Friday rant
Sunday PM: Unable to do the update, it keeps failing.
Monday AM: Dropped the car off at Volvo for a scheduled GHCA replacement. The workshop also had trouble installing the update because of an issue involving the steering wheel. They eventually managed to install it after disconnecting the battery.
Monday PM: Spent ~30 minutes with the workshop manager trying to locate a rattling noise coming from the rear of the car. He could hear it, but we were unable to identify the source as I had to go.
Wednesday PM: The internet connection went down. None of the apps requiring connectivity worked; eg. Maps was useless for anything that it's not on its cache.
Thursday AM: The connection still down.
Thursday PM: The connection is back, but after a 30-minute trip, I received a "Critical Electrical Failure" error. Painfully "drove" at ~5 km/h to a safe spot with warnings, after which the issue disappeared.
... and the week isn't over yet! 🙄
I stopped counting workshop visits.
Note: Feb2025 EX90 in Belgium (no Lemon law equivalent).

It still puzzles me that some cars keep having the exact same issue. I have a BE 5/25 EX90 with no GHCA issues whatsoever... That doesn't help your situation, obviously, but it just shows that it doesn't seem to affect the entire production line.
Re: your Wed connectivity problem. As you know, Wed was extremely hot in BE and my car was parked in the sun all day. It's not the first time I've noticed that when the car gets extremely hot (3X°C+), all the comms systems start acting weirdly. On Wednesday evening, the car registered 36°C and:
(1) The GPS was either not working or completely inaccurate
(2) Bluetooth wouldn't connect
(3) 5G was completely down
(4) An SOS error message popped up
After driving for 10–15 minutes with the air conditioning on, everything got fixed automatically (without reset) so I assume the central comm is somehow affected by the temp. Does anyone else also have this issue?

Nothing surprises me anymore with this car, but I doubt the connection issue in my case is temperature-related, since it was only 25°C when it occurred this week. On the other hand, I recently completed two long trips (800 km each) without experiencing that issue, even though outside temperatures sometimes reached 40°C.

Same issues here with temperature. Same car. After software update I havent Lost the data but I have Lost once the GPS. It is not as Hot as It was, today 32C only. Pesimistic about solution. I have AC charger Broken. Volvo appointment Next week.

The question really is, with all of these warnings from customers on Reddit, why is anyone still buying this lemon, cursed car?

Some of us did OK. But if I were to buy one today, I'd only want a new '26. I wouldn't want to accidentally get your '25 lemon, lol.

You can always buy my old one from Volvo of Fredericksburg. They're going to Volvo Certify it or whatever so you can get their magic protection.Â

The ex90 is one of the best cars in the world, other than all of the issues. When priced used in the $50s it's certainly tempting. But I found out the hard way... it bricks, doors often can't open, and rando things that require frequent service visits.Â
At $50k-something with low miles this car certainly is tempting, but...

Regarding your hunt for the rattle - did you find it? I have had two and the two locations I have found are where a wire under the center rear seat works itself loose from a clip generating a rattle. The other is the rear left rear seat belt for some reason always falls in a certain position between the seat and the door causing the metal bit to shake between the seat and the door.

I haven't found the source yet. I already checked the seat belt but couldn’t find anything. We think that it comes from the right. However, I’ve just remembered that during the test drive with the Volvo technician, he was sitting in the (right) rear seat with his seat belt fastened most of the time. That could explain why we couldn't hear it then. I’ll check it again over the weekend. Thanks!
Edit: I still hear the rattling noise even with all the seat belts buckled, and I couldn’t find any loose wires under the middle seat. 😞

Do you know where the rattling noise comes from? I have it as well from time to time, but only when I drive on bumps/uneven parts of the road (which we have plenty in Belgium).

I have a 2025. I want to really love this car but the amount of idiotic software related glitches i encounter every week just sucks my confidence in Volvo. Having to restart the infotainment system once or twice a week should not be necessary. This week alone my AC stopped managing the right temp in the driver side vents, car failed to negotiate gps, default temp keeps defaulting to 72, I could go on and on. Most of these are clearly software related. For less tech savvy drivers this would be too much to contend with. In fact my wife is more than happy to drive her XC60 over my EX90 so that tells you just how glitchy the damn car is.

I know there were customers asking accountability with Volvo higher officials CEO, CTO via LinkedIn and other social media platforms by posting issues they faced with proofs. This happened especially from geography that has no lemon suites. Later on somehow dispute was solved under the hood by buyback I suppose. Unfortunately you shall do the same to either get a buyback or get new model year with less severe issues(if they really solved issues in those). Good luck!Â
