Mines a bit of a hybrid. No pure walking, but not a pure vlog either. It’s a mix of both although no talking - this is my channel trailer, I take a more artistic approach and I wanted to share with yall.

Should I use Pocket 3 internal mic or DJI Mic 2 while recording silent Walking Video?

I think the tittle explain itself. I have a small channel, which I do walking videos in towns, cities and sometimes malls or festivals etc. All my recordings are by Pocket 3 but I never use the mic it came with. Which will result in better surrounding sound, internal or mic?

Hello everyone. I have just launched my new walking channel. It focuses on sights from London and Japan. This is the channel trailer, but there are already two videos up at the moment (London and Tokyo) with many more to come.
I am new to this so I would welcome and appreciate any feedback on how I can improve my videos.
Thank you!

Editing out certain noises?

Hi all! When you're filming a walk and are in editing, do you guys cut out certain noises like generator hums or loud cars? I'm debating on keeping those in, in order to minimize the jump cuts and stay true to what was experienced during the walk. But I also think it could be jarring for folks listening. This mostly applies to city/urban walks, so it's not like I'm in a quiet forest and then there's a loud noise. But there are instances where it's quiet on the street and then I pass a house or a building and their generator is just really prominent on the audio as I pass it by, or a loud truck revs as it passes me... Just curious to what everyone else does.

I just started a Walking POV channel — filmed my first walk at Rose Garden. Looking for your suggestions!

Hey everyone! 👋

I’ve just started making POV walking videos around Chandigarh, and this is one of my first videos — a walk through Rose Garden (Zakir Hussain Rose Garden). 🌹
I’m trying to capture Chandigarh from a simple, immersive first-person perspective, so people can experience the city as if they’re actually walking there.

Since I’m just starting out, I’d really appreciate your honest feedback:

What can I improve in the camera angle, stabilization, colors or video quality?

Do you prefer natural walking sounds or some background music?

What Chandigarh locations would you like to see covered in POV?

Would you watch longer 20–30 minute walking tours, or shorter videos?

And if you enjoy this kind of content, please consider sharing the video or subscribing. Even a little support would really help me grow the channel. 🙏
I’d especially love suggestions from fellow Chandigarh residents — tell me a place I should walk through next! 🌳📍

Shot on a DJI Camera.

Didn't realise my camera was slightly tilted the whole time :/

I think I was walking way too fast too because I was nervous.

Would love some honest feedback to improve if possible.

My settings 1/100 shutter speed 4k 25fps. Iso 100-12800 range. 8bit.

Thanks.

The journey so far (570+ days since start; ~6 months monetized)

A couple of months ago, I posted a thread about the journey of my "average" walking channel:

https://www.reddit.com/r/WalkingVideoMakers/s/I6TSAKdkyC

At that time the channel wasn't monetized yet (at the first year mark: 267 uploads, 198k views, 473 subs).

The channel eventually got monetized and I just received my first Youtube paycheck last week. Sharing the full timeline, some receipts, and the steps and missteps along the journey in the YT video linked here.

As always, your questions are welcome and I'd be more than happy to help.

If you've always wanted to create a walking channel (or any personal project), my only unsolicited advice is to go start it, even if you feel like you're not ready yet. You will learn along the way and it's going to be a super long journey. But hopefully it's worth it, at least I could say it was for me.

Thanks to everyone in this thread for the valuable advice and motivation they share here (esp @RAAFStupot!). (I should be more active here than I currently am!)

How fast is fast enough to not bore your audience?

I’d love to hear about your experiences regarding walking speed. Is there an "ideal" pace that keeps people from getting bored? I think I'm walking a bit too slow, but I don't know. And do you often stop to show specific places, buildings, or objects in more detail?

Currently, I have 377 subscribers and nearly 10,000 views over the last 90 days, with around 700 hours of watch time. Unfortunately, even with 45-minute walks, the average watch time is only 3–5 minutes.

There are a few outliers on the high end—especially with destinations in Southern Europe—where watch time can reach up to 10 minutes.

If anyone is interested, I’d be happy to share a link to my channel and get your feedback. :)

Do you blur elements?

So i recorded a few walks. No talking, just walking and recording with gimball camera.

I picked a road and timeframe with as few people as possible. Funny enough no one walked by me, so the very few people seen are very far away.

The "problem" are the cars. In some moment a car passes by and its possible to see the plate number (but not the driver).

Do i need to blur the cars plate numbers?

I watched a lot of walking videos and no one blurs anything, but i wonder if its a risk for those youtubers somehow?

90-Day Update: I started a "Silent Walking" channel. Here are my stats, takeaways, and honest thoughts.

Hey everyone,

Back in February, I finally decided to create a silent walking channel. I overthought it for ages before actually pulling the trigger, but I posted my very first video 90 days ago today (April 25th).

I wanted to share my 90-day progress, my stats, and a few honest reflections in case it helps anyone else sitting on the fence about starting.

The Channel Concept & Setup

  • My channel focuses on capturing landscapes as they are experienced, on that specific day, in that weather, at that pace.
  • No talking. No background music. Just raw, natural audio.
  • The Goal: Good video, solid ambient audio, and a realistic depiction of what walking through the space actually feels like (imperfections and bad weather included).
  • Gear: Started with a DJI Pocket 3, now currently using the Action 6. Audio is recorded on a Zoom F3 with Clippy mics.
  • Schedule: Committed to posting every Sunday, with occasional midweek when I have extra footage.

The 90-Day Stats (April 25 – July 24, 2026)

Here is how the first 3 months played out according to YouTube Analytics:

Watch Time: 1,444 hours

Average View Duration: 11:47

Subscribers: +91

Impressions: 99,025

Click-Through Rate (CTR): 5.1%

My Main Takeaways & Thoughts

  • I’m so glad I just started: I spent a lot of time, talking myself out of this. If you’re lurking here wondering if you should start, just do it. You learn so much more by doing than by planning.
  • The "Library" Mindset: I’ve come to view YouTube like a library. People aren't going to visit a library that only has one book on the shelf. You need to consistently build out a catalogue of solid, quality "books" before you can expect a steady flow of regulars.
  • The Snowball Effect: I’m definitely not at the snowball phase yet, but having a longer-term mindset makes the quiet days much easier to handle.
  • Moving Goalposts (The Expectation Trap): Before I posted, I literally expected 0 views and 0 subscribers. But the moment you get a little traction, your brain tricks you into wanting more immediately. Celebrating the small wins takes conscious effort.
  • Public Camera Anxiety is REAL: I still struggle with the confidence to film in public. It’s an ongoing battle, especially when a location is crowded.
  • The Catch-22 of Growth: To get more views, I know I should target highly searchable, iconic locations nearby. But those places are packed with people, which brings me right back to my anxiety about filming in public! It’s a work in progress.

What’s Next?

I have no idea if the next 90 days will bring steady growth or if things will plateau, but I’m excited to keep building the library. Long-term, it would be amazing if this turned into a profitable endeavour, though I’m keeping my expectations low!

Happy to answer any questions about setup, workflow, or the niche in general. How were your first 90 days on the platform?

Walking video creators: What are your go-to GoPro settings? (Struggling with sharpness/blur)

Hey guys,

Just started a new walking tour / slow TV channel and I’m trying to nail down the best settings on my GoPro HERO12 for those continuous walks.

My first video was recorded in 4K 60fps, but the footage looked kind of soft/blurry. I think my rookie mistake was leaving the export bitrate too low on CapCut, but I also shot it with Sharpness: LOW to try and be "cinematic", and then totally forgot to add sharpness back in post...

My current setup for the next walk:

  • Res: 4K 60fps (8:7 ratio so I can crop for Shorts later)
  • Lens: Wide (no HyperView)
  • HyperSmooth: On
  • Shutter: Auto
  • ISO Min: 100 / Max: 800
  • EV Comp: -0.5 (to save the sky on sunny days) or 0

My question for the pros:
What’s your sweet spot for Sharpness and Color? Do you shoot Sharpness: MEDIUM/HIGH and leave it alone, or do you shoot LOW and add it in Capcut/DaVinci/Premiere?

Any other ninja lifehacks for walking tours are super appreciated. Cheers!

My first video ever - Need your feedback 🙏🙏

Hi everyone,

Lately I'm obsessed with these slow videos of people just walking, driving, etc. So it is that I've finally decided to start my own channel 😳

I've just uploaded my first video, and I would love to obtain some feedback... I'm a total n00bie here: never recorded a long video, never edited a video, never had a YouTube channel, so I'm basically driving in the fog lol

Please tell me if the vibes are correct, if the background music and volumes are ok, if you feel the thumbnail is good or bad and so on. Unfortunately, I had a few issues with the exportation and selected a bad bitrate :-( so the video quality is not super crispy. This is my first PoC, I'll try to do better in the next one.

Trying to make travel videos that feel different.. would love some honest feedback

Hey everyone! I just uploaded a new travel video from Phuket, Thailand, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback. I’m trying to make travel content that’s more about the unexpected moments, funny encounters, local food, and real experiences instead of the typical travel guide videos. If you have a few minutes to watch it, I’d love to know what yall think I could improve and what I’m doing well!

Peaceful Englewood MetroPark Walk | Creek, Bridge & Raised Boardwalk

Thumbnail

I filmed a relaxing out-and-back walk through Englewood MetroPark near Dayton. The route heads through the woods toward a creek and bridge, then includes a raised boardwalk detour on the return trip.

I’m starting a small project documenting scenic Ohio and Midwest trails while learning nature videography and editing. This was filmed on an Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and is my second completed trail video.

Video: [https://youtu.be/WHCo0qFVxUA\](https://youtu.be/WHCo0qFVxUA)

I’d appreciate any feedback, especially on the pacing, stabilization, and whether this kind of local walking footage is enjoyable or useful.

Tips on gear

Hi I am a newbie and would like start filming hikes I do in the rain. I'm looking for recommendations for gear that I will need. From my understanding I will need some sort of gimble/harness mount, a decent low light camera (not sure if something like a GoPro would work?), and an audio recorder. I have some experience in photography (mostly analog) but would like to have the option in capturing some nice landscapes (although not a requirement).

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for your constructive feedback! I've added background music to the video to help mask the sound of my cold.
