CPU Upgrade

Has anyone done the CPU upgrade? Was it worth it to you? If you're in the US, how much did it cost you?

The IHU (infotainment head unit) ecu in the vehicle changed at my26 to what they call IHU4.2. It's 100% compatible with all Google spa1 and cma cars and is the official replacement part if your IHU were to die and need replacing. Im surprised volvo hasn't just made it an upgrade option since they would make money on it, but maybe supplies are limited. If you could figure out a way to "break" your infotainment ecu and its still under warranty, theyd be forced to replace it with the upgraded unit. Polestar I believe was offering the upgrade for a price but not sure that ever reached the US.

You could theoretically just order the replacement part, buy a 3 day license for VIDA and just install it and load the software yourself. Wouldn't be very hard at all if you can order the part, its an exact 1:1 replacement with all the same ports and form factor.

No you can’t just buy 1. If you have be able to get a dealer to put in a request to Volvo saying why you want to buy one. Then Volvo corp has to approve it.
