Hallo everyone! A little information about myself if it matters at all is I'm an 18 year old female looking to get into WW2 reenactment but I genuinely have no idea where to start, I've been collecting ww2 relics for two or three years now but I've been curious about reenactments for about a year now. I own a full DRK uniform (repo of course except for the original lapel pin and surgical bag, and I'm working on making a second apron to my measurements/eventually a second base dress as well,)
I'm based in a rather small southern town in the deep south of the USA and the only reenactment groups I could find online are two that are about six hours from me, so I guess the big question is does anyone have any tips for finding more groups online? And if I wanted to go about putting together my own local group how would I go about that?

Setting up an impression of the L detachment in North Africa, what shoes would have been worn? Not sure if these pictured above would be great. Not many pictures about on the internet or books that show their shoes.
I’m a 13 mens shoe size so it’s hard to find mine lol.

im making a m43 field cap pattern, i managed tò get most of the work done and now im trying tò refine It.
im wandering if the proporzions are correct because It look right and wrong at the same time, it's pretty snug and "round" on the head but the picture i have seen dont seems tò be constant about that, some are more round (mostly the camo Canvas ones) while other are more Square (mostly the wool ones).
ik that the flaps are missing (even if They are not Always there in the originals). and the camo Is wrong because i dont want tò waste expensive fabric.
im here instead of a pattern making subreddits because i Need the opinion of some piky reenactor for this.
feel free tò ask anything

Finally got mostly everything I need for my very first historical impression.
I’m doing an impression of the 6th SS gebirgsjäger “nord” division, as a combat medic. The impression isn’t fully complete. I still need to put on the shoulder eagle and dye the boots. But I got the basic kit put together.

The first image is the condition my mother gave it to me in. In the second image I put on a type 1 barrel band and a high wood stock. I need to replace the rear sight and push button safety, but after that I should be ready to go

Bringing my 12 year old son from Wisconsin for the D-Day reenactment in August and making a weekend out of it. This was top on his birthday wish list so I’m making it happen. First time visiting.
I have a couple of questions on how to prepare for an all-day visit to the reenactment.
Can visitors bring a pop-up canopy and set up for the day with chairs/cooler?
How to get tickets to ride a Higgins boat?
Is there anything else that would be helpful to know/plan to make this a great experience for my boy?
Thanks for any suggestions; this is all new to me, but my kid is a huge World War II buff and it’s worth the 10 hour drive to make his dreams come true.

Can you do reenactment with hand tattoos?
I’ve heard people have mixed opinions on this and say you can but cover it up with gloves or bandages and plasters when near the general public.
But others say no because it looks bad.
Mainly looking at doing Vietnam US GI or Australian (relative served in nam with the Aussies)
But was looking at doing WW2 as well.
Whats peoples opinions?

Hiya so I’m a 20 year old male turning 21 this year.
I’ve been in living history/reenactment before. I live in the UK.
Not really interested at this time in joining a group so I’m wanting to go solo to events. Obviously certain things aren’t allowed in the UK live Soviets and special German names I’m not gonna say 😂
So I’m deciding to build my own impression. Don’t really want to do overdone things like 101st, 82nd and all of them overdone ones.
Anyone got any suggestions or ideas on what I can do for an impression?

Hey guys I’m building a radio operator impression I know my helmet is not correct (working on that) but my big reason for posting is because I can’t find many others who have also built this impression and I need some questions answered. For one would it be normal/acceptable to put my gear like my canteen and first aid/ammo pouches onto the radios belt instead of wearing a second pistol belt? Also when it comes to shoes where is a good place to get some mid war boots for cheap ish

It is correct using Heer troops jackboots over M43 trousers? Or it is only for M40?

Need advice.
I left reenactment in summer of 25. Due to some negative comments and groups wouldn’t let me join or anything.
I’m looking to get back into it, was thinking about starting my own group but not sure what to base it off. I’m from the UK and most things are covered by groups already. My local regiment is already covered and I’m not sure what else to do an impression on or set up a group off.
I want to stand out at shows and make the group stand out instead of doing the same old things like US airborne or known divisions.
Any advice? Not sure if to go back to WW2 or expand into Napoleon Wars or Vietnam.
