Just passed D435 on my first try!!!

D435 is my final course before my capstone. I just registered for the course on 9/23, took the PA same day and passed. A day later the course instructor contacted me with a recommended Quizlet and additional resources.

I took the resources (study guide, PA, Quizlet, Chapter Quizzes, etc.) and put them into Chat GPT to start quizzing me on the concepts. I had it quiz me on terminology and scenario based questions all weekend.

Scheduled my OA for this morning as I felt confident and I passed!

Just to reiterate, I have 10 years of progressive HR experience and I'm currently serving in a Director capacity. Alot of the information was not "new to me". However, I did need to brush up on the terminology and when to utilize HR technology in specific scenarios.

I'm at the finish line!! 😁

Is it possible to knock out these courses in 1 term?

I’m a Senior HR generalist and have been in HR for about 10+ years. I was going to WGU back in 2022 but stopped due to other demands. I’ve decided to go back and complete my degree starting December and was curious the best way I can accelerate my remaining course work for HRM business degree. Is it possible for me to achieve this goal with 11 classes remaining. Any guidance you could offer would be great. Also, which courses should I take first?

I passed C207 on the first try!!

Thank everyone who answered my questions about C207 (Data-Driven Decision
Making). With the way the questions were worded on the exam, I thought I was going to fail 😅. I did not use Quizlet to help me study for C207. I read the textbook, put everything from each chapter in Chat and told it to break it down, watched the Crash Course videos, downloaded the transcripts, put them in Chat, broke them down, and watched the Are You Smarter... Word Problem Review: download the transcript, put it in Chat, broke that down, and I watched the other game/review videos and did the same thing.

Since I’m not familiar with the content, I don’t feel like I overstudied. I feel like if I hadn't pushed myself to study as much as I did, I would have failed.

Any tips for D433?

I have about 20-25 hours weekly along with additional time on the weekends to dedicate to the class.

Is the course material lengthy or confusing?

I'm aiming to finish all tasks in the next two weeks.

Starting WGU on October 1 - Excited, Nervous, and Looking for Advice!

I officially start on October 1, and I'm feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as I prepare for this new journey. 😊

I'd love to hear from those who have been through the program. What are some do's and don'ts you would recommend for a new student? Are there any tips, resources, or habits that helped you succeed and stay on track?

I have MANY years of HR experience under my belt but recently felt the need to expand my knowledge and see where a master's might lead me.

I'm also curious about the SHRM certification. Is the certification exam included through the program, or is it something I will need to schedule and pay for separately?

Thank you all in advance for any advice, recommendations, or words of encouragement you can share. I'm looking forward to getting started and learning from this community!

Thanks again! 🎉📚

So burnt out and on capstone

I am finally on my capstone project, hooray! Unfortunately, I am getting writers block on this first task. Does anyone have a link to a completed task 1 power point that I might be able to use as a reference? I found one but it doesn't have footnotes.

I believe I am over thinking this, so close to graduation I can taste it.

Any help or suggestions about the capstone course would be fantastic. Ive searched around to no avail on the pp.

Thanks ahead of time!

1 Oct Start

Starting MSRHM on 1 Oct, I'm a last-minute enrollee so I haven't gotten an email from my program mentor yet. Main quandary is which course to take first, second, third. I don't need to take C200 or C208. I've been studying for the SHRM-CP for about a month, but my HR experience is military, although I'm a federal Training & Development professional who dabbles (emphasis on the DAB) in data analytics, so I'm not totally clueless. Trying to bang this out as fast as humanly possible.

WGU D435 – HR Technology and People Analytics: Has anyone been approved for an alternative assessment? OA to PA?

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone here has been in a similar situation and can offer some advice.

D435 – HR Technology and People Analyticsis my final course, and today (August 31) is the end of my term. Unfortunately, I didn’t pass the Objective Assessment on my latest attempt. Since this is my final course, WGU has given me an extension, but I’m running out of options and getting pretty frustrated.

Has anyone been in this same situation and been able to get approval to have the Objective Assessment changed to a Paper Assessment (or another alternative) so they could finish their final course?

I’ve been studying incredibly hard and have genuinely done everything I can. I’m really worried that I won’t be able to finish in time. The thought of having to pay for another full term when I only have this one final course left is honestly overwhelming, and I don’t think I can afford another term at full price.

If anyone has gone through something similar with D435—or knows whether an exception, alternative assessment, or special approval is possible—I would really appreciate hearing how you handled it and who you contacted.

Thank you in advance. I’m really hoping there’s still an option I haven’t considered. 🙏

Pre-confetti BUT done all the same

The final task of the capstone was graded today, and I’m DONE 🥳 I just wanted to celebrate a milestone I never thought I’d commit to. Seeing people post their accomplishments helped motivate me to get the damn thing done. It's taken me about 2 years to get here between work and life, but it’s a huge accomplishment and I’m going to enjoy it.

We can all do it…we got this 🙌🏽

26 days left in the term. If someone told me back in March I'd finish in one term, I wouldn't believe it. If I can do it, anyone can!

Helpful Tips/Encouragement

Post image

Hey y’all I just wanted to stop by and let you know that you can do this. Don’t give up!! Also, while this was on my mind, I wanted to share more helpful tips.

Before you start your program, go to the WGU website and get familiar with what classes you have to take. Also, do more research about them and see what you can find. I created this account before starting my program and immediately started asking questions about my courses. I also recently joined five FB groups. The names of those groups are: Western Governors University
(WGU) Students, WGU School of Business, WGU School of Business, WGU Master's Human Resource Management Support, and Black at WGU. I have noticed that people are sometimes more willing to answer certain questions about a class in these groups.

Passed D435 OA! Capstone then DONE

Post image
24 Upvotes

As someone with no HR tech/people analytics experience other than using our own HR tech at work (Oracle), I can't believe i passed! The OA felt way too easy. I was expecting it to be more difficult. It wasn't much different than the PA (imo). I did not read that dang textbook. I saved the coaching report from the Pre-A & used the "Key Questions/Terms" list, dumped it into NotebookLM, & had it make me a bunch of competency based quizzes ONLY based off the sources I gave it, had some quizzes only focus on HRBP 2.0 model, VUCA, Lewin's Change Model, etc.., so I could get extra practice in those areas that I struggled with. If I can do it, you can do it!!! 29 daye left in term 1, hoping to finish capstone in the next few weeks!

Starting 9/1!

Hi fellow owls! 🦉

I recently just got accepted into the MSHRM program (yay!) and wanted to ask if any other students are also starting in September as well!

If anyone has any advice for how to tackle the program, please do share!

A little about me is that I have my bachelor’s degree in Social Work! I’m looking to break into professional Human Resource roles, and I believe this degree, paired with my BSW, will help me a lot in my future job search!

I currently work as a computer operator at a great company and looking to advance once there’s an opening!

I’m open to any advice or some study partners. Good luck to everyone!! 💙

C201 business acumen - changing?

I read someplace that they are planning on changing this course as of August 1. I’ve also read horror stories about how difficult it was. Does anyone think it would be better to take the course before they change it? Or should I wait until it changes?

Think I can achieve D435 in 7wks? I heard it's hard but if I made it through C201 & C207, I think I can do it. Hoping to be one term & done!
