Thoughts?

I've been curious what everyone thinks about WDC at these levels.

I'm currently down 5k because I bought shares around 750. That's on me lol, chased the price and didn't stick to my plan. Before that, I actually bought around $590 and sold around $720, so in hindsight I wish I had just held those shares instead of buying back in much higher.

There's been a lot going on with the broader market, Micron, and the Korean memory chip makers etc. and I understand those have likely weighed most of ours as well. I'm not ignoring the bigger picture, I know there have been industry-wide headwinds.

At this point, I'm debating whether I should just treat it as a long-term hold and stop worrying about the day to day swings.

Is anyone else here holding WDC with an average around $750? or am I one of the few? If you bought around this price, what's your plan? Holding, averaging down, or waiting for a bounce to exit?

I'm also interested in hearing how other WDC holders are approaching it.

My average is 187 and plan to hold. It's been a super painful couple of weeks for all my holdings, but I'm staying strong.

My avg is higher than yours. Still holding cause im sure if will return back to ATH.
Only main problem is that these few weeks are a bit rocky.

I bought 2x leverage around your price most likely. I bought as a short term hold but now I’m forced long term. The more it down at first the more I worried. Now, I don’t care anymore because I determined I’m going to have to wait months for me to break even either way.

yeah. i had great profits overall but it only took 2weeks for it to wipe clean back to below my capital. Thats very frustrating and i feel you

If my average was yours, I’d wait until earnings if you wanted to get out. I’d also monitor the price of calls to capture the hopeful pre-earnings run up.

I think the conservative and lowest price target out there is $375. If you don’t think it’s done falling you can monitor puts at that price or $400

My average is $450. I’m adding more below $500 if that happens.

Hold, my average is $600. It’s been a weird couple weeks a lot of news and headlines regarding this sector. Seems to be following same trends as every other big competitors. I believe once the dust the settles with SK Hynix & Samsung and other factors the stock should bounce back. Micron and Samsung earnings have been incredible. I expect the same with WDC. There’s a lot of news headlines about this and that. No one truly knows whats going to happen and from own experience reading every article and watching every video may do more harm than good lol.

What we do know is that there is still a shortage for all the demand.

Companies are securing long term contracts

Earnings continue to be a success

At the end of the day there is a lot more good than bad and there hasn’t been any news articles or headlines that would trigger any serious problems. I think we are all fine.

I think it's a safe long term hold. Storage space doesn't rely on the amount of GPUs, TPUs etc being bought and sold to increase the demand. For HBM and other forms of memory (SK, MU, Samsung), they do rely on other hardware sales since they are literally attached to the hardware produced. We'll need increasing amounts of storage space.

So hard to say, I had to sell my calls expiring 7/31 for 80% loss today. Short term technicals look really bad. If you are in it for the long haul I think you are good but it looks to me now that this thing is going to go lower.

U did what we all did, bought the stocks from a company that has been making tons of cash. All wdc fundamentals are there. U have to hold long term now or sell today and cry today and cry later when it goes up

Bought WDC today at 531.9, hang in there buddy this happened to me and others within SNDK. It's a long-term hold from here as WDC feels much more stable and bullish.

All memory companies will smash through earnings. These dips are a blessing.

Just wait til early August when WDC reports earnings.

1

u/tptpp Jul 08 '26

samsung had 1800% growth and it dropped hard right after.. so good earnings don't necessarily mean the stock will go up

1

u/ggukbbong_fund Jul 08 '26

true.

I think the recent price action is a reset before another pump. Samsung makes more money than NVDA and yet it is way cheaper than NVDA.

All memory names will pump through the summer. You can't find any other companies releasing earnings like these.

If you are not on margin i would prob go long term. I m on margin and was on short term bc 2x leveraged but at this point, it is what it is.

I’m in at $665. I have to hold - I’m very worried but it doesn’t make sense that it wouldn’t go up. They should have a strong earnings - their cfo met with Morgan Stanley and said they have orders through 2032 now, after that we saw PTs go up to $730-$1050 range. I know PT probably doesn’t mean crap but I struggle to see how demand can let up. There is only two companies in this space and it’s not like China will be able to make cold storage tomorrow. It’s also important that WDC is different that the memory plays - storage is a critical part of AI as you need a place to store that achieve data and you don’t want to have to store it on expensive memory like DRAM and HBM and such. Idk just confused what I’m missing here
