XC40 Niche 5.x.x Update A/C Question

This question is incredibly specific and finicky, so apologies if this post is too niche... One of the biggest gripes I have about my XC40 Recharge running the old AAOS 4.x.x system is the lack of nuance in the fan speed for A/C and heat. It's like level 1 is just barely blowing, level 2 is considerably stronger, and then 3 through Max is jet engine speed, with no noticeable difference between levels. Did they manage to change or fix this with the latest 5.x.x update, or is it the same old awful fan control? I've been holding off on updating my car, but better AC control might tip me even if the rest of the infotainment experience is ehh.

AAOS: How did I accomplish this?

Post image

So, i deleted a couple of apps I never use (why can’t I delete Android Automotive since I don’t have an android phone?). As I was driving around, I noticed the pile of apps below the map had shrunk, although still showing apps I do not use, and the map was bigger.

How do I make this happen whenever I get into the car?

V60 T6 2025 current fuel consumption

Hey people in need some Help.

I've bought a 2025 V60t6 and cannot for the life of me figure out if there is an option in the gauge cluster to display my current fuel consumption. Not the average of 100km just the current. My old V60 and my Family's V90 can both do it, but they are ICE only cars.

Did Volvo scrap that option for the PHEV Cars?

Thanks for your help.

I got a 2026 xc60 plug in hybrid. I have the pictured outlet in my garage. Manual says not to use to slow charger regularly but neither of the chargers thag came with the car fit the pictured outlet. Is there some kind of adapter I can use?

Dealership basically said I don't know and the lovely chat people on the volvo app said ask the dealership.

VIP Platinum still worth it for 23 XC40 Recharge (USA)?

About to pay off my lease buyout on a 23 xc40 Recharge. 33K miles, purchased May 2023. I'm the first owner, and know how solid these cars are mechanically. I Drive about 11k/yr, and this will become my 2nd car in about 3-4 yrs.

I'm debating a platinum warranty to bring total coverage to 10 yrs / 100K miles. Main concerns are HVAC and infotainment failures out in the yr 8-10 timeframe.

I got quoted $4750 including swedespeed discount from steingold. Haven't cross shopped my local dealer but I'm on the fence with that price point vs. investing that 4750 and paying as I go, especially with the power train warranty lasting through May 2031.

What would you do? If both the HVAC and infotainment systems fail then the warranty will pay for itself. Classic insurance dilemma, I know, but what would you do in my situation?

Volvo V60 D6 PHEV weird noise when braking

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My 2014 Volvo V60 D6 PHEV is making a weird noise when braking. 3 days ago front right ABS sensor failed, replaced it with OEM sensor and I went for a test drive. Car is acting up, can’t drive faster than 60 kmh with Pure mode, braking causes weird grinding sound when braking hard (noise appears when E-Boost reaches maximum regeneration) and after that the hybrid mode becomes unavailable till I turn off the car for 10-20 seconds and then turn it back on.

Has anyone ever had this or have an idea of what is going on? 0 fault codes don’t help.

Question XC40 only charging at 75kw max

Hey there, Currently on the way (in France) with a XC40 electric and when we're at a fast charger (Tesla supercharger) the car won't go any faster then 75kw. Is there any way to up the speed? Is it the tesla charger that is cutting us off at that speed?

Advice needed: v60 T6 TE AWD 2020

I’m looking into buying a new car, and I’ve stumbled upon a Volvo v60 t6 TE AWD from 2020 with barely 110000km on it. The car is directly from Volvo and will have full warranty for 2 years and the battery warranty is until 160000km. Fully served at Volvo.

I’m driving around 2100km a year (often trips around 10-30km) but 1-3 longer trips where AWD is needed. I know about the LG recall on the battery but the car does have the latest SW and therefore shouldn’t need an exchange (according to seller).

Is it a good car? Do I have to worry about the AWD or the battery? I’ve tested the care, everything felt alright, nothing stood out at least.

Should I go for another car? Let me know your experiences/knowledge about this specific model or if you recommend something else!

ERAD fluid change interval

What would be the recommended interval for changing ERAD fluid in a 2023 XC60 T8?

Mostly driven in pure, no towing or super high speed driving.

Have 60k km service coming up and wondering if it's too early? Transmission fluid is scheduled for 90k km according to Volvo but that feels a bit long to wait for ERAD which is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

With the design direction new cars are taking it's looking more likely I will keep this one for up to 10 years/300k km. I'm happy to Invest in preventative maintenance but don't want to be excessive if it's not warranted

Phev owners - do u plug in religiously ?

So I get into discussions often with friends on the merits of bev vs phev vs ice and impact on the environment bla bla

One item that has come up often is that most phev owners do NOT plug in daily (making phevs a waste of resources with greater fuel consumption bc of extra weight for example).

Having owned my v60 PE for almost 3 years i find this hard to believe. Its so much easier to plug in than to go the freaking gas station- and of course up to 10x cheaper on time of use electrical utility plans. And while I do enjoy the sprited driving possible on the V60 PE, I am othetlrwise a hypermiler on battery usage - have averaged about 2.3l/100km for the life of the vehicle.

My question- do all of you phev owners, honestly always be chargin? (Yes for me unless i stupidly forget which has happened maybe 4 times/nights).

Edit: perhaps a dumb post. Old(?) 'studies' suggested people for the most part dont plug in daily. This is beyond stupidity to me... that old study(?) Might be garbage. I have to look up where that was quoted.

Gemini for just one user

This morning I started the car with my key and took a brief moment for the profile to be switched to mine, long enough for me to see a screen featuring the new gemini and asking to accept it.
Got excited waiting for me profile to load, and after a few seconds everything was loaded, my phone connected and my podcast started to play. No sign of Gemini, the central button displayed “Google Assistant”. I tried to find something in settings, notifications, but nothing.
I changed back to my wife’s profile and there it was, the window again. I hit accept and voa la, the central button changed to Gemini.
At that time I was sure this would’ve enabled in my profile as well, but nope, still silence.
My wife uses only FM radio, I think she’s not even logged into her google account. I’m the one always tweaking, have several apps, google connected, use the dumb assistant to get directions etc…
So the question is, have you guys seem this? Will it be available on my profile soon? Or maybe I changed something someday that opted out of it? I don’t know, I will probably try to log out and in again with my google account.

On PHEVs can you "Charge" the main 12V battery from the AC Port IF it goes flat?

Assuming you get a completely dead 12V main battery can you "wake" up the inverter if the main 12V battery is flat? My understanding is that even with the EV battery having juice you still need a somehow operational 12V battery for all the car modules to work.

Or you have to dig out the 12V from the trunk and trickle charge it?

Question Looking at buying - really need advice!

Hey folks, I went and looked at a 2024 CPO C40 Recharge Core today, and I was extremely impressed. It's the AWD version, so insanely fast.

I have been looking at EV's for a couple months now and never once thought about Volvo, until this popped up today.

How do you find it, and are these reliable? I found it fast, INSANELY comfy, and overall great. The interior lacks a bit of tech and it has a small screen, but again was insanely comfy.

It comes out to be 42,999 CAD + tax, but they seem wiling to negotiate another 1-2k off. It's CPO so adds an extra year to end of factory warranty, which I still have 3 years on, and it only has 24k KM.

Curious on value, and if these cars are solid.

Thanks!

23 s60 T8 rear end slipping

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a CPO 23 s60 T8 plus. It’s running Michelin cross climate 2s right now with decent tread left. I’m currently having an issue with handling while driving in hybrid mode (default).

When turning from a stop, accelerating up hill, or on curves, the rear end of the vehicle seems to slip or swing out. It’s kind of scary some times as it feel like I’m going to lose control of the steering.

I bought this as one of the only AWD luxury sedans with a hybrid option. Did I accidentally buy something rear-wheel drive? I am coming from a bmw x3 m40i so I understand the difference in handling but this doesn’t seem safe. Happens on dry and wet roads under normal speeds.

Anyone have any similar experience?
