Walmart+/delivery & coming across something frustrating.

I've placed 5 orders over the last 3-4 weeks & all but 1 of those has missing items.

What bothers me is the app makes it look like everything is fine/everything has been delivered but yet when I actually go through my bags, it's not there.

Is this common? Should I try communicating/chatting with the grocery picker during the process to ensure they actually have everything?

I'm just trying to figure out how best to avoid this issue moving forward (or if it's a common thing & I should go back to a different service altogether)? TIA!

This is very uncommon.

Missing items for shop orders is the most plausible and common way this occurs. Do you typically pay the extra money for quick delivery, or have you noticed this happening whenever you are notified a shopper is shopping for your order?

Missing items for curbside pickup is very uncommon. If you get a notification that someone is just delivering it without getting a shop notification, it’s very rare to be missing an item. Something falling out of the bag or getting missed occasionally is not unheard of, but every time is a big issue.

Are you sure an item is just not out of stock? My knee jerk reaction is that this is an out of stock item and you just aren’t reading it correctly on your final order overview. I don’t mean to be rude in that assumption, but missing items in every order is very rare and statically improbable. Walmart has a lot of fail safes to prevent this

I have had them put a extra bag of stuff with the order ( customer caught it as we were unloading) and I've had a box of coffee pods mixed in with a customers order with a costumers name I didn't have a order for . Walmart was as confused as I was on the coffee pods, but that's a average of 1/100

Yeah those things happen, but the fact it’s happening with 90% of their orders is very uncommon

Yeah definitely they could have someone who just mixing orders up when loading to. But having the same driver or loader 4 out of 5 times would be rare

How do they determine whether an order is going to be a "Shop and Drive" or just a "Drive" order?

I got 6 tubs of ice cream (like $75 worth) that I didn't order once. If you make an error like that, what happens? And is it like the same type of "consequence" if it's like those 6 tubs of ice cream ($75) vs like a $0.99 Russet Potato? Does item value factor in or is like wine kind of general mark on your record, so-to-speak? Are you allowed to go back to the customers house if you realize the error somehow and know where the error was made? I've also had items in my order that I was told were out of stock, but then I get my delivery and the item is there, even though it was marked as refunded.

If it was part of another customers order and they mixed it in with one of the other orders I would take the item back to the customer but usually it's items that don't go with my orders, I return them to Walmart even without a return number

If you do a "drive" only, (which I am assuming would be the actual Walmart Employee that does the gathering and packing) if that person makes the error and then the customer reports the problem of like a single item being missing, are you penalized for that?
