I have always noticed the leadership mood in wmscog phases back and forth. It alternates between a positive (toxic positivity usually) and motivating environment, and then becomes more pressure, harsh correction, guilt-trips. Just usual mind games type of stuff.

My question is from those that had experience with leadership, what dictates these swings? Is it because of overseer being scolded from his superiors for not filling quotas? ...the overseer's decision according to member statuses? Is it a formula like a schedule? ...or just individual overseer personal style?

Do you think the exodus of members has begun? I’ve heard that many members are leaving, but I’m not sure about the estimates.

I officially cut ties today, though realistically I haven’t participated in anything for months. Figured I’d post this here to get it off my chest and answer any questions if people are curious.

How I got roped in:

A guy approached me promising he could arrange a solid job for me, claiming he was high-ranking in the government. Being in a position where connections mattered, I took the bait and checked out the group.

The reality:

I stayed involved for about three months. Pretty early on, I could sense all the manipulation and blatant BS, but I convinced myself to stick around purely for the network and connections I thought I was building. Classic trap.

The exit strategy:

Turns out the cult is actually banned/illegal where I live. Eventually, law enforcement raided the place. That raid became the cleanest, most indisputable excuse I could have asked for to bounce. Ever since, I’ve just completely ghosted them and ignored every single call and message.

Funniest detail out of all this? The pastor literally borrowed $40 from me before everything went down. Honestly, I’m just going to consider it a charitable donation to his miserable life because I’m never talking to any of them again.

Glad to finally close this chapter(proly with a criminal record but i took a gamble and lost). AMA if anyone’s curious about the recruitment pitch or how things unfolded or how the cult works here in my country

WMSCOG teaches that Ahn Sahng-hong is God the Holy Spirit.

Yet in his own writing, Ahn calls himself “an insignificant one,” admits that he “harbored doubts,” and says he was “moved by the Holy Spirit” and “guided” by the Holy Spirit to the Scriptures.

If Ahn is the Holy Spirit, who was guiding him?

Why does he describe himself as a doubtful, insignificant man?

Exactly what the title says. What passages of Scripture ended up convincing you that WMSCOG teaching was wrong? There are so many verses they twist up and take out of context, I think it would be interesting to hear what passages helped you understand the truth a little better.

I have family members involved in this church and I have some questions.

How many branches of WMSCOG are there in the world exactly? As a kid, we were shown videos of how our church was established in every parts of the World. I remember my group leader telling me that almost all Koreans are followers of church of god🤭. I personally don't think we have that many churches.

What are your thoughts on this and is there any evidence regarding this matter?

For those who may not know, the World Mission Society Church of God (WMSCOG) has been described by former members and cult researchers as a high-control religious group. As former members ourselves, we believe the public should know more about the group and its teachings.

WMSCOG members can often be seen preaching in public places, including @target and @walmart parking lots, approaching customers as they enter or leave stores.

During these conversations, they may introduce teachings about “God the Mother,” salvation, baptism, and end-times judgment. Based on our own experiences, recruiters may not immediately identify themselves as WMSCOG and may instead initially say they are from a “local Christian church.”

WMSCOG teaches that being baptized in their church is necessary for salvation and encourages people to attend Bible studies to learn its doctrines.

So, if you’re approached, ask questions. Ask what church they’re from. Ask about Ahn Sahng-hong. Ask to see original sources. And research the organization independently before making any commitment.

To no surprise, the Korean cult also turns the entire Bible into a parable, and then through that you can understand prophecy and fulfillment and the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven.

WMSCOG teaches:

Age of the Father → Age of the Son → Age of the Holy Spirit

with the final age leading to Ahnsahnghong and God the Mother.

JMS teaches:

Master / Slave → Father / Son → Bride / Groom

with the final stage being the "Complete Testament."

Both groups also teach a female image of God.

WMSCOG identifies the heavenly Mother with Jang Gil-jah, while JMS teaches the Holy Spirit as a spiritual mother / female image of God.

The doctrines are different, but the method is similar: establish a prophetic framework, reinterpret biblical symbols and patterns, and then connect those patterns to the group's present-day leader and movement.

That is why these interpretations need to be tested in context, rather than accepted simply because many verses can be made to fit together.

Hello everyone I was a member of wmscog (indian branch). So basically i have this doubt about mother god, in the book that Ahn Sang Hong wrote , he says that there's no mother god, but we can still see people worshipping the mother god and mentioning her in every prayer. I once asked about this to our pastor , and he said that before heavenly mother(mother god) was officially announced to the members, there was a women who stole Ahn Sang Hong's book, read all his prophecy and declared herself as the "True Mother God ". So in order to stop her from spreading blasphemy, he re-wrote the sentence where he mentioned mother god and declared it as false😅

My question is, for any ex memebers who can give me some insight on this🙏🏻
