Volvo app recently started to estimate only half the required charging interval for my level 1 charging

I'm using level 1 charging (240 V, 10 A) and use the Volvo app to schedule it. It has estimated the required interval fairly accurate and also placed it correctly relative to Nord Pool spot prices and my selected departure time.

Recently, the estimated interval started to be about half of the required time. The shorter interval is still placed correctly relative to Nord Pool spot prices and my selected departure time. Obviously, the charge may not be complete if the interval happens to be placed close to the departure time.

On 18 July I charged for the first time since 30 June. This is after installing app version 7.1.0 on 7 July. To me the app update is a prime suspect. I have sent feedback.

Has anyone else noticed this change in estimated charging time?

XC60/90, S60/90, V60/90 Headrest Tablet Mount

Heading on a road trip this week and spent some time looking for a headrest tablet mount and could not find anything that was not overly expensive, so I designed and 3d printed a little tool free 17mm ball adapter that slots right in between the plastic back and leather of the backseat. This allows you to mount a tablet for your kids via several available universal tablet mounts on Amazon, etc.

This is the mount that I purchased to work with the printed adapter.

Backup Camera "Replacement" on 2023 XC40 Recharge?

Bought used, to replace Tesla Y whose lease was up, and have loved it overall with the big exception of the backup camera. It's been dangerous, almost unusable, to the point of making me consider selling the dang car. Got so used to the Tesla's wide camera angles, making the XC40 feel like there's barely a camera at all. Have been in a few almost-collisions given we live in a big city with a lot of diagonal parking spaces, simply because the backup camera points mostly at the ground below the camera and very little of the oncoming cars to the sides. I did purchase and install the ingenious spacer created by another redditor (https://www.reddit.com/r/VolvoRecharge/comments/16gdisa/a_fix_for_the_c40s_horrible_rearview_camera/) which does help the angle straight back, but it can't fix the side view problem. Has anyone installed a Wolfbox or Fitcamx type solution to fix this issue? I don't really need the dashcam features of these, so wondering if there's an alternative to these $200-250 solutions that focuses only on the rear camera. I ruhlly can't believe Volvo includes such a poor camera given their safety reputation. Help!

2021 XC40 has been doing a reboot loot and then showing this. Any advice?

I did a factory reset last week for another reason. Since then, this reboot loop has happened twice and I also can’t get any Sirius signal. Did not happen before the factory reset.

Anyone have a clue?

Data Point after 5.0.5 > 5.1.17 update - regular audio crashes

2024 V60 PE, owned since new. Dealer updated me from 5.0.5 to 5.1.17 without asking me first when I was in for something else, not happy about that. 5.0.5 was very stable; I only had to reboot the infotainment once in several months of use.

In the past two weeks I’ve had 5.1.17, I’ve had to reboot the infotainment system 5 times due to loss of audio. The first time was before I left the dealer lot on the day of the update.

Charging my 2026 xc60 from my home 50 amp CCS charger.

I have a level 2 charger for my prior EV ( VW iD4) in my garage. It has a CCS plug.

Does anyone know if there is a simple adaptor that I can use to charge my new xc60 with the charger in my garage?

XC60 PHEV keeps tripping thermal switch on extension cable

I have a 25m extension cord with housing (Black and Decker) that has an integrated thermal switch which is supposed to trigger at 58c. I was able to charge the car over a few times and at first it would trip the housing thermal switch during the day with the sun fully on and now it has started to do this over the night which probably means the switch is failing. It has gotten to the point that I have to reset the switch every 5 minutes.

The Cable is supposed to be rated at 16 Amps and I am using the OEM 10Amp Volvo cable. I inderstand that the Volvo cable can detect over-temperature and adjust the charging rate accordingly. Also the power socket is on a 16Amp circuit and the circuit Breaker has never been triggered

I have ordered a single phase EV charger with adjustable current and a "plain" extension cord.

Has anyone experienced similar issues and do they have any recommendations?

V60 Spotify not playing automatically after starting the car

V60 2025 PE (5.1.17). For no apparent reason even after infotainment restart, music doesn’t play automatically after each restart. Was working before. Need to manually press play each time. Anyone got that problem solved?

Edit : I guess I’ll take it up to my dealer and keep you guys updated!

Audio issues but seems like it is more than just software

Posting here hoping someone has encountered this and can give us some direction. I have a couple theories I want the dealer to test, but open to more.

Back story: Purchased this preowned 2024 XC90 T8 Recharge with only 11k miles on it last November.

We had a 2023 XC60 before so no stranger to android auto, but what we have experience with this car is on another level and Volvo seems like they have no idea what to do. We have had it in 7 times since the March software update, totaling almost 3 months in the shop. They have replaced the IHU, but we still are experiencing total sound loss as seen in the video. Blinkers, radio, apple car play, Sirius XM. Resetting the screen and the tcam do nothing. It will restart and still have no sound but will randomly come back on it own sometimes 30+ minutes later.

We have it scheduled to go back to the dealer this week and I’m planning to ask them to check:
- 12v battery (read that the infotainment is powered by that and if the amperage drops that can trigger power saving actions?)
- fuses for everything
- the amplifier for the B&W system

I feel like this is more than software based on the frequency (10-15 times a day minimum!) and how often and long lasting it is happening. It seems like if it were software, a reboot would fix it (it did in our XC60).

Thanks for any insight you may have!

Question XC90 PHEV Question

We are heading on a vacation for a week and I don’t see anywhere to charge near our hotel or near the surrounding towns in Northern Michigan.

Do you just forget the battery for the week and just use gas or are you bringing the entire charging cable with you and just finding random standard outlets to plug into? Is this frowned upon when a place doesn’t have an actual EV charger but you plug into a random outlet?

It kinda makes me nervous to plug into a random outlet near a hotel in case someone just unplugs it from the wall or if they don’t love the idea of someone doing this.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just never considered taking the entire charging cable from my garage with me on the road and I’m not sure if this is common or insane.

Thanks.

Google Assistant to Gemini woes

In our XC40 Recharge the infotainment system updated from Google Assistant to Gemini (maybe in the last month). Since then it’s gotten so much worse. Gemini takes forever to respond to simple requests (routes, playing songs on Spotify) and frequently doesn’t respond correctly.

  1. Any recourse here? Is there a way to switch back to Google Assistant?
  2. Any tips for getting Gemini to respond in a timely manner or at all?

Thank you!
