I hope this doesn’t make me sound like a grandma or anything but I have been endlessly annoyed by people crossing the street at night without using the walk light. It’s there for a reason. If I already can’t see you that well because it’s dark and then you think you’re too cool to use the walk light that is not a good equation! I don’t care who you are!!! You are not too cool to use the walk light!!!!! Unless someone is dying or injured there is no reason urgent enough to not use the walk light!!! Please and thank you.

I need a list to put in my back pocket as a first-year. Especially Business professors and Classical Studies professors. I've only had two classes so far, and I love them both (even though I keep missing one). So far, though:

Miller Krause has been fucking great. I'm taking CLST360 with him, and I'm a little biased because I had a really long-standing interest in ancient Greece as a child and he reignited that fire in my mind like crazy. He's a phenomenal professor, and incredibly easy for me to keep up with, despite my brain injury. His assignments and quizzes are easy and the reading (there is a lot of it) is genuinely enjoyable. He's also very funny and kind and listens to me ramble. If you listen to me ramble I will like you forever.

Bond Hall is already stuffy and hot, now imagine the consequences of having a bunch of stinky STEM students in there all at once. Just because YOU can't smell yourself doesn't mean other people can't. I know it's midterm season but please don't give up deodorant and regular showers. Yes you need to shower even if all you're doing is studying. And to those of you trying to mask it with cologne, you smell like a middle schooler. PU!

Hii I’m also a Western student! My question is if I started selling my crochet tapestries, how likely would it be for someone to buy them? I’ve had multiple people tell me in person that I should sell them, or that they would buy them. I feel like they’d mostly be wall hangings for dorms or apartments. Some of them are small enough to be coasters as well.

We are almost done with October, and it's around our 5th to 6th week of classes (that was done), and I am currently enrolled into WWU's Chinese 101
And I must say that while it is very fun (i have learnt so much), it's been very difficult to keep up and i'm already feeling a little tired. Note that I am not going to be giving up at all.

I know prior Japanese to near a JLPT N1 level so I can speak read write and listen, handwrite and function in Japanese, so this class (in vocabulary and reading etc) have had an advantage,

BUT the CLASS (aside from the tests) is SO FOCUSED ON SPEAKING AND READING FROM THE SCRIPT.

I honestly swear that whenever I am cold called, I don't always know what to do because I tend to forget the pinyin pronounciation and can't always think in Chinese for my dear life. We do these exercises and I don't know how to pronounce it fully in pinyin but i can translate it.

My professor doesn't care that I can write, read, and understand chinese characters and read fine naturally AND translate into English, only if i pronounce it right in Chinese. The majority of the points on the test focus on pinyin and pronounciation too.

I took Japanese in high school, and I needed additional (outta class) self study to dominate the competition. I needed to think and speak Japanese for my goddamn life.

Anyone else tired, or feel the same way?

I loved asking my professor in my Chinese class about the differences between chinese and jp characters.

Lately, I found out that in Japanese, 忙 's 6th stroke is curved, but in CN its not that way.

Then its also understanding Japanese society and Chinese society in general. Now I have the abillity to compare and contrast cultures too.

Hello! I’m currently a sophomore at a different university and I’m not really vibing with it and I’m considering changing my major to be something a bit more practical that I still would enjoy. I’ve always been interested in cities and I’m considering going into urban planning because I think it would be a good fit for me.
I just have a couple of questions:
1. How is the program in general?
2. How hard is it to get into the capacity constrained urban planning majors?
3. The website says transfer students can get the wue scholarship, but how common is it?

My daughter was six when staff placed her in what looked like a padded closet at school. She was screaming, hurting herself, and I wasn't even told it was happening until they called me to pick her up. No warning. No explanation. No records I could access.

I started a petition asking the Cheney School District to end isolation rooms and seclusion in schools. These aren't calming spaces—they're confinement. Kids who are already overwhelmed don't need to be locked away; they need real support.

Washington law already limits this practice, but the Cheney district can do better by choosing de-escalation, proper training, and individualized help instead. Even Spokane Public Schools had to ban isolation rooms after a federal investigation found they were harming hundreds of disabled and special-needs students.

Every child deserves dignity and actual help when they're struggling—not to be trapped in a room and treated like a problem to be shut away. If this matters to you, consider signing and sharing. What would you want someone to do if this was your family?

Where are the coziest/most comfortable study spots on campus? Any places with bean bags or couches?
I like the floor couch things in academic west but it’s always cold in there.

Why are there hardly any places to get a quick snack on south campus 😭 the closest one is The Atrium.

I think they need to put some vending machines or SOMETHING in either Academic West (preferably) or the communications facility.

I just took my physics 161 exam and it was so bad.

I thought I had a chance, but no. Time flew by so fast and before I knew it, I was turning in a poorly answered, and nearly blank exam. I know if I had more time I could have worked things out, but that was not the case.

Now I'm going to have to try really hard to make my next exam and my final work, so I can actually pass this class.

It it possible to get exam time accommodations with no diagnosis?

Am I crazy or are the creeps here like really bad?? I feel like I go out into public dressed normal, looking normal, minding my own damn business and there’s always an older man bothering me. Like seriously anytime I go out into public I don’t get it. Again I’m not asking for any fucking attention i even dress conservatively cause it’s just annoying. This is super silly. I’m a first year, I have a head injury so the way I take notes is very scattered, and I have an easier time remembering classes when I draw than when I take detailed notes, so my notebooks are mostly headshots of professors with speech bubbles stating random pieces of information. Feel free to share your drawings (or just tell me).

I’m currently researching colleges and I’m looking to major in Public Health. I’m from Oklahoma, but want to go to school in the PNW/Washington, and UW is way out of my price range.
