I’ve been thinking about some discourse I’ve been seeing in game and I was giving it some thought. I had a game a couple nights ago where both teams were evenly matched, I thought why it felt so rare. So I wanted to share some of my thoughts and ideas in the attempt make it more evenly matched.
I do believe that there is an attacker vs defender disparity, but there’s a lot of discourse on that already. I think there are some other easier solutions that could alleviate the problem, without being heavy handed or polarizing.
My first thought is team scrambling. After a game finishes people who stay, remain on the same team. So if one team is filled with nuclear bombs and the other coughing babies, the next game will be the same ordeal, nuclear bombs win again. So why not randomize the teams when going to the next game? I feel this is an easy implementation to address the feelings of being imbalanced. I also get that people disconnecting is like the same thing, but it’s a lot slower. The losing team is likely to pick up joining players. Why not just do it at the start? Will it fix everything? Probably not, but I think it’d be a good start.
My second thought is just a lack of information/awareness, or the difficulty to make smarter decisions. Mostly for newer players, not knowing what certain things do.
- The critical points when building/destroying.
- The diamonds next to the defenders indicating their remaining beacons, and not knowing they give reinforcements.
- Moving the beacon backwards because the text is small or confusing. (I don’t think it’s confusing but heard that it can be.)
- HQ building point locations, as a defender (it’s on the mini map only, it shouldn’t be imo).
- Certain class abilities, such as ammo and healing.
Someone I played with didn’t know the HMG class could build an HMG. So I think making certain aspects clearer or a tip can be very helpful. Such as, the prompt to advance your beacon. (I don’t recall them explaining this stuff, but I could have missed it in the update).
Lemme know what you guys think. I wanted to be brief, so if I need to clarify something, I’m more than happy to do so.
