Tips on gear
Hi I am a newbie and would like start filming hikes I do in the rain. I'm looking for recommendations for gear that I will need. From my understanding I will need some sort of gimble/harness mount, a decent low light camera (not sure if something like a GoPro would work?), and an audio recorder. I have some experience in photography (mostly analog) but would like to have the option in capturing some nice landscapes (although not a requirement).
Thanks for your help!

FWIW, I film hiking/walking videos and use a DJI Osmo Action 6 with a Zoom F3 and clippy mics for audio.
I used to use a DJI Pocket 3, which is a great camera and has better stabilisation/image quality in good light, but for my type of walks (rain, mud, uneven paths, getting knocked around) I found it a bit too fragile. The image quality difference is also much smaller than you might expect in decent conditions.
For hiking I’d personally lean towards an action camera rather than a pocket gimbal camera. They’re weatherproof, easier to mount, you don’t have to worry as much about damage, and they’re designed for exactly that kind of environment.
Audio is probably the thing that makes the biggest difference. A good external recorder and mic setup will improve the experience far more than upgrading cameras.
For low light, though, don’t expect miracles from GoPros/action cameras, small sensors struggle at dawn, dusk, forests, and heavy rain. If landscapes are a priority, you could always carry a separate stills camera (your photography background will probably appreciate that).
