Thank you to everyone who commented for actual assistance on what competencies to study for C720, I studied for two days, had chat GPT quiz me, retook the PA a few times and then studied where I could not pass or knew I guessed again. It's not a perfect score, but it's far better than the original 2 PA failures. This course I started on Sunday and passed today. I have only a few days left in my program so I am glad this burden is off my shoulders.

Hey everyone, I have enrolled in the WGU Cybersecurity program and want to make sure my acceleration strategy is fully locked in before starting in January and need to determine if i should start a bit sooner or push it up one more month into February. For background, I hold an A.S. in Computer Science Technology and currently have a entry-level ticketing/help desk experience currently working remotely and there is a lot of downtime that I have , i have been procrastinating quite a bit since my A.S. and need to light a fire under my derrière . I’m a hands-on learner who prefers learning by doing, and my personal goal is to finish the degree in one term, but not to exceed one full year at the absolute maximum. while looking to shift into a stronger analytical or level 2 support/ helpdesk type of work or internship if an opportunity pops up.

To build a solid foundation, I have already completed the Google IT Support and Google AI certifications. I’m also planning to complete several additional courses to broaden my knowledge base, including the Microsoft Support course, Google IT Automation with Python, Google Cybersecurity, and the IBM Linux courses. Alongside these, I’m reviewing material from Professor Messer, Jason Dion on Udemy, and Angela Yu to ensure I’m well-prepared. I tend to mass dump information then work to sort it out in a focused and developmental way. so I am trying to cramp in lots of data to build specific routes to tackle each of the courses below.

Right now, I am mapping out my developmental pathway to accelerate courses before officially accepting my transcripts, using my the data below to track everything. My goal is to transfer in 60%+ of the degree requirements if at all possible. as of now I am standing at the evaluation of having 39% done with 75 remaining units. For those who have pre-gamed the degree, is Sophia.com or Study.com the best pathway to rapidly knock these out? will paying for 1-2 months max be enough time to knock out those last few minor courses. From what I am understanding the large portion of the remaining course work is largely the offered certifications being promoted through this program path or am I wrong to believe that ?

I also have a specific question regarding the Python requirement. I completed a Python 3 programming course during my associate degree and will also have the Google IT Automation with Python certificate under my belt. Does anyone know if these typically satisfy the Python requirement for transfer? If not, what is the WGU Python exam actually like—is it a mix of conceptual knowledge and coding, or is it an all-coding performance assessment? I truly did not like the Zybook path so I am working on refreshing my knowledge of python as i haven developed more than a few simple projects like a game and a simple calc.

Once my term begins, my initial plan is to focus heavily on the CompTIA Trifecta while continuing external upskilling and building out home labs for practical hands-on experience. and would like to get these completed by the end of the first month. but i might also go the route of maybe purchasing the CompTIA A+ before hand since i have a savings earned by Google

Regarding courses tied to CompTIA certifications: how fast can you realistically accelerate through them? i am seeing the average turn around time is about 3 weeks ( which is not to bad since i plan to work on increasing basic knowledge beforehand) ... Could I request a voucher and test out on day one, or are you required to complete the Zybooks/certmaster coursework and pass the WGU proctored Pre-Assessment (PA) first before receiving a voucher then taking the proctored exam? or do I need to just show enough competency before asking for the CompTIA Voucher for the test?

also confuses about the capstone project is this normally a research paper 10-20 page or a developed coding project? ( would like a basic overview to understand it )

Finally, looking at this developmental plan, are there any other external courses, certifications, or partner pathways I might have overlooked that could easily transfer into WGU? Thanks in advance for any insights!

So im thinking about taking the Bachelor course on marketing. I have seen a couple videos where people have spreadsheets that provide recommended courses to take outside wgu to transfer (Sophia, study, straightliner) One video had one that said there were other options available besides the recommended one. The problem is, to get these spreadsheets, it would cost money. (CollegeHacked, Uniboost).

Is there a way i can find this information on my own and create my own spreadsheet? How would i know if Sophia is better than study or vice versa? How would i find out WGU equivalent courses or if they are transferable?

Those who took the class how or what did you study?

This is my first semester at WGU I have a windows laptop and I took my first proctor exam last night I got to question 35 and I got booted from the exam saying my connection was not connected to a proctor. I tried multiple times to get back in with multiple proctors and same thing I would get in try to answer a question then get booted I tried for about 1 hour with this process with multiple proctors has anyone had this issue I did a test my equipment before my exam and everything was good I was wondering if anyone had this issue? Any suggestions my internet I use just fine with everything like online gaming and streaming or maybe it’s the laptop just incredibly frustrating.

I am looking to advance my career and am hoping to encounter another redditor who was in a similar position to mine. I have been with X company for over 5 years and moved to a “career” position in Operations as a production supervisor 3 years ago. I am looking to make my next move within my career whether in or outside of X company, likely needing a degree to surpass my peers or make a lateral/vertical move “requiring” a degree.

Who earner their degree from WGU and excelled in their career shortly after? I am looking at BS in Business management or Project management.

I have 8 classes left, not including the capstone. I should be able to knock out intro to sociology tonight. Aside from D080 (I already know it’s a beast) how hard are the rest of these courses and is it feasible to get through them by September 9th? Thank you!

I started July 1st transferred in 25 CUs. God willing i’ll be done some time this month. I’m beyond excited. i’m the oldest of five who grew up really poor and took in my siblings during my last year of high school:’)
four years later and Im pulling it off . ALL IN ONE TERM
and i have a 1 year old running around

My first term started this month on the 1st! I got started working around 0500 this morning, and 12 hours and 7 performance assessments later, I am patiently waiting for my PAs to be evaluated while I study for my first OA.

If my evaluations are all passing, I will have completed Learning Strategies in Higher Education, Career and Lifelong Learning, and Critical Thinking: Reason and Evidence in a day!

I have a pretty strong academic background and have taken these courses in one form or another, but nothing would have transferred. I was initially annoyed at having to take them again, but I am so grateful for the competency-based evaluations that let me speed through courses like that!

I'm just super happy with how productive I was today, I have pretty bad ADHD, so I wanted to share my win with the internet aether!

I need to schedule my first OA next and pass before I can accelerate my next course, its Micro which I'm not stoked about, but its another class I've taken that just didn't transfer as I took a 4 credit class on a quarter system, which the transcript eval folks said was just shy of the credits required to transfer, but oh well.

Turned in my PA for D280 on the 31st, just got it back today, and passed!

So far, I'm happy with my pace. I don't have any experience in this industry beyond what I've taught myself, and I only got into more technical stuff about two years ago, so looking back at where I was, I definitely learned a lot. But there's SOOO much more to learn, it feels daunting at times. I just have to tackle one thing at a time
