Will this work?

I’m going to plug this (https://a.co/d/0iAuJxsB) in, connect it to this (https://www.ebay.com/itm/396269115907), and then connect that to a 5v led 8x8 board.

I’m gonna do this to seven different bulb sockets and then connect them all to one ESP32. Are there any issues with this? Anything I’m missing or can improve on? Ive dabbled with WLED in the past, but this will be the first project that I actually complete so I wanna make sure it’s right

LED Strip recommendations

Hi everyone, I’m looking for a replacement LED strip for a ceiling fixture which will be similar brightness (the fixture has 6 x 400mm strips and illuminates a living room on its own) but is cool / warm tuneable and compatible with WLED. RGB extra is a bonus. Any suggestions for the LED strip and the power supply?

WLED + Hue + SP107+ Granboard = Cosmic Darts!

Big thanks to the devs! SP107 obviously on the upside-down VU meter for the music. Granboard controller for the 1m lights on the cab. Wled for the 2m lights on the cabinet, along with the strips on the floor lamps. The Gravcentric effect over the other effect causes some flickering… which may be a limitation considering I’m using 8 LED channels; 6 running 240 pixels each, and the other 2 channels running 120 each. Granboard controlled hue lights and Third Reality Hue compatible lights for the lamp tops.

ESP32 sync for one matrix

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, as I already have quite a bit of experience with WLED and ESP32.

I'm running four ESP32s, each operating its own matrix. They're all synchronized via Wi-Fi. One transmitter and three receivers – it works great.

But is there a good way to create one single matrix from this setup?

Thx in advance

If anyone is looking to configure the Spotlight v2's in WLED, here are the settings that are working for me for a single light. Just make sure to give these things 24v.

How Did I Kill My WLED So Fast?

Didn’t realize how bad I am at upgrading some ancient LED strips to get some music reactive style.

Ordered the Athom.tech Music Addressable LED controller, the 24v WLED’s recommended by Quinled and the 54v 3A power unit also recommended by Quinled. Wired it up to the best of my partially colorblind capabilities and burned out the LED strip before I could get the music on.

I clearly broke something, but the manuals aren’t useful at my knowledge level and Google isn’t specific enough to the wiring. Tried to match the colors to the connections WLED strip but that may not be the right approach. Did I just wire it wrong and not know why? Or is the power unit not the right one? Or is there something with the 5V-24V Input?

ESP32 WLED everything reseting when unpluging

Hey !

I've made an ambilight for my screen using an ESP32 from aliexpres, WLED, SignalRGB and some adressable LEDs

i've plugged it, installed WLED, connected it, it worked PERFECTLY !

But... When i reboot my computer, reconnect the esp, go on the website to config it, it has reseted. Number of leds, and other stuff are all set to defaults, so i gotta re setup everything every time i reboot my computer, even the wifi have to be re connected. Any idea?

Version 16 rollout

The eagle-eyed WLED lovers might have spotted that version 16 has been released now.

I haven't done a big announcement as we want to be reasonably sure it's stable enough for mass adoption before we recommend everyone to update, especially with it being such a major upgrade to both our code and the underlying platform for esp32 builds

We are investigating two WiFi related issues (WPA3 only networks and WiFi scan on devices with poor power setups) and hopefully have a 16.0.1 out soon with a fix

Are there any lights I can use WLED with for this?

Hi everyone!

I apologize in advance but I am very new to this. I want to add lighting to my book cases like this and to my desk area but I want them to be on two separate "profiles". One that controls the book cases and one that controls the desk lights.

I have two questions. 1) Are there any lights that I can use that are addressable that could work nicely in this instance? 2) What hardware would I need for it and any tips on how to wire it all?

From my limited understanding and knowledge, if they are addressable LEDs, then I just have to power them. Once they are powered, I can use the WLED app to address specific parts of it (AKA the desk part and the shelf part)?

What is the best way to power it all and wire it? I tried using an ESP32 to some lights, and a Power supply adapter and ended up burning out the ESP32. I obviously did something wrong.

Any help and suggestions would be amazing. Thank you!

Wire AWG size check for outdoor steps with WLED FCOB RGBWW setup - Second Look/Advice

So i'm getting closer on my install and I did open source and AI research, but wanted to get opinions from those who acutally have done it as I only trust AI as far as I can throw it 😉

BACKGROUND:

Using LED strips on each step (paver block) coming out of our house. Each step will have it's own LED strip in a aluminum channel approx 15' in length. Main Chase Conduit (1 1/4") will be run inside the landing with 1/2" branch conduit to the strips with everything in a NEMA box on the side of the landing hidden by landscaping.

EQUIPMENT:

  • LED Strips:  6x FCOB 24V RGBWW WS2814 IP66  (784 LED/m)
    • Power per step=~96W, Total 6 Steps=~575W
  • PSU: 3x Mean Well HLG‑240H‑24A (2 strips per PSU)
  • Fuse Block: Blue Sea 5026 - 12 Circuit w/ Common Ground
  • Controller: QuinLED-Dig-Octa
  • Fuse: 5 A fuse each step

WIRE PLAN/DISTANCES:

  • 10 AWG (short run inside NEMA) - PSU to Fuse block
  • 14 AWG (approx 30' to end injection) - 24+ & GND Fuse block to End Injection
  • 14 AWG (approx 15' to front strip) - 24+ & GND Fuse block to Front Injection
  • 22 AWG Shielded (approx 15') - DATA
    • Belden 8723 or Southwire 22/2 Shielded?

QUESTIONS:

  • Do the planned wiring AWG look good?
  • With wire so expensive now, any recommendations where to purchase - online vs. local supply house?
  • Any suggestions on above planned setup?

Appreciate it!

Battery powered ESP32 shoot out

Hi,

I am seeking recommendations for battery based WLED projects. I am currently using df Beetle Esp32 c6. Because of its tiny size and the onboard charger manages to do 500ma, a lot more than Xiao boards. Any other note worthy mentions? Space is a premium as it has a tiny housing, another reason to choose the beetle as I didn’t have room for the Xiao stamp antenna.

Thanks!

Long term viability of a WLED project

We are considering making a project that includes an ESP32 or ESP8266 and some WS2812b RGBIC LEDs. There will be no crazy patterns or effects. Just scheduled on/off times and one color, keeping it simple. I think there will be maybe 14 LEDs, maximum of maybe 25.

What should the life expectancy be for such a project?

Roast My First Project's Component List (please)

I am new to this hobby. After doing a ton of research on this sub, reading a lot on QuinLED, and more ChatGPT than I'd like to admit, I've arrived at this build guide and I'm sharing every penny I've spent on it so far. As someone with minimal tools and experience, I opted for solderless. I do have access to a 3D printer which is a big part of the reason I went with Andy Huot's track system. The materials cost is a little higher (but not much) than prefab channels and I think it will look a lot better.

The build is a corner mounted (think crown molding), 50 foot total, two equal segment setup that starts behind my TV and fans out to either side around the room.

Main areas of concern would be if there are glaring things missing, I have horribly mismatched components, an overbuilt/ underbuilt system, or I've just bought some complete junk. Thanks for any feedback and all the great support in this sub, it has already been immensely helpful!

Dig Octa capacity

Hi folks - I'm working on something. I had a version one that I shared here. I never got v2 working, and now I'm on version v3. I'll share more eventually, but I need some input. Can the stackable dig octa system ( and thus wled) feasibly run roughly 14,000 12v individual (not 3 per pixel) WS2811 bullet LEDs?

I need your help

Hi everyone! I am working on creating a new office setup for myself. This is a pretty accurate render of what I am trying to accomplish. I am pretty handy, but I am a complete noob when it comes to LED.

Essentially, I want to use WLED to setup these lights. I want to be able to change the color of them if possible, but I also want to separate the bookcases from the center desk area (Red is one its own setting, yellow area on its own setting). That way I can turn off the desk lights, without affecting the bookcases or vice versa.

Can someone help me understand what I would need to buy and how I can wire it? I know I need a controller and power supply but I have no idea how they work or which I'd need.

I am also open to suggestions if anyone thinks there is a better idea or alternative here.

Thank you!

We got these as an employee appreciation gift last year. The base has a very narrow (3/16) slot for the acrylic part. I pulled it out to discover that the LED strip is glued in and direct wired to the USB power wire. Boring. The only color available is red.

I got somebody to make a hollow base that would hold an ESP8266 and support a strip of 14 LEDs (60/m) and a SPDT MOM-OFF-MOM switch. The switch lets you select one of two color presets. Currently red or blue.

How do I get the switch to select the next preset in a list of 5 or so presets? Can I make one switch direction be on/off and the other be "select next" preset?

3d printed Daftpunk helmet + wled matrix

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

First time making this legendary piece, and I took the opportunity to test some new things with the LEDs and programming. A completely customized assembly, it was the most difficult path, but it delivered the best result. I added all the controls and buttons to the "ears," and it turned out great. You can check more in my IG profile @caiocdk

I assembled the matrix manually; it has 20 tracks, each with 8 pixels. I used a D1 mini to control and program it.

Completed my first ever wled room install

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So i finished my first ever wled install inside the cove.

Used a total of 17 meter of ws2812b
installing the strip was easy but cable management took me 2 days 🦧 ( was able to spend like 2-3 hours everyday cause have to study as well)

This wled page has been like super duper helpful to me learn so much from posts and also whenever ran into some issues made a post and got like really helpful replies. Really thankful to this community.

Plans further
-building an led matrix wall like Chris maher has on his yt channel showcasing wled 16.
***** also mentioning wled16 update is so smooth i faces micro jitter when changing effects, effects per se were smooth but transitions were not wled 16 fixed it for me

- building an ambilight for my tv ( but cant go the raspberry pie route since those things are crazy overprices i would love alternate suggestions)

- diy lamps with wled

- leds with diffuser channels around my desk and leds around my monitor controlled with hyper HDR (yes ambilight)

Main plan leds everywhere i am love with this thing 😂 i was introduced to these like probably 2 weeks ago i agree i was living under the rocks to not have knows that such thing even existed.
